This week's episode is brought to you by Yamaha. Are you ready to experience the motorcycle that is redefining the Supersport class? The new Yamaha YZF-R9 with its 890cc CP3 engine delivers incredible power and torque. Its lightweight aluminum frame, carefully developed rider's ergonomics, and adjustable KYB suspension, provide spectacular agility and control. Ride MotoGP-inspired aerodynamics with the R9's winglets, designed to enhance handling and agility. The R9 is more than just a machine; it's an experience. With its aggressive R-Series bodywork, LED lighting, and Brembo Stylema front brake calipers, every detail is impressive. The YZF-R9: Accessible Supersport performance starting at $12,499. Visit YamahaMotorsports.com to learn more. * * * * * In this first segment this episode, I chat with Tom Montano about riding the new Yamaha R9. He attended the launch recently at Sonoma Raceway in Northern California. You may remember Tom from the Podcast he did with us a couple of years ago… he's a highly experienced, fast guy, with 14 race starts at the Isle of Man TT to his name. So the Supersport Yamaha seems like the perfect fit to be ridden on track by such a great rider. * * * * * Watching the Isle of Man TT this week, I noticed that almost all the riders racing there wear an Arai helmet—and that includes Michael Dunlop, now the all-time record holder with 32 TT wins to his name. Why do you think Arai is so popular at the world's most dangerous motorcycle race event? Well, Arai's mission has always been the protection and comfort of every person who chooses an Arai helmet. Their foundational principles of protection first, exceptional quality, and rider comfort have never been forgotten in over six decades of helmet design and manufacturing. But beyond comfort, protection is really the critical reason to wear an Arai. The Snell Standard, said to be the strictest in the world, has a 17mph drop speed for the shock absorption test. As riders, we ride faster than that on a daily basis. Therefore, in the unlikely event of a crash, Arai knows it is important to “slide and avoid direct impacts to reduce the amount of impact energy that enters the helmet as much as possible”. There's a lot of reasons why you should join the most demanding riders in the world and wear an Arai helmet. To learn more, visit www.AraiAmericas.com * * * * * Today's Snippet brings you the newly launched X5 camera from Insta360, a leader in 360-degree action camera technology. The Kawasaki Z900 is an inline-4 first launched in 2017, although of course its DNA can be traced all the way back to the original Midnight Prowler Z1 from the 1970s. I'm proud to say that I've owned both of these machines—the original 1976 Z900 back when I lived in England, and subsequently, I also owned a 2019 Z900 now that I'm an American. That latter model was inexpensive but also fairly basic. However, it was impressive; an excellent street bike that suited my needs at the time. Having said that, it did need a few upgrades. Well, it seems Kawasaki agree, and recently launched the Z900 SE edition—and I believe it fits the bill nicely. Matt Ayhan went to the launch, and gives us the low down. * * * * * Hey, adventure riders, are you ready to take your rides to the next level? Introducing the SCHUBERTH E2—the second generation of SCHUBERTH's legendary adventure helmets! Plus, the SCHUBERTH E2 features a new enlarged spoiler for better aerodynamics and an air extractor for a quieter, more comfortable ride. The SCHUBERTH E2 meets the highest safety standards. The E2 also comes with a pre-installed comms system, so you can stay connected on the go. Matt Ayhan also went to the launch of the new Insta360 X5 camera at Inde Motorsports Ranch in Arizona. Our friends from the Yamaha Champions Riding School were there with riding tips and the awesome fleet of Yamahas they provide. Matt gives me his impressions of the new X5 camera and why it is making such a splash in the world of action cameras. Melissa was a fierce and fearless competitor when she was racing full-time. She broke barriers in a male-dominated sport, and made history as the first woman to qualify for a World Supersport race, and also achieved the highest female finish in the Daytona 200 that year finishing in the top 10. Other career highlights include winning the Lightweight GP National Championship, and earning multiple top-10 finishes in the MotoAmerica Supersport class. Melissa was also part of the first all-female team to complete the Bol d'Or 24 Hour World Endurance Championship race, and repeated that feat at LeMans a year later. Now she's translated her competitive skills to her Moto America race team named MP13. The team now competes in the Supersport and Super Twins categories. Married to five-time AMA Superbike champion Josh Hayes, this amazing and inspirational lady manages to balance her and Josh's racing exploits while they raise their two kids as well. Jake Lewis's 2024 MotoAmerica season was what you could call sneaky good. Until you look at the results, you probably don't know that Lewis ended the season ranked fourth in Supersport (with four podiums and a win), third in the Mission Super Hooligan National Championship (with a win), and seventh in the Mission King Of The Baggers title chase. And Lewis has kept that momentum going with an exhilarating victory in the second of two Hooligan races at Daytona International Speedway to start his season, a season that will see him racing again in Hooligan and King Of The Baggers as well as Supersport - this time on a Altus Motorsports Yamaha YZF-R9. We caught up with Lewis from his palatial estate in Kentucky to talk about all that and more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show

The opening round of the 2025 WorldSBK season is in the books and Nicolo Bulega dominated the opening weekend. It was a textbook weekend for the Aruba.it Ducati rider but as Steve and Gordo explain it also meant the stories of the weekend were elsewhere. Most of the stories focused on Toprak Razgatlioglu and his BMW. On Sunday evening the reigning champion dropped a bombshell that he would consider quiting the series if changes weren't made. Was it postering? As Gordo explains the weekend wasn't quite as bad as a 20 point haul would indicate. As the year come to an end, and the seasons change, snow begins to fall! For those of us that love life on two wheels, what better way to enjoy the snow, then to figure out how to still ride bikes in it!!! Insert half snowmobile half dirtbike, and 100% insanity here! Kohl decided with all this motorcycling he's doing in life, maybe it's time to give the snow bike thing a shot, so we're looking forward to hearing all about his adventures out in the cold!! Back in the real world, we see some interesting moves being made by teams in Moto America, to include the Yamaha team in the SuperSport class deciding to run an R9 under their top rider for the 2025 season, it seems this may mark the official death of the beloved R6 and the end of the 600cc supersports all together!! It is sad to see this icon move on, but exciting to see where the world will go, and what else manufacturers will develop as times and emissions requirements continue to change!! Lastly, who will make their way back to MotoGP with the upcoming changes coming our way for the 2027 season, will we see Suzuki make a come back, or will BMW steal the teams out from under Ducati to make their presence known in the top racing class in the world!!!! https://www.bittingermotorsports.com/ (Weekly Tip: Learn to Pass)
Blake Davis first showed up for a MotoAmerica race at the ripe young age of 14 at Road Atlanta in 2020. Polite, funny and tiny, Davis was an instant hit. Fast forward four years and he's now he's a two-time MotoAmerica Twins Cup Champion and a factor at the sharp end of MotoAmerica Supersport races, In fact, Davis earned his first Supersport victory in the season's finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park en route to finishing third in the championship behind heavy hitters Mathew Scholtz and PJ Jacobsen. We caught up with Davis for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice to chat about his successful career thus far and much, much more.Support the show

Welcome to our 300th episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice, and we can't think of a better guest to share the milestone episode with than Rahal Ducati Moto's Kayla Yaakov. When we started this podcast in 2018, Yaakov was 11 years old and now she's a top-level racer in the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship. Yaakov has moved up through the MotoAmerica ranks quickly, beginning in Mini Cup before a move to Junior Cup, Twins Cup and now to Supersport. She's only one step away from being a Superbike racer, which is her goal. Yaakov finished seventh in her rookie season of Supersport racing with two podiums, including a second-place finish at Ridge Motorsports Park. Fresh from off-season knee surgery, Yaakov allowed us to take her away from her schoolwork to chat on the 300th Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Support the show
