On our latest episode of the podcast, we have a natter about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 10th and the 14th February 2025 (Episodes #11,489 - 11,494) It's all going down at the General this week, as Kevin gets some bad news about test results whilst Rob plots his 'Get Out Of Jail Free' scheme with the help of newly besotted prison guard Mandy and - in an admittedly quite surprising turn of events - Lisa Swain herself! Meanwhile, over on the Street, Shona's shocked to discover the true culprit behind the fire at Number 8 - but will she help keep the heat off the arsonist? Also this week, Gemma makes a mate in the form of newcomer Lou, Mason's funeral takes place and Cassie and Steve get caught up in that Valentine's Day feeling! Up next on the podcast, it's the news, where we celebrate Peter Ash's latest win at the TV Choice Awards and take a look at this week's offerings on ITV Reloved. We round things off as usual with more of your fabulous feedback. Street Talk - 00:12:06 The Kabin - 02:24:25 Feedback - 02:35:37
It is a privilege to welcome Taskmaster presenters Greg Davies and Alex Horne to a special edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Taskmaster is a BAFTA-winning and International Emmy-nominated comedy entertainment show initially created by Alex Horne. Greg Davies stars as the all-powerful “Taskmaster” who, with the help of his loyal assistant Horne, sets out to test the wiles, wit, and wisdom of five comedians through a series of strange and surreal challenges in what is the most hard-fought and ridiculous comedy entertainment format on TV. So far, 170 episodes have been produced in the UK as part of a landmark six-season deal with Channel 4 in 2020. The broadcaster recently renewed the agreement for six more series following nine record-breaking series on UKTV's Dave. Taskmaster has triumphed as one of Channel 4's most popular programs in recent years, coming in as the channel's third most streamed title of 2023 with 2.3 billion viewing minutes recorded across all series watched in the year. The launch episode of the latest series [S17] averaged an audience of 3.2m, with 40% of viewing coming from streaming [0-28 days, all platforms].Watched by a broad multi-generational audience, Taskmaster was Channel 4's youngest skewing series last year, and in terms of audience share of young viewers (16-34) across last year's series on the channel, it was second only to Gogglebox in the coveted 9 pm slot. Taskmaster was recently crowned Best Comedy Entertainment at the Rose d'Or Awards 2024 and has previously won Best Comedy Entertainment Show at the National Comedy Awards 2022 and 2023, Best Comedy Entertainment at the BAFTAs 2020, and Best Entertainment Programme at the Broadcast Awards 2018, having previously received two more nominations for the Broadcast Awards and recently picking up its fourth BAFTA nomination for the 2023 ceremony. It has also been nominated for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award at the NTA's 2021 and 2022, Best Comedy Entertainment at Rose d'Or 2023, Studio Entertainment at Rose d'Or 2021, Best Entertainment Programme at the RTS Awards, Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, the Broadcast Digital Awards, Edinburgh TV Award, the TV Choice Awards, and Best Returning Format in the International Format Awards 2020. The original Taskmaster program can now be seen in 120 countries. Over 92 seasons and 921 episodes have been commissioned outside the UK, with local versions now in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Croatia, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Portugal, where it ranked first for most-watched entertainment programs on its channel RTP 1. The Taskmaster YouTube channel has been hugely successful internationally, reaching over 10.9 billion impressions since its first launch in October 2019. It has just over 870 million views and over 1.6 million subscribers, of which over a third are from North America. The channel has had over 196 million hours of content viewed, with 56% of those hours from North America (108 million hours watched). The show has grown significantly in popularity with American audiences, and over the last year, there have been 123 million views. On this special edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Greg Davies and Alex Horne spoke about Taskmaster's tenth anniversary on television, previewed the Series 19 opener, and why they brought the series to the United States.Let's connect on social media: A) BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/jacobelyachar.bsky.socialB) Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/JacobElyachar/C) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jacobelyachar/D) Threads: https://www.threads.net/@jacobelyacharE) Twitter (X): https://x.com/JacobElyacharF) YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@JacobElyacharBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/jake-s-take-with-jacob-elyachar--4112003/support.
It's been a hectic week for the boys, with Sam pulling the ultimate prank on Pete, causing him to fear it was the end for both of them. But the drama doesn't stop there – Pete confronts Sam about Shaun Williamson, also known as "Barry," and is reminded of an uncomfortable 'icky' caption at the TV Choice Awards on the red carpet. On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 12th and the 16th February 2024 (Episodes #11,186 - 11,193). It's been a long while coming, but Maria, Gary and Mrs Crawshaw finally wake up to Liam's bullying this week, and not before time either as the lad's thoughts are starting to go to some very dark places... Meanwhile, Bobby and Lauren are feeling the love on Valentine's Day, and although it felt like we were getting close, we're still in the dark about who her mystery caller could be - but that doesn't stop us from theorising! Also this week, Billy gives Paul a Valentine's to remember, Tracy's up for a rematch with Tommy O but he's not playing ball, and Nick and Leanne get engaged - though by the look of all that fervent squinting from Nick, we're not sure his heart's really in the game! In The Kabin, we celebrate Maureen Lipman's win at the TV Choice Awards, and after reading out a bit more listener feedback, we round off the show with a Kabin Extra, where we chat about this week's spoilery cast announcement. On our latest podcast, we battle through the intense mugginess of the latest heatwave to bring your our thoughts on the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 8th and the 12th August (Episodes #10711 - 10716). You know those times when characters get themselves into a spot of bother that they could easily explain their way out of if they only tried? Well, it felt like we spent most of the first half of this week yelling at Stu to stop saying he's not a murderer and actually explain what happened 27 years ago. And when the explanation finally came ('A nasty policeman made me say I did it!') we still felt there must be more to this mystery than meets the eye. Thank goodness Yasmeen is being perfectly reasonable and willing to listen, forgive and forget. Oh wait... Also this week, Ryan becomes increasingly desperate in his attempts to avoid jail, Stephen joins Debbie in the 'up to your eyes in debt so let's do something dodgy' club, and Spider gets his eight legs over with Toyah. Up next in The Kabin, we take a look at who from Coronation Street has made he shortlist in the TV Choice Awards, and we finish off the podcast with more of your listener feedback. In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 6th and the 10th June (Episodes #10657- 10662). Whenever Corrie has a massive week like it did last week, it can be difficult to keep up the momentum in the following set of episodes. Fortunately, we were still gripped this week, with the mystery surrounding the exact circumstances of the crash continuing to keep us guessing. One thing's for sure, though: with all these characters suspecting Toyah purposefully slammed into that wall, and Monday's CCTV footage not particularly revealing anything new, there's definitely no way Toyah's guilty here - that's soap law. Also this week, Summer's attempt to cheat in her English exam backfires for both her and Aadi, Sean's new squeeze brings back some difficult memories for George, and Leo's new hobby causes a massive home brew-ha-ha at the Rovers. Up next on the podcast, we find out who's been nominated in this year's TV Choice Awards in the Kabin before hearing from some of our lovely listeners in the feedback section, including a review of a special Corrie coach trip last Sunday. On this week's podcast, we talk about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 3rd and the 7th May (Episodes #10315 - 10320). What a week that was, eh? There'd been rumblings and rumours for a fair few months that something big was going to go down with the Street's younger residents, and this week saw Seb and Nina set upon by Corey and his mates in scenes that echoed the vicious attack on Sophie Lancaster in Salford in 2007. With every actor pulling out the stops to deliver some of Corrie's most compelling episodes in a long while, this was a week that was, at times, quite difficult to watch - let alone record a podcast about! - but ultimately one that will be remembered for years to come and will no doubt be the catalyst for some big story and character developments as we go through 2021 and beyond. After a bumper edition of Street Talk where we're left reeling from those final moments in the hospital, we head on over to The Kabin to share the happy news of Brooke Vincent's new addition to the family as well as Corrie's nominees in this year's TV Choice Awards. That's followed by the listener feedback segment, where we read out some of your initial reactions to this week's dramatic events. Street Talk - 00:09:24 The Kabin - 02:47:44 Feedback - 02:57:35
On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 7th and the 11th September (Episodes #10,111 - 10,114). Things are slowly starting to ramp up towards next week's return to six episodes a week, and thanks to the extra half an hour of Corrie we got on Friday (as well as some brilliant twists and turns throughout the week!), we have quite a lengthy Street Talk segment this podcast, kicking off with the coercive control story. Now we all know that the concept of strong passwords doesn't exist in Weatherfield, so after a neat bit of slight of hand that would make The Great Magnifico jealous as well as some lucky guesswork, Sally gains access to Geoff's computer files - and is appalled at what she finds... Meanwhile, Gail's two boys compete to see who can have the most dramatic Friday, as Nick discovers that not only may he about to lose one son, he might also be about to gain another, and David has a massive sinkhole open up in his garden. In the Kabin, we celebrate Corrie sweeping the board at the TV Choice Awards, and we finish things off with some listener feedback on this week's dramatic events. On our latest podcast, we cover the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 9th and the 13th September. It's time for another Corrie wedding, and this week it's the turn of Daniel and Sinead; however, what starts as the discovery of a lump on her neck leads to us having a lump in our throats as we're shown some of the Street's saddest scenes since Aidan's suicide. Elsewhere on the cobbles, Vicky's gift to Robert unintentionally marks him as the dog he really is, we wave a cheerful goodbye to Kate, and there's a Cormac callback for Ryan when Ali suffers a seizure. Next up on the podcast, we delve into two of your listener questions: which Corrie character do we think would make the best Prime Minister, and which actors of Corrie past would we like to interview on the podcast? That's followed by the Kabin segment, where there's some good news for Coronation Street in the TV Choice Awards (as well, of course, of Gemma's commentary on the fashion of the evening!) and we round things off with some of your feedback on recent Corrie happenings. Street Talk - 00:08:59 Listener Questions - 02:15:15 The Kabin - 02:53:45 Feedback - 03:12:29
Katie's on holiday so it's left to Stevie and Claire to discuss the new series of Top Boy, Sky's doctor drama Temple and Jesy Nelson's forthcoming documentary. Stevie also gives us his top picks from TIFF so far and Claire's been chatting to the cast of Downton Abbey. Plus there's the drama from the TV Choice Awards and hear from a Love Islander.
On our latest podcast, we dissect the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 24th and the 28th June. This week, it seems like things are really hotting up in the Weatherfield's Next Top Villain competition, with Geoff now throwing his hat into the ring by gaslighting Yasmeen. Perhaps in retaliation, nearest competitor Gary ups the stakes further by taking over Rick's loan shark business, whilst rank outsider Robert continues his low level villainousness by going full-on with this whole double life malarkey. After Street Talk, we do our annual run down of the year so far, discussing the highs and lows of Corrie in 2019 when it comes to plot, characters and overall production. That's followed by a look at Corrie's nominations in the TV Choice Awards shortlist in the Kabin, then we round off the podcast with some of our listener's thoughts on the first half of the year, in the feedback section. Street Talk - 00:06:25 2019 So Far In Review - 01:52:07 The Kabin - 02:57:57 Feedback - 03:06:04
We're away this weekend, which means an early podcast, focusing on the episodes of Coronation Street shown in the UK between the 13th and the 15th May. This week, Roy returns from Portsmouth to find that Carla is on the run, but when she shows up at the cafe in a clearly disturbed state, can he convince her she can trust him? Meanwhile, Seb's Romanian romance continues to blossom, Street Cars faces competition from a tech-savvy rival, and Kirk's unique talents are spotted by a scout. After Street Talk, we go from Weatherfield to Westeros, as we chat about Corrie's links with Game of Thrones. Which actors have appeared in both shows? Which roles would we give to current cast members in a Corrie-only remake? What have been Coronation Street's Game of Throniest stories over the years? If you're a fan of both series, we hope you'll enjoy this little discussion! In The Kabin segment, we share our thoughts on some of the Corrie related nominations in the TV Choice Awards, and finish off with a bit of listener feedback, including an email in praise of Louiza Patikas' performance as Moira. On our latest podcast, we discuss the episodes of Coronation Street broadcast in the UK between the 10th and the 14th September. Ever since the rumours of Jim returning to the show with a grown-up dead baby Katie in tow first hit the Internet, many Corrie fans have been insensed about the prospect of such a grubby rewriting of one of the McDonalds' finest early moments. This week, we finally got to see it begin to play out on screen, and despite it turning out to be more of a con than a retcon, it seems that for many viewers, the story's still not exactly going down well. This episode, we weigh in with our thoughts on this, as well as our impressions of Evelyn Plummer, the Battersbeeb love triangle, Ryan and Ali's jolly caperings, and the downright bizarre football app story. After Street Talk, we have the first part of our Kate Oates retrospective, where we focus on what we see as the positive aspects of her tenure as producer. From our favourite characters and storylines to her hallmarks such as keeping certain big twists hidden before broadcast, we reminise about everything great about Kate. In The Kabin, we celebrate Ryan Thomas winning Celebrity Big Brother and Corrie's victory at the TV Choice Awards, then we round off the show with some feedback. On our latest podcast, we have a good old chat about the episodes of Corrie broadcast in the UK between the 25th and the 29th June. It was one of those weeks that had a load of interweaving storylines, what with Simon getting up to no good in both the Rovers and Flora story, and Steve and Tracy's relationship connecting up with both Daniel and Abi's stuff. That does make Street Talk a bit of a minefield, but we manage to make it through to the other side in a relatively organised fashion at least. That's followed by our annual 'Let's see how Corrie's done in the first half of the year' discussion, where we weigh up the highs and lows of Kate Oates' final few months as producer. In the Kabin, there's congratulations in order for new mum Helen Flanagan, and we share who has and hasn't made it onto the shortlist of the TV Choice Awards (no Connor, Charlie or Sally? They wuz robbed!). We finish off the episode with some of your emails, tweets, Facebook posts and a quick voicemail response to one of last week's messages in our feedback section.
