This week, I shared some interesting news about an old Drag Race season with Jesse before we got into several many challenges of the middle section of Drag Race Season 14.We start with the ASPCA Drag Queen challenge “Save a Queen” where we praise the iconic first outs, and demand a Tempest Dujour return, while walking down the memory lane of Rapal Dark Res. We talked about the silliness of the balloon popping challenge into the first challenge of this podcast. We analyzed the fashions of the Glamazon Prime challenge, talked about the rise of Daya's TV moments in direct opposition to Jasmine's, how long this season truly was, the 60's girl group challenge, and ended this week's discussion by talking about the Drag Con challenge.
This week's space has no name... All we know is that it was a rest-stop between the cities of Salt Lake City and Provo, in Utah, USA. And, well, if you know anything about cruising then you've probably already guessed that it was a cruising spot, but, without overly intellectualising it, cruising spots are so much more than just cruising spots. And, in a very homophobic part of the USA this was one of the only places where queer men could go and feel that they could express a part of themselves that they had suppressed... And, who went there? Well, it is former Rupaul's Drag Race contestant Tempest DuJour, who grew up in Utah and in the Mormon faith, and had the space as an outlet whilst she was grappling with her sexuality and identity. We talk all about her experiences with the Mormon church, coming out at 30 and.... a rascal of a man who had cherry smelling balls.... Do you have any memories of clubbing from your local queer scene that you want to share? Well, if you have please get in touch - I want to create the biggest online record of people's memories and stories - go to www.lostspacespodcast.com and find the section 'Share a Lost Space' and tell me what you got up to! The queens are giving back to the Drag Race community with this week's poetic parody PSA Save a Queen, dedicated to lifting up early outs of the series like Kahmora Hall, Jaymes Mansfield and Tempest DuJour (really). And while the elimination at the end of this week's episode wasn't terribly shocking, the one at the beginning of the episode certainly was! Kornbread shuffled out with another classic Injury of Drag Race, clearing the way for some more queens to become frontrunners. This week Bosco shot to the top like the Seattle space needle, Lady Camden was truly the tea, Willow continued to bring the house down and Orion's sequel in this competition ended as quickly as her first story. Step into your drag time machines: In this week's episode, Joseph is headed all the way back to Season 7 of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' to interview Tempest DuJour, the very first outcast of what's turned out to be quite an unpopular season. During the chat, Tempest talks about her career as a professor, what it was like filming a 'Drag Race' promo after being eliminated(!), how the show changed her career, and so much more. Sashay your way to that play button!
Trixie and Katya project into the future of UNHhhh, featuring Tempest DuJour and Mrs. Kasha Davis.

We're HERE, Mary's! H-E-R-E! Season 7 may have been a bit of a slog for everyone the first time around, but in retrospect it's a season of stars! This week we say hello to some favorites--Katya, Trixie, Jasmine, Kasha, Kennedy, and of course, Miss Kandy Ho in the MF'ing house--and keep our queer eyes on queens like Pearl and Miss Fame. The episode is a parade of looks with little precious workroom banter, but Katya emerges quickly as the narrator and Violet shines despite a thorny start. We Mary out on Michelle unnecessarily clocking a bit of boy on the runway, Trixie evolving from outcast to All Star and Jasmine being stoned in the workroom, before bidding a saggy, soggy adieu to Tempest DuJour. This week we took a look at some of the most creative and disastrous film and TV that captured the timeless nature of Drag on Screen. From a 70's TV Classic to modern day Drag Race Alumni, we got some interesting and touching results. Michael got to explore something he's been avoiding in "White Girls" and found great joy in the "Flip Wilson show" with a drag character that was a head of her time. Meanwhile Davina got to explore the life of a small time Drag Bar in "Cherry Pop" and got an eye into the interesting world of Jinkx Monsoon in "Drag Becomes Him."
This week I had the absolute pleasure of chatting to Tempest DuJour, star of 'RuPaul's Drag Race Season 7'. We chat through everything from her playing dress up as a child(and the therapy that he was sent to because of it)to going on a Mormon mission. We talk on her time in NYC and her experiences of the clubs and bars and her work on some big productions. Tempest(and/or Patrick)explains her love of theatre and an early experience of going to see the play 'Torch Song Trilogy' with her mum and the ladies from church! Leigh Bowery, Boy George and Tempest's love of all things 80's and British feature as do some of the characters from the play she derives her name from. And of course we talk about the experience of appearing on 'RuPaul's Drag Race' and the horrific accident that pushed Tempest to go for gold in the Olympics of drag. This week on One Bad Mother, Tempest DuJour joins Biz as co-host to answer the question "What do you mean they don’t want to be your friend baby girl?” What are we supposed to do as parents if our kids feel like they don’t have friends? I mean besides threaten those kids who dare not like our children. That probably qualifies as getting “too involved.” But what is enough involvement and how bitter is that pill to swallow that there really isn’t anything you can do to keep your children from emotional pain? Biz and Theresa explore how we try to change gears when we're stuck in a funk. “I know I am supposed to be enjoying this moment… why can’t I get out of my funk and enjoy it?” Is it the guilt, is it the need to carry every emotional triumph or difficulty around till we get recognized for it, or do we just need to be nicer to ourselves when a day is turned upside down by a toddler tantrum? It may be some of everything. Plus, Biz has an ant problem, Theresa has bunk beds, and we talk to drag superstar Tempest DuJour about adoption, trusting yourself, and fostering diversity in our homes and communities.
