You have to hand it to Phillip Island: there's no track quite like it. I don't mean that metaphorically, by the way - it really is unique in two very specific ways. First of all, there's the fact that this track's high speeds and twisty turns demand the type of agile bike that normal aero cannot give you. The solution? An official exception from normal aero setup. Also, this lay-out of high-speed turns makes a fool out of holeshot devices. It all results in some fantastically old-school racing, even if the new tarmac means that the troubles of the tire game are no longer what they once were. (Of course, I don't have to tell you this if you're one of our amazing Patrons - you'll have already heard all about it in Peter's Track Talk!)So what happened? Well, Raúl Fernández finally made good on that promise he showed back in Moto2 by grabbing first place in his first-ever Grand Prix win. Coming from a completely different kind of underdog-position is Fabio Di Giannantonio, who fought his way through half the grid before snatching a second place from the jaws of potential defeat. And then there's Bagnaia, who's running stream of bad luck is something we really have to talk about. Alright, that's enough of me yapping. Hit play, enjoy, and cheers!Want more? Jim and Rich review MotoGP Round 17 from Mandalika in Indonesia. After a season of relatively trouble-free speed and consistency, Marc Marquez was hit by trouble in the form of Marco Bezzecchi. It was something of a crash and injury strewn weekend with several riders missing. Through it all came Fermin Aldeguer, demonstrating why Ducati put so much faith into signing the now 20 year old. Elsewhere, Moto3 was boiling up to a big finish before the red flags came out for David Muñoz following a nasty collision with Adrián Fernández; The M3 race saw a deserving José Antonio Rueda clinch the title. Moto2 was a rather steadier affair, with the main drama coming post-race after a technical infringement disqualification for Manuel González, leaving his title position in the balance with Diogo Moreira. As ever, Jim and Rich cover the news and listener feedback. Thanks to Gareth Lock for his feedback and thanks also to Michael Leete for keeping former show host Jim Race in our collective thoughts. Marc Marquez ...season over???Gonzalez DQ'ed in Moto2?Supercross is Cleveland???? seriously???
Jim and Rich review MotoGP Round 16 from Misano in Italy. This was Marc Marquez's first shot at 2025 title glory. In the end, a crash in the Sprint Race meant the title bid moved on to Motegi but this allowed Marco Bezzecchi to shine on an Aprilia which is rapidly becoming a match for the GP25 Ducati. Elsewhere, Moto3 served up the usual close battles, whilst the Moto2 race proved slightly less eventful. Aside from the MotoGP weekend action, the lads talk through Yamaha V4 related listener feedback (thanks Jake) and the latest in 2026 rider contract news. The Catalan Gp is covered on this episode. With usually dull racing Jim and Rich jim and rich focused more on the news of the week. The announcement was that Gunther Steiner of drive to survive F1 fame is now a MotoGP own having bought the Tech3 team. Out on track the Moto3 race only became interesting in the last 5 laps. Jim was happy that for the first time in a long long time the riders kept out of the pit lane exit while riding 5 wide on the front straight. Piqueras took the win but despite a long lap penalty Rueda finished second and still has a commanding lead in the championship. In Moto2 Holgado lead every lap to take his first Moto2 win. The best par of the race was Munoz's pass of Dixion going into turn one. I was a masterful outside to inside maneuver but sadly Dixion was able to get back by in the late stages of the race. In MotoGP Marquez won, no not Marc, but Alex. Alex was unbeatable by anyone but himself as he crashed out of a comfortable win in the Sprint and handed the win to his brother. On Sunday he was unbeatable taking a commanding win after an early dice with Marc. Jim and Rich are back to talk about MotoGP Round 14 from Balaton Park in Hungary. The Hungarian MotoGP weekend was as much about the new track as the racing itself, with several incidents calling into question the suitability of the track for MotoGP action. Notwithstanding this, Moto3 dealt up another masterclass by Max Quilles, followed by more of the same from David Alonso in the Moto2 race. MotoGP was the MM93 show again but Bez, Acosta and Martin hinted at what may become a slightly closer battle out front as the season moves into the latter stages. Aside from the MotoGP weekend action, the lads talk through a bunch of listener feedback and some significant rider movements and news.
No episódio 157 do Pelas Pistas, Christian Fittipaldi, Nelsinho Piquet e Thiago Alves comentam as últimas informações do automobilismo.

The guys get together again to talk about the action from Assen. This year the cathedral celebrated 100 years of racing. The action fast and furious as a number of riders had crashes on Friday. Marc Marquez and Ai Ogura having the biggest ones. The racing action started off with Moto3 and the pack racing was tight and exciting as always. The lunette crash at the chicane saw the Italian struck by Furusato. This brought out a red flag once the leaders had reach the 4th sector. Jim then goes on a rant, arguing that the red flag should have been displayed by at least sector two. The Moto2 race featured Moreira winning the race after stalking Canet the whole way. With this win Moreira becomes the first Brazilian to win a Moto2 race. MotoGp was also a crash filled event. The Sprint went off with out a hitch and saw Marc Marquez make a great start from the second row to win with his brother in second and Bezzecchi a strong third. Sunday Marc had another great start and cruised to victory at the slowest possible speed. Alex and Acosta tangled with Alex suffering a broke hand in the accident and Acosta was accused by Marc of riding too aggressively. Bagnaia set several fastest laps looked good and hopefully the podium will help him to fight at the front for the rest of the year. Here's an extended preview of a bonus episode available in The Race Members' Club on Patreon ahead of Mugello - an exclusive one-on-one with MotoGP podium finisher turned World Superbike star Scott Redding on his fascinating career. From coming agonisingly (literally) close to winning a Moto2 title to Honda, Pramac and Aprilia stints in MotoGP before rebuilding his career with an epic British Superbike season and then his current life of highs and lows in World Superbikes, Redding's story is an incredible one with rather a lot of ‘right place, wrong time' in it.And he's superbly honest and eloquent about every bit of it in this interview with Val.Want to listen to the full interview, plus get access to more exclusive MotoGP podcast content? Apologies for the lateness of this Pod Cast! In this episode Jim and Rich cover everything from Aragon! The kick it off with some great listener feedback about semi-automated ride height devices. Then they go over the news of Martins contract issues and the semi bombshell of Toprak signing a one year deal to race a Pramac Yamaha in 2026. Finally they guys cover the racing. The Moto3 Class was a classic with the twist of making sure you picked the right tire. This odd set of conditions resulted in a first time winner Munoz who just barely defeated the new rookie sensation Quiles! The Moto2 race was the best of the weekend and also included a first time winner. Moreira rode through the pack and chased down race leader Oncu in the closing laps. Oncu never quit and kept pushing. On the last lap at the last turn Oncu rode around the outside of Moreira to win the closest Moto2 race ever by 0.003 seconds!! MotoGp was a bit boring as Marc Marquez lead every secession ook pole position and won then sprint and on Sunday lead every lap in dominate fashion to win the main event. Domination like this has not been seen in this class since Marc himself did the same thing a decade ago at the German GP in 2015. This is the domination that we all feared when Marc was chosen to ride the factory Ducati. On the bright side Pecco appears to have found the feeling again on his Ducati and may yet be able to challenge Marc. Stay tuned!
