In this episode of the Grip Strip Podcast, Austin Cindric wins the NASCAR Cup at Talladega, while Toyotas attempt to race around the half-throttle action. Austin Hill wins for the first time at Dega with a late yellow in XFinity. Cleetus McFarland gets a Top 10 in the ARCA race, which wasn't a total cluster. The announcing was also good since Jamie Little wasn't on the call. Thoughts about the "run what you brung" All-Star Race idea being canned along with Lionel halting die-cast production due to tariffs, but there are definitely other reasons. The podcast also reviews the NFL Draft for our teams and other key players, with the standout being Travis Hunter going to Duval. The GSP Roundup covers WRC Rally Islas Canarias, MotoGP/Moto2 at Jerez, NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at Charlotte, WSBK at Cremona, Formula E Monaco E-Prix, Indy NXT at Barber, F1 Academy at Miami. The guys preview and make picks for the F1 Grand Prix of Miami Preview, IndyCar at Barber, and NASCAR Tripleheader at Texas. Josh in the Sim Segment lets us know the information about iRacing and gaming before we close the show.
Phil and Josh return for E267 of the GSP to provide their usual unfiltered commentary on the motorsports events of the past week. At Barber, Hello Palou returned to his dominant position with a win from pole. The guys discussed the fully green flag event, standout performers behind the champ, and the points heading to the Indy Road Course. Anytime motorsports take place at Texas Motor Speedway, expect Phil and Josh to let you know their thoughts. In this case, why any racing takes place at that dump. Like certain people's facilities, this track is godawful and shouldn't have any part in determining champions in any series outside the Bass masters. Three pseudo demolition derbies took place across the major NASCAR series, with Joey Logano, Kyle Larson (subbing for Connor Zilisch) and Corey Heim win in Cup, XFinity and Trucks. Formula 1 raced at the Dolphins' stadium parking lot Grand Prix after announcing a 16-year extension for nobodies benefit. The most compelling race of the weekend was the drivers doing a parade lap in full size Lego cars. In the sprint race, Lewis Hamilton was a Fred Alonso crash away from possibly taking his second sprint victory due to the variable conditions. In the actual race, Oscar Piastri proved once again why he is the measure to fight versus Fish Lips and look to earn McLaren their first driver's title since Hamilton in 2008. Phil discusses the ApexOne GT3 sim league on Assetto Corsa Competitizione and his breakdowns of the splits plus his chances (or lack thereof). The guys discuss Homestead being announced as the finale for the 2026 NASCAR season, which is a welcome relief for numerous NASCAR fans. They will rotate the race among multiple warmer weather sites, so Las Vegas could finally be an option. The GSP Roundup covers F1 Academy, Indy NXT, Formula E, WSBK, IMSA, WEC, MotoGP/Moto2, and Supercars before the race previews and picks for IndyCar at the Indy Road Course plus NASCAR Cup and Trucks at Kansas. Josh previews his opportunity to become a two-time iRacing Indy 500 champ in the Sim Segment along with everything else going on this month as a lead up to the Greatest Day in Motorsports.

After Rory McIlroy dramatically became the sixth golfer in the modern history of the game to win the career Grand Slam at The Masters, Phil and Josh return to discuss this momentous occassion and everything that went on in the world of motorsports. Kyle Kirkwood added his name to the illustrious history at Long Beach, becoming a two-time winner of the event after winning pole for both races. Alex Palou's early season winning streak was ended, but he still had a strong finish. Multiple pit strategies and a completely green flag race made it interesting, while Penske's performance definitely was not Penske Perfect. Kyle Larson dominated 2/3 of the weekend at Bristol, winning the Cup and XFinity races. Yung Money ended up 2nd behind Chandler Smith in the Truck Series event. Rajah Carruth and Martinsville winner Daniel Hemric both had solid days along with the Niece duo. Oscar Piastri inserted himself into the title discussion with a dominant weekend at Bahrain, culminating in a win from pole. The McLaren driver held off Woody Russell and teammate Lando Norris to take the top step. Fish Lips was nowhere the entire weekend while Ferrari had mixed fortunes. Phil is competing as an Am in the ApexOne GT3 Endurance race at Catalunya, so he gives his thoughts on ACC and his feelings going into the event. Can Phil come through with a victory? Someone who many thought would have a victory at Augusta long before Sunday was Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irishman made it unnecessarily interesting throughout the final round, but held on in the first hole of the playoff to make history. Phil was focused on the Masters because it has always been his favorite golf tournament of the year, while Rory's win also was a happy result. The GSP Roundup covered F2/F3/F1 Academy, IMSA, MotoGP/Moto2, Supercars, Formula E, WSBK, WEC and Anthony Wayne Stewart's first career Top Fuel win at Las Vegas in the Four Wide Nationals, with Austin Prock (Funny Car) and Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) taking the Wally's in their respective classes. Phil and Josh preview the Rockingham return for XFinity and Trucks and make picks along with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix Formula One race before Josh's Sim Segment and Show Close.

IndyCar Season Finale in Nashville Colton Herta made a late move to pass Pato O'Ward, earning his first win on an oval track. Hello Palou is a three-time IndyCar champion, partly because Whinge Power had a problem with his lap belt that led to a long pit stop. We're also looking for updates on the Leaders Circle battle, as well as points standings and news. In NASCAR at Watkins Glen, Christopher Buescher took the win after overtaking SVG on the final lap, marking his first victory in road racing in the Cup Series. Many drivers competing for points faced challenges, but some managed to improve their standings. There are other important stories and points updates to consider as we head to Bristol. Connor Zilisch dominated his XFinity debut, becoming the second youngest driver to win in the series. Late-race chaos influenced the points race as we approach the regular season finale at Bristol. We also have news on a strong rookie class for 2025 and CW's upcoming broadcasts. At the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri overtook Charl Eclair early on and went on to secure a strong second win in his F1 career. Woody finished third, benefiting from crashes involving Checo Perez and Carlos Sainz on the last lap. Fish Lips and LH faced difficulties throughout the weekend. We'll also cover other significant stories and points updates as we head to the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend. In NFL Week 2, we have fantasy updates and a GSP roundup. F2 raced in Baku last week, and this week it's F1 Academy. The WEC was in Fuji last week, and IMSA is at Indy this week. NHRA raced at Maple Grove last week and is heading to Charlotte this week. The IndyNXT season concluded in Nashville, while Supercars had the Sandown 500 with Toyota entering the series with the Supra and a V8 engine, partnering with WalkinshawAndrettiUnited and another team. MotoGP, Moto2, and WSBK all took place in Italy. We'll preview the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix and the NASCAR tripleheader at Bristol, discussing who might be eliminated from the playoffs in both the Cup and XFinity series. Don't miss Josh's Sim Segment, and that wraps up our show!
NASCAR had a big race weekend at Bristol, and Yung Money really took charge, moving on to the next round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, MTJ, Keebler Gibbs, Brad K, and Harrison Burton were knocked out of the competition. There were issues with the tires, and the car didn't perform well on the short tracks and road courses. As we look ahead to the Kansas races, Cold Custard won the XFinity race and secured the Regular Season Championship. Allgaier had a rough time and lost the RST. The lineup stays the same as we head to Kansas. Layne Riggs continues his winning streak with a victory at Bristol, and most of the playoff drivers did well. The points are tight as we head to Kansas. In F1, the Singapore Grand Prix was exciting with Lando winning pole position and the race. Fish Lips finished second and Piastri came in third. Ferrari had a tough time in qualifying, and Mercedes struggled throughout the weekend. Danny Ric made a splash in his final F1 race by snagging the fastest lap. As we enter a three-week break before the U.S. Grand Prix, the NFL's third week has left both of us feeling a bit unhappy. In GSP updates, last week featured NHRA racing in Charlotte and this week at Gateway. MotoGP and Moto2 raced in Italy last week and are moving to Indonesia this week. WSBK was in Italy last week and is heading to Aragon next. IMSA was at Indianapolis, Supercars had the Sandown 500, F1 Academy raced in Singapore, and the WRC is in Rally Chile. Looking ahead to NASCAR's events at Kansas, we'll preview the races in Trucks, XFinity, and Cup to see who might get eliminated and who could start strong. Finally, Josh will share his sim segment before we wrap up the show.

Jim and Rich are back to keep track of the MotoGP championship as the current triple header hits its mid-point at the Mandalika International Circuit in Indonesia. The guys run through listener feedback and news before jumping in to talk through the 4 races. It was a hot and sticky round with crashes, blow ups and a continuation of the Bagnaia-Martin to and fro at the head of the championship. With Indonesia done, the MGP circus heads this weekend to Motegi in Japan. The guys also touch on the WSBK races from Aragon as Toprak returned and eked out a small championship lead again. Noteworthy was the return to the winners enclosure for Andre Iannone who became the 14th rider to secure wins in both MotoGP and WSBK. Moto America has officially come to an end for 2024 so it's time for a little season recap! From the start of the season it appeared that we would have a repeat of the previous years, but the Red Mist rose to the fight and secured himself another championship win after 11 years without! Beyond Josh ending an 11 year drought for himself he also secured Ducati their first in 16 years!! Outside of Moto America we travel across the pond to cover the weekend with WSBK where Toprak continues to gain the points he needs to also secure a championship. Most would say he has that nailed down, but the season is far from over and anything could happen. In the land of Moto GP we had quite the weekend with Jorge Martin making everyone question his odds of winning a championship on the Ducati. Meanwhile on Sunday Marquez and Bastianini both lost some hefty points in the fight due to DNF's. https://www.bittingermotorsports.com/ (Weekly Tip: Smooth Operator) MotoGP Fantasy League Code: CVYZ2MY7 (log onto MotoGP Fantasy and enter code or search JKMoto Podcast) https://fantasy.motogp.com/

Jim and Rich look back at the first of the MotoGP double headers at Misano. The Moto3 race dished up what might well prove to be the race of the season. Elsewhere, the racing was a bit more predictable but with a rain shower creating jeopardy and opportunity in the main MotoGP race an old hand came to the fore. Elsewhere in the show the chaps go through recent news and enjoy some listener feedback from Chris Boyce and Gary Shavit. There is also some news from WSBK at Magy Cours where Toprak Razgatlıoğlu and Adrián Huertas amongst others survived scares on track and where a peculiarity of the weather and the rules threw up an interesting question about the dreaded long lap penalty. Phil and Josh have plenty to talk about on E230 of the GSP after the NASCAR tripleheader at Indy, IndyCar at Toronto and Formula 1 in Hungary. Larson jumps the last restart and through a technicality wins his first Brickyard 400. Phil goes after William Byron after he called Chase Briscoe a squirrel while fellow young guns John Hunter Nemechek and Carson Hocevar caused massive incidents of their own. Fuel mileage was the name of the game with YRB in position to win and sweep the season for Penske in the big races while former teammate Brad Keselowski tried to harken back to the old days with his fuel saving. Riley Herbst drifted through Turn 4 on the final lap of the XFinity race to win for the second time in his career. Stewart-Haas had the best race cars at the track in the precursor to the Brickyard 400. Ty Majeski gets his first win of 2024 in the Truck Series and repeats at IRP while Corey Heim throws a *&^%$ fit at championship rival Christian Eckes. IndyCar saw Colton Herta destroy the field throughout the entire weekend at Toronto. Andretti Global took a 1-2 finish while Alex Palou started deep in the field and still finished fourth. A massive turn one wreck with ARCA brakes action destroyed multiple cars including the McLaren of Pato O'Ward and Root Beer Float Head. Speaking of McLaren, Oscar Piastri became a first-time winner in Formula 1 at the Hungarian Grand Prix after plenty of assistance from the pit wall to convince teammate Lando Norris to move over after McLaren screwed up the strategy. Fish Lips was definitely in a mood after completing a sim race earlier that morning and lost out on the final podium place to Sir Lewis Hamilton. Ferrari wasn't as fast as the top three teams but salvaged their day along with poor qualifying efforts by Perez and Russell ending up with points. The Roundup covers F2/F3, NHRA, WSBK, Supercars, WRC and Formula E before the guys preview the Belgian Grand Prix for Formula 1 and make their picks. Josh lets us know his exploits on iRacing and gaming in the Sim Segment before calling it a night.
When it comes to motorcycle racing, Chaz Davies has pretty much done it all, from 125cc, 250cc and MotoGP racing to World Supersport and World Superbike, and from riding in America to MotoE, he's been there and done that. And not only that, but he's one of the nicest guys in the game.Ducati Diaries host Neil Hodgson takes Chaz Davies down memory lane to the early years of his career and early rivalries with the likes of Casey Stoner. The journey to his current ride in the MotoE championship is the sort of stuff that racing legends are made of, with the epic battles against Jonathan Rea just one of the many highlights.Get ready for a chat that takes on racing rivalries, team dynamics and the life of an international top racer. This podcast is powered by Ducati UK: https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/home
Eight years after his first win at The Tricky Triangle in Cup, Ryan Blaney held off arguably the best driver ever at the track in Dennis Hamlin to win for the second time there in front of his fiance's family. Phil and Josh get into everything that went on at Pocono, the other key players and the points heading to the Brickyard 400. Cole Custer has been close all year, but finally came through with his first XFinity win of the season and solidified his points lead in the process. On the heels of likely being called back to Cup, Custer battled with Justin Allgaier and Byron to get the victory. Corey Heim held off Christian Eckes to win his fifth Truck race of 2024, continuing the trend between the two best drivers and teams in the series. The guys look at the races and recap the points heading to Indy. A goofy repave, extreme heat and super hard tires made the IndyCar doubleheader at Iowa a procession. Penske drivers Scott McLaughlin and William Power took the wins while Iowa dominator Josef Newgarden had a rare mis-step at one of his best tracks. Alex Palou crashed in race one but recovered in race two to maintain his points lead heading to Toronto. For the GSP Roundup, Phil looks at WEC, IMSA, WSBK, Extreme E, F2/F3, Supercars, WRC, NHRA, and Formula E's season finale. Previews and Picks are next with the Hungarian Grand Prix for F1, IndyCars at Toronto and the NASCAR tripleheader at Indy culminating with the 30th anniversary edition of the Brickyard 400. Josh lets us know all things going on in iRacing with his Sim Segment prior to saying see ya later!
For the first time in 2.5 years, Sir Lewis Hamilton got on the top step of the podium with his 104th victory and record-breaking ninth British Grand Prix win. Phil was a complete disaster post race but was able to keep it together with Josh to talk about all the happenings at Silverstone. McLaren made multiple strategy errors that left Lando Norris in third behind his BFF Verstappen and Red Bull, even though they were the third best car. The guys get into all of the key calls, other battles and the points heading to Hungary. Pato O'Ward took his first win on track in two years after a spirited battle with defending series champion Alex Palou to win the Honda Grand Prix at Mid-Ohio. In the debut of the hybrids, the race ran green from start to finish and only one person DNF'ed. That person was six-time Mid-Ohio winner and series champion Scott Dixon, who lost plenty of ground to Palou with the hybrid issues he and the No. 9 team faced. Scotty Mac and the Thirsty Three's finished in third but plenty of silly season stuff happening along with a points recap heading to Iowa. NASCAR made their second trip to the Streets of Chicago, with the Cup Series racing in the rain for the second consecutive year. Shane Van Gisbergen was the overwhelming favorite going in and definitely had a car to repeat. However, horrible conditions and Chase Briscoe having no brakes sent SVG into the fence and out of the race. Plenty of argy bargy went on including eventual winner Alex Bowman cleaning out Darrell Wallace, Jr. Bubba showed his displeasure after the race and paid the price on a day that Toyota seemed to have the handle, with teammate Tyler Reddick possibly throwing away victory with a mistake on the last lap. The guys get into the horrendous management of the race itself along with starting it so late that it put the race into torrential rain. Teams finally were able to choose what tires to run and NASCAR actually made it a timed race after long delays. Points are reviewed with another new winner heading to Pocono. SVG held off Kyle Larson to win his third consecutive XFinity road course race, which was the first dry race on the streets of Chicago. The battle between Van Gisbergen, Larson and Keebler Gibbs was the main storyline in a race that definitely featured a lot of carnage. Phil and Josh review the points heading to Pocono. A busy GSP Roundup covers F2/F3, MotoGP/Moto2, Indy NXT, WEC, IMSA, WSBK and Extreme E before the guys come back to preview the Iowa IndyCar doubleheader and make their picks. They also make their picks for the Pocono NASCAR tripleheader before Josh's Sim Segment and calling it a day.
Jim and Rich (who stayed up until the wee hours of the morning) discuss the action from Assen. The Moto3 race was the best of the weekend and gets the most love from the guys. Moto2 was a good race with a surprise penalty making the finish close. THe MotoGP races were lackluster as Pecco and Martin dominated the weekend. Please send Rich questions for the WSBK riders! Coming off Father's Day weekend, Phil and Josh have their thoughts on Ryan Blaney's first win of 2024 in the Cup Series debut at Iowa Speedway and much more. The guys discuss the race and how the usual suspects had their issues along with tires playing a big part in a solid race. Blaney became a winner in all three series at Iowa Speedway in front of over 150 friends and family. In terms of family and home tracks, nobody has more than Martin Truex, Jr. who announced his full-time retirement from Cup racing after this season. Phil and Josh talk about what MTJ has meant to the sport and his rise to champion driver after a slow start to his career. They also go over who is in play for that car. On the XFinity side, Sam Mayer takes another victory at the expense of Riley Herbst. Phil gets some golf talk into the show with Rory McIlroy's collapse at the US Open and Bryson DeChambeau following in the footsteps of fellow SMU alum Payne Stewart as a US Open champion at Pinehurst No. 2 and continues his Captain America arc. The GSP Roundup recaps the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Supercars at Darwin, WSBK at Misano and previews the Six Hours at The Glen for IMSA, Indy NXT at Laguna Seca for a doubleheader, F2/F3/F1 Academy at Barcelona and the NHRA Virginia Nationals. Phil and Josh come back together to preview the Spanish Grand Prix and make their picks for who may finish behind Fish Lips. IndyCar goes to Laguna Seca and the guys make their picks for that event along with Cup & XFinity at New Hampshire. Josh lets us know all things going on in iRacing in the Sim Segment before the close.
Talking to Neil Hodgson in the first episode of Ducati Diaries is motorcycle racing legend Casey Stoner, who shares some incredible insights into his journey to the top of the sport as well as the challenges he faced. Casey enjoyed a glittering career with two MotoGP championships, but made a shock decision to retire from the sport aged only 27. He talks to Neil about his motivations, struggles and whether there's anything he wished he had done differently. It's a candid and captivating conversation. This podcast is powered by Ducati UK: https://www.ducati.com/gb/en/home

Jim and Rich cover all the news and the racing from Lemans. The big was the rules that were released for the 2027 MotoGP season. Then some WSBK news and then a quick MotoAmerica and Real Roads tidbits. The racing action was amazing at Lemans. In Moto3 Alonso was up to his old tricks and Jim waxes poetic about Pirelli tires. Moto2 built suspense through the entire race culminating in a fantastic last two laps. Sadly Joe Roberts podium streak and Championship lead ended. Rich them ponders why Aldeguer and others are struggling on the Pirellis. Lastly was the Motogp races and there was some incredible action in both races. Martin was awesome in taking both wins and Marc was second in both. Acosta looking decidedly pedestrian as he crashed out in the Sunday race, but Rich explains the real reason for the crash. The guys take the problem of which person to promote to the factory Ducati squad. This then causes al long foray into silly season. Finally a questions to the listeners, If Motogp bikes are slower than WSBK how do you slow the production bikes down? Write to MotoPod@motopodcast.com and let us know.
