Stefano Mesa won his first MotoAmerica Supersport race of the year in race one at Pittsburgh International Race Complex a few weeks ago. The next day he followed up his victory with another podium finish - his sixth of the year - to end the weekend third in the championship and only 13 points out of second. This week the news broke that Mesa was foregoing the Supersport class after getting a once-in-a-lifetime chance to race a full-blown, race-winning BMW M 1000 R Superbike vacated by the injured Cameron Beaubier for the Tytlers Cycle Racing team. Mesa jumped at the chance and will race the BMW at next weekend's eighth round at Circuit of The Americas and a few weeks later in the season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. We caught up with Mesa to chat about his opportunity and much more on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice. We're 11 races into a 20-race MotoAmerica Medallia Superbike Championship and things are tight at the top between Jake Gagne, Cameron Beaubier and Josh Herrin. There's been some surprises and some disappointments, but the season has been stellar and the second half is shaping up to be a thriller. What better time than now for Paul Carruthers and Sean Bice to chat with MotoAmerica Live+ analyst Roger Hayden about the season thus far and the races to come on this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/rogerhayden95/Twitter: https://twitter.com/rogerhayden95Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rogerhayden95Support the show
With three wins and five total podiums in the four rounds (eight races) held thus far in 2023, Cameron Beaubier and his Tytlers Cycle Racing team have a lot to be happy about. They've won races - even at tracks where most thought they would struggle - and sit second in the championship, 23 points behind Jake Gagne, as the series heads to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca for round five. Beaubier couldn't be happier. He's racing in the championship he's won five times, he likes his team, and he's thrilled to be able fly home the Mondays after the races to be with his wife Shelby and newborn son. Brody. It's definitely a good time to be Cameron Beaubier. We caught up with Beaubier for this week's episode of Off Track With Carruthers And Bice to talk about his return to MotoAmerica and much more. Jim and Rich catch up to cover the recent news as silly season simmers away and specifically with the recent announcement that Toprak Razgatlıoğlu will move to BMW World Superbike for 2024. Following the news and gossip we are pleased to present a number of interviews from the Moto-America paddock at Barber Motorsports Park as Scott Bolton catches up with Stefano Mesa, Matthew Scholtz, Cameron Beaubier, Xavi Fores and Rocco Landers. This is followed by some brief chats at Donington Park BSB as Rich catches up with James Whitham, Shane Byrne, Tommy Bridewell and Josh Brookes. Lots of racing to look forward to in the coming weeks, so Jim and Rich will be back soon to discuss the happenings at the Isle Of Man TT, Misano World Superbike and MotoGP from Mugello. Keep the listener feedback coming and become a paid subscriber if you can to help us deliver more content and features. Next up, Rich talks with Matt Birt from Dorna. Great conversation with James Compton in this episode. We discuss his college football career with the University of Washington as a full back and how he ended up with a 12 year race career in AMA Pro Superbike and Formula Extreme Classes. Later moving to work in the pits with such greats as Ben Spies, Cameron Beaubier, Steve Rapp, Jake Holden to name just a few. Eventually working as a crew chief for Micheal Jordan's AMA Superbike team while creating his first full custom bike, "The Crusher". All of this leading up to James Compton Customs. I had a great time visiting with James and learning about his path to success but most importantly hearing about his love for his wife and kids. There are a lot of men in this world who can claim success but few that get the chance to share it with others and even fewer with their children. The world needs a few more good fathers. Enjoy Part 1
Jim and Rich have a brief catch up to talk cancelled MotoGP rounds and the continued absence of Marc Marquez. There's a round up of last weeks World Superbike action at Assen courtesy of Eurosport's Greg Haines and Scott Bolton brings us a couple of quick chats with Cameron Beaubier and Rossi Moor from last weekends epic Moto-America round at Road Atlanta. Mathew Scholtz was having a hell of a season on his Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R1. Right up until the point when he wasn't. It all went horribly wrong at Indianapolis Motor Speedway when Scholtz and Cameron Beaubier crashed and Beaubier's bike struck Scholtz' leg. The result was surgery, the end of the South African's season and a lot of off-season rehab. But that was then and this is now and Scholtz has recovered and is ready to get down to the business of competing for the MotoAmerica Superbike Championship in 2021. Talking Motorcycles shines it's spotlight back on the MotoAmerica series in this edition of the show! Only one round remains in the AMA Superbike series and it happens September 9, 10 and 11 at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Cameron Beaubier has a 29 point advantage going into the final round. We discuss the terrible start on the 2016 season and how he and the team were able to overcome the early season deficit to be in a position to win his second AMA Superbike championship in a row! Beaubier gives us his take on riding the Pata Yamaha at Donington and his thoughts on racing abroad vs in America!
