Annemieke Bosman praat met Annemiek Rens, zij is conservator van de tentoonstelling Amrita Sher-Gil - 'Europa is van Picasso, India is van mij', nu te zien in het Drents Museum in Assen. In de tentoonstelling Amrita Sher-Gil - ‘Europa is van Picasso, India is van mij' maak je kennis met Amrita Sher-Gil, grondlegger van de moderne Indiase kunst. Dit is de allereerste tentoonstelling van Sher-Gil in Nederland.        De tentoonstelling in het Drents Museum toont foto's en bijna vijftig schilderijen en tekeningen van de Hongaars-Indiase Amrita Sher-Gil (Boedapest 1913 – Lahore 1941). Ze leefde slechts 28 jaar, maar liet een indrukwekkend en invloedrijk oeuvre na waarin moderne Europese schilderkunst samensmelt met Indiase kleuren, thema's en verhalen. Haar werk is voor het eerst in bijna twintig jaar weer te zien in Europa. 

"Er zit een honderdjarige historie achter de TT. Er komen ook weer honderd jaar aan", zegt TT-directeur Mark van Aalderen. Drenthe Toen is dus mooi op tijd voor een bezoek aan het tijdelijke Pop-up TT Museum in Assen.

In Radio Meerdijk een blik op de vele wijzigingen aan De Oude Meerdiik in de selectie, staf en clubleiding. Te gast is supporter en sponsor Dènis Assen. Hoe kan FC Emmen de harten van supporters en sponsoren heroveren? Ondernemer Assen verwerkte het rampseizoen van zijn club op geheel eigen wijze. Hij analyseerde de wedstrijden en bekeek zelfs alle 72 tegentreffers terug. Zijn conclusie is niet mals. „We zijn nooit met dezelfde basis gestart, er zijn dik dertig spelers gebruikt en Menno van Dam koos elf verschillende spelsystemen'', beschrijft hij het recept voor tegenvallers. „Wij wilden zelf heel goed spelen, maar werden vrij eenvoudig bespeeld, zeker na de winterstop toen tegenstanders ons voor de tweede keer troffen. Veertig procent van alle tegendoelpunten kwam voort uit balverlies. Zonder Luca Unbehaun op doel hadden we er misschien wel 100 om de oren gekregen'', stelt de zelfverklaard ‘Keukentafel-td' van Emmen. ­ Assen twijfelde net als veel andere ondernemers over een verlenging van zijn sponsorcontract met de club, maar keert toch weer terug op zijn vertrouwde stekkie. „Dat komt ook omdat mensen als Ernst Söllner en Henk Eising hun rol pakken. Dat zijn echte ondernemers die geen nee kennen en het onmogelijke weten te realiseren. Juist dat heeft de club nu nodig.'' Zowel de ‘as' van de organisatie als die van het hernieuwde elftal gaan ondertussen flink op de schop. In Radio Meerdijk bespreekt Assen samen met clubwatcher Pim Siegers en presentator William Pomp het verlanglijstje van de club, met daarop opvallend veel toppers uit het amateurvoetbal en ex-spelers van Cambuur. ­ Dat coach Menno van Dam de kans krijgt om uit de nieuwe spelersgroep een goed elftal te smeden lijkt inmiddels een zekerheidje. „Dat Van Dam op de bok blijft in Emmen wordt met de dag duidelijker en met Björn Zwikker krijgt hij een talentvolle toevoeging aan zijn staf. Hertentamen voor de trainer dus'', vertelt Siegers. Met oudtestamenticus Koert van Bekkum (Theologische Universiteit Utrecht) en systematisch theoloog Gijsbert van den Brink (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam). Precies honderd jaar geleden verloor dominee Geelkerken zijn ambt omdat hij openlijk twijfelde of de slang in Genesis 3 werkelijk hardop had gesproken. De gereformeerde synode van Assen legde vast: alles in Genesis 2 en 3 heeft zintuigelijk waarneembaar plaatsgevonden. Maar was dat terecht? En wat betekent die uitspraak voor hoe we vandaag de Bijbel lezen? Bijbelwetenschapper Koert laat zien waarom Genesis 1-11 een ander soort tekst is dan veel gelovigen gewend zijn te denken — en waarom dat erkennen niets afdoet aan het gezag van de Schrift. Integendeel volgens hem. Gijsbert maakt een onderscheid tussen de Bijbel letterlijk nemen en de Bijbel serieus nemen. 'De bijbellezer die zegt: ik lees gewoon wat er staat - die is eigenlijk al veel meer door de moderniteit beïnvloed dan hij doorheeft.'  En ze bespreken waarom de zondeval voor hen wél een historisch karakter heeft. Want als dat slechts een verhaal is en God in het verleden niet echt met mensen iets gedaan heeft, waarom zou Hij dat dan nu wel doen? Dick en Daniël vragen ook naar het hellend-vlak-argument. Veel gelovigen redeneren: als Genesis niet letterlijk gelezen wordt, wat staat er dan daarna ter discussie? En hoe lees je als niet-theoloog de Bijbel op een goede manier, zonder te verzanden in vragen die je onzeker maken?

We mogen ons dit jaar gaan opmaken voor een bijzondere editie van de Eredivisie Beachvolleybal. Niet alleen heeft Robijn Quickwash zich verbonden als naamgevend sponsor aan de tour, maar dit jaar zijn ook Assen en Lelystad nieuw als speelsteden. Daarmee is de tour, die negen stops telt, beter verspreid over het hele land dan ooit. Als wij denken aan de journalistiek denken we aan: de waakhond van de democratie! Aan de macht bevragen en controleren, aan schrijven over onrechtvaardigheid in de hoop verandering teweeg te brengen die de samenleving ten goede komt. Maar in de praktijk zien we vaak iets anders gebeuren. Onder de noemer ‘objectiviteit’, ‘onpartijdigheid’ of ‘we weten nog te weinig om écht te kunnen oordelen’ houdt de journalistiek de macht vaak de hand boven het hoofd. Journalisten die zich wél wagen aan systeemkritiek - bijvoorbeeld door institutioneel racisme te onderzoeken - worden al snel weggezet als ‘activist’ en dat is binnen de journalistiek een vies woord. Maar wat hebben we aan journalistiek die niet probeert om daadwerkelijk iets voor elkaar te krijgen? De macht niet écht bevraagt? En claimt objectief te zijn maar in werkelijkheid vooral wegkijkt van onderdrukking?Weinig. misschien wel: NIETS. Vaste luisteraars weten dat wij regelmatig onze feministische hoeden zitten op te vreten omdat de journalistiek het - in onze ogen - laat afweten, maar gelukkig is daar: journalist Fréderike Geerdink! Ze zit al een eeuwigheid in het vak en door de jaren heen veranderde haar kijk op de journalistieke zaak. Ze schreef een boek waarin ze de Nederlandse journalistiek en haar eigen werk onder de loep neemt, met als knallende conclusie: journalisten zouden - net als activisten - sociale verandering moeten nastreven. Met andere woorden: Alle journalistiek is activisme. Verder: de muziekindustrie blijkt wit en geldbelust. We zijn niet verrast, maar wel teleurgesteld. Tim and Steve were lucky enough to jump on a call with a regular BSB, WSBK and MotoGP marshal and here it is. Mark is marshalling at every BSB event this year and has also been to both Silverstone and Assen in marshal for MotoGP. The insight he gives into this side of motorcycle racing is a fascinating glimpse into the people that we only ever see brief snippets of on the TV screen and almost never hear from! Mark was kind enough to share some articles published by a fellow marshal after the tragic events of the opening round of BSB. When Tragedy Strikes – Written in the imediate aftermath of the race weekend. Becasue It's What We Do – Written after the following round. These articles are well worth a read and deliver a fascinating view into the mind of the author, who marhsalled both of the races mentioned. And if you thought marshalling was risk free, check out this video of a crashed motorcycle coming very close to hitting the marshals! Tank Slappers is back to review a hectic German GP at the Sachsenring, which celebrated a record crowd of over 250,000 across the four days. Marc Marquez took his fourth consecutive double victory and seventh in 2025 so far, but he had to earn his 10th Sprint win of the season after an early mistake dropped him to fifth on the opening lap. Dre Harrison, Richard Asher and Oriol Puigdemont break down why Marquez is still "cruising" at this level, including his seven-second victory in Sunday's Grand Prix.  The German GP was also a race of extreme attrition. By the time the race started, the field was down to 18 starters, with Maverick Vinales and Franco Morbidelli out via injury, and Enea Bastianini suffering a bout of appendicitis. To make matters worse, only 10 riders finished the race, the lowest amount for a MotoGP race since Australia 2011. Why? Six crashes at Turn 1, one of the nastiest on the calendar. Dre explains what makes the hairpin at the Sachsenring one of the trickiest on the whole calendar.  There's also reaction to the news that the Jorge Martin contract dispute is seemingly over, with the World Champion set to stay at the team and announce said news at a press conference in Brno next week. Oriol explains how a protracted court battle and the Assen speech made by Carmelo Ezepelta left Martin virtually no choice but to concede in his fight against Aprilia. 

The guys get together again to talk about the action from Assen. This year the cathedral celebrated 100 years of racing. The action fast and furious as a number of riders had crashes on Friday. Marc Marquez and Ai Ogura having the biggest ones. The racing action started off with Moto3 and the pack racing was tight and exciting as always. The lunette crash at the chicane saw the Italian struck by Furusato. This brought out a red flag once the leaders had reach the 4th sector. Jim then goes on a rant, arguing that the red flag should have been displayed by at least sector two. The Moto2 race featured Moreira winning the race after stalking Canet the whole way. With this win Moreira becomes the first Brazilian to win a Moto2 race. MotoGp was also a crash filled event. The Sprint went off with out a hitch and saw Marc Marquez make a great start from the second row to win with his brother in second and Bezzecchi a strong third. Sunday Marc had another great start and cruised to victory at the slowest possible speed. Alex and Acosta tangled with Alex suffering a broke hand in the accident and Acosta was accused by Marc of riding too aggressively. Bagnaia set several fastest laps looked good and hopefully the podium will help him to fight at the front for the rest of the year. Dre Harrison and Oriol Puigdemont return to host another edition of Tank Slappers, as Marc Marquez made history at the 100th Anniversary of racing at the Assen TT. With his 68th Premier Class victory, he tied the legendary Giacomo Agostini for second on the all-time wins list, with only Valentino Rossi ranking higher. But Marquez didn't have it easy - Aprilia's Marco Bezzecchi pushed him all the way to the flag, but was unable to get close enough to pass for the win. Dre and Oriol discuss how this plays perfectly into the Mugello talk from fans and some members of the media in regards to Alex Marquez's racecraft and the allegations that the Marquez brothers weren't racing each other hard enough, and why more criticism should be levelled at Pecco Bagnaia's garage... There's more on Alex Marquez during the show, after the Spaniard broke the metacarpal in his hand after crashing into Pedro Acosta in the Grand Prix, and with it, falling to 68 points behind brother Marc in the Championship standings.  Jorge Martin is back in the news after his agent continued to up the pressure on Aprilia, by claiming his client is still leaving at the end of the season, with Aprilia continuing to deny that the release clause exists in a feud where even Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezepelta's had to intervene.
