Talkin' Motorbikes with the the legendary rider Toni Elias. I talked to him about his storied career as a professional rider. The dude raced at the end of the 2-stroke era, 125 and 250GP. He raced in MotoGP as well, including winning a race in in the era that Rossi dominated. He also later won the inaugural Moto2 world championship. He did race a few more years in MotoGP before racing Superbikes in America. He recently retired for the 2nd time (the first at the end of 2020). We're going to talk about why he came back and why he retired.. I'm totally looking forward to this chat, Toni is such a good dude. Raising money for the Arthritis Foundation this fall. 2006. Toni Elias vince il GP del Portogallo per appena due millesimi di secondo su Valentino Rossi. Una distanza irrisoria, impercettibile all'occhio umano. Un risultato che, per Elias, ha il sapore del trionfo. Per il Dottore, invece, di un conto ancora aperto con la sorte...
When Toni Elias announced that he is leaving the Team Hammer M4 ECSTAR Suzuki team at the end of this season, a lot of people took it that he is retiring. But, as Carruthers and Bice found out on this video episode of Off Track, news of Toni's retirement has been greatly exaggerated. Be sure to check this one out.Support the show (http://motoamerica.com)
John Ulrich wears many hats in the MotoAmerica paddock. For starters, he is the team owner of Team Hammer, which has been racing for 40 years and is the new home of the factory Suzukis - ridden by Toni Elias and Bobby Fong - in the MotoAmerica Superbike Series. He's also the founder and editor of Roadracing World magazine, a monthly publication that specializes in road racing coverage from the around the world as well as tests on the newest streetbikes. To say Ulrich has been around the block a time or two would be an understatement. Carruthers and Bice caught up with Ulrich for this week's Off Track podcast and quickly found out that an hour wasn't going to be enough. Just a few short weeks ago, Cameron Beaubier did what many thought was impossible. He won his fourth MotoAmerica Superbike Championship in five years after heading into the series finale 16 points behind his rival Toni Elias. Beaubier needed to win both races to take the title and he needed Elias to finish third or worse in both. And both of those things happened. Superbike racing had 2 amazing weekends recently with MotoAmerica at RoadAmerica and WorldSBK at Brno. You asked for more non-MotoGP coverage, so you are getting it!Toni Elias, Cam Beaubier, and Josh Herrin put in some amazingly hard passes in America's National Series for the best 2 races we've seen all year. Someone went down, drama bubbled up, and Rob wonders if penalties are going to get in the middle of this great racing. America still seems to follow "turnabout is fair play" and we like it.WorldSBK race 1 isn't worth talking about... but race 2, oh man. The two factory Kawasaki racers came together, reminding us of recent GP incidents. And again, Rob wonders about penalties - did Race Direction only not penalize Sykes because he crashed after? On top of that Alex Lowes put in a solid performance to take his first SBK win and Yamaha's 3rd in 4 races.Lastly, we introduce our new segment, the BrotoGP Hotline. Petrucci Iannone Rossi Rossi Dovi Hayden. Call us, ask a question, and you could make it onto the show!
Scholtz (Yamalube/Westby Racing) is currently running in second place overall in the MotoAmerica Superbike Series behind Toni Elias. He is tied with Cameron Beaubier at 103 points. So far he has won one race and placed second at another race. At the recent event held at VIR in Virginia he place third in race one […]
We polled our fans, asking whether or not they wanted us to discuss MotoAmerica. You ask for it, so you are getting it. MotoAmerica Round 1 at Road Atlanta went down last weekend. There were more than few surprises throughout the weekend. So here's our Top 5 Stories to watch for the 2018 MotoAmerica season.Up first is Hayden Gillim. He's moved over to Supersport from Superstock1000 and is challenging JD Beach already. Second on our list is Jamie Astudillo and her amazing performance in Junior Cup. Keep and eye out for her and all the rest of the young racers in the class. Third on the list is Garrett Gerloff and his long-awaited promotion to the Superbike class. His first weekend wasn't without issues, but he's already showing promise. In second place is Josh Herrin and his R1S race bike. You have to listen to hear all the shit that went down with that team and what an amazing job they did with what they had. And in the final #1 spot on this list is Mathew Scholtz, a promising talent from Superstock1000 that might just challenge Toni Elias for the Superbike title.BeInSportsUSA MotoAmerica Playlist:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5dXR9bHuKvm7fVwYWD-o2-dh1SvPH5XK
Surprise! Its the summer break but BrotoGP is gonna be bringing you a bunch of new content. We just got back from Laguna Seca and MotoAmerica is up first. The racing was phenomenal and dare I say, Kev was a bit surprised. MotoAmerica and practically everyone racing in it have had a huge resurgence in the past few years and thats all we are going to talk about. Toni Elias is living the true MotoAmerican dream leading the SBK title. Josh Herrin finally puts his privateer Yamaha on the box. There are rider stories left and right and we expect that it will attract fans, money, and maybe even new riders. MotoAmerica is rising from the ashes and it rocks.
While we are in between GP testing, BrotoGP is excited to bring you another real and honest racer interview. 2013 AMA Superbike and 2016 MotoAmerica Superstock1000 Champ Josh Herrin joins us in this one to spill about racing in America and his time in the Moto2 class. We start this one off talking about his struggles and successes during the 2016 season and his big plans for the Superbike class in 2017. Then we jump into the 2014 Moto2 season and why things didn't exactly go as planned. Josh covers it all... his riding, the talent, Zarco, Caterham Suter, the struggles with travel, his release from the team, and more. We then transition back to America, discussing the impact that international riders like Toni Elias are making. Things finish off with some personal stories from Josh about trackdays and a little shit-talking.
1000-1. Those were the odds on Jack Miller last Thursday to win the Assen Grand Prix. But via some sort of miracle, in one of the most ridiculous MotoGP weekends ever, he took a restarted victory ahead of Marc Marquez and Scott Redding, MotoGP's first Indpendent victory since Toni Elias at Estoril 2006. We review all of the madness at a very wet and dry Assen this past weekend, including Rossi's fall, Lorenzo's case of the "yips", and the first weekend with three new winners since 2013 as Takagami Nakagami and Francisco Bagnaia also took wins in their respective classes, in ANOTHER Moto3 highlight reel finish! We also took Road America for IndyCar, in their most attended race ever, as Will Power reminded us he's still Will Power with a dominant victory ahead of a rampant Tony Kaanan, with Graham Rahal finishing 3rd. We also took over the Push-To-Pass and the fact it may be a little too overpowered in the context of the finish, and Conor Daly's rotten luck returning with a suspension failure. We also take some of your listener questions, talk more about Top Gear and Matt LeBlanc's threat to quit over Chris Evans, and talk more about Bernie Ecclestone wanting to change the revenue scale for Formula 1... About time. Oh, and Johnson's back. That's a thing. Enjoy the episode, and stay tuned, with a little luck, we got a BIG week coming for the Podcast to start July. Stay tuned...
