Every officer-involved shooting resulting in death, must be fully, fairly, and professionally investigated, whether by state law-enforcement authorities or federal law-enforcement authorities. Of course, that is NOT what's happening in connection with ICE officer Jonathan Ross's fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The federal government is abdicating its responsibility to investigate the officer-involved shooting. But what's worse, the feds are also obstructing the State's ability to investigate the homicide by refusing to provide important evidence, like Ross's gun, the ballistics evidence, and Renee Good's car - which, in a very real sense, constitutes the crime scene. There is a way for the state authorities to aggressively investigate the homicide of Renee Good, and use several legal vehicles to wrestle away from the federal government the evidence that is necessary to conduct a full investigation.Dave Aaronberg and Glenn Kirschner co-authored a piece discussing the legal tools available to Minnesota prosecutors to move forward in the investigation of the killings in Minnesota. That piece is titled, "A Blueprint for State Justice in the Wake of Federal Obstruction."Here's a link to the piece: https://open.substack.com/pub/glennki...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

The recent challenges facing our state have created widespread disruption and tragic loss of life. For the past several weeks, representatives of Minnesota's business community have been working every day behind the scenes with federal, state and local officials to advance real solutions. These efforts have included close communication with the Governor, the White House, the Vice President and local mayors. There are ways for us to come together to foster progress. With yesterday's tragic news, we are calling for an immediate deescalation of tensions and for state, local and federal officials to work together to find real solutions. We have been working for generations to build a strong and vibrant state here in Minnesota and will do so in the months and years ahead with equal and even greater commitment. In this difficult moment for our community, we call for peace and focused cooperation among local, state and federal leaders to achieve a swift and durable solution that enables families, businesses, our employees, and communities across Minnesota to resume our work to build a bright and prosperous future. “3M – William Brown, Chairman and CEOAmeriprise Financial – James Cracchiolo, Chairman and CEOAPi Group – Russell Becker, CEOBest Buy – Corie Barry, CEO C.H. There is a big difference between deporting violent criminals and what's happening now, and we need to get the distinction right. President Trump is a very strong leader, and I hope he will rise to this moment and unite the country. I am encouraged by the last few hours of response and hope to see trust rebuilt with transparent investigations. As a company, we aim to stick to our convictions and not get blown around by changing fashions too much. We didn't become super woke when that was popular, we didn't start talking about masculine corporate energy when that was popular, and we are not going to make a lot of performative statements now about safety or politics or anything else. An Anthropic spokeswoman said the company did not have contracts with ICE.ICEout.tech statement from January 24, 2026: "We condemn the Border Patrol's killing of Alex Pretti and the violent surge of federal agents across our cities. The wanton brutality we've seen from ICE and CBP has removed any credibility that these actions are about immigration enforcement. Their goal is terror, cruelty, and suppression of dissent. This must end. Tech professionals are speaking up against this brutality, and we call on all our colleagues who share our values to use their voice. We know our industry leaders have leverage: in October, they persuaded Trump to call off a planned ICE surge in San Francisco, and big tech CEOs are in the White House tonight. Now they need to go further, and join us in demanding ICE out of all of our cities." 811: 508 names; 19 one name with title, 284 role onlyReid Hoffman says business leaders are wrong to stay silent about the Trump administrationThe LinkedIn cofounder and tech investor said in an episode of the "Rapid Response" podcast published Tuesday that he rejects the idea that executives can simply wait out political turbulence: "The theory that if you just keep your mouth shut, the storm will blow over and it won't be a problem — you should be disabused of that theory now," Hoffman said.Palantir Defends Work With ICE to Staff Following Killing of Alex Pretti: Leadership defended its work as in part improving “ICE's operational effectiveness.”

It was a surprise to many when The New York Times reported that Renee Good suffered four gunshot wounds at the hands of ICE officer Jonathan Ross. Glenn does a deep dive tutorial on how gunshot wounds to a victim, as well as the trajectory of wound paths through the victim's body, often can be confusing and seem inconsistent with other evidence in a case. Additionally, he explains how a victim's body can have more bullet entry wounds than the number of shots fired. He also discusses the topic of autopsies and autopsy reports, the findings of medical examiners/forensic pathologists regarding cause and manner of death rulings, and the importance of a medical examiner's testimony in a murder trial, all from the perspective and experience of a career homicide prosecutor. David Waldman counts the years of this administration and… wait for it… we are beginning... year… Two! Donald K. Trump is a sick puppy. Barack Obama's Nobel prize wouldn't cure him. Obama's inauguration cake couldn't cure him. Nothing that Barack has would make Trump better, really. Every single person everywhere knows exactly what Jonathan Ross did to Renee Good, and why. So, of course, top dollar is being spent to alter those memories. Mom-and-son grifters Nick and Brooke Shirley have surely hit the bigtime. Meanwhile, it's been a bear market for truth, with another wave of resignations from the US Attorney's Office in Minnesota expected. Trump's "roving patrols" are closing in on Americans. Then there's Europe's Minnesota, Greenland. Minnesota and Greenland are exactly the same thing to Donald K. Trump and Vladimir Putin, who are exactly the same thing. Republicans are equally liable to oppose either. Vlad's got an invite to the new Diet United Nations, the BOP, along with anyone else with a GDP in their wallet. President Emmanuel Macron learned never to text capricious tween Trump, who put Macron's text on blast to all the cool kids, and put a 200% tariff on his wines and champagnes… are snails and frog legs next? Back in DC, Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer utmost priority remains to advance President Trump's agenda by belittling and bullying staffers, funding extramarital affairs, committing fraud where possible and dropping her crew off at Mar-a-Lago West, aka Angels PDX.

On January 7th, Renee Nicole Good, a 37 year old prize winning poet and mother of three was murdered in Minneapolis by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer Jonathan Ross. Sarah Jaffe has reported extensively on protests and organising in Minnesota and in today's episode we spoke about the political background to the current situation in the twin cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. We talked about the central role of the Somali community in resistance and union organising (and how this has drawn the ire of Donald Trump). And we talked about longer recent history of protest in the region that includes the state's central role in the Black Lives Matter movement. We also spoke about the entwinement of the tech industry, the surveillance state, and the border regime, and how protesters in some US cities have sought to target tech company assets that are believed to be aiding ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross fatally shot Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, in Minneapolis last week, unleashing a wave of anti-ICE protests and sentiment throughout Minnesota and the rest of the United States. On Wednesday evening, federal immigration agents shot and wounded a man in Minneapolis, adding to the tension in the Twin Cities. President Donald Trump threatened to send in troops to crush the unrest.“What should be very clear to all Americans now is that there is no way to wage war on ‘illegal immigration' without also waging war on American citizens,” says Adam Serwer, staff writer at The Atlantic. This week on The Intercept Briefing, host Jessica Washington examines how the Trump administration's brutal deportation agenda is unfolding in Minnesota, sparking national backlash and renewed demands to abolish ICE; the historical legacy of immigration enforcement in the U.S.; and the administration's racist vision of reshaping American society. First, Minnesota Public Radio reporter Jon Collins shares an update on the Trump administration's siege. “The national audience needs to understand this is not just unrest, this is not just protests. … This is an invasion,” says Collins. “The justification from this administration, the way that they're portraying what's happening here in Minnesota — it almost turns on its head how we think about our constitutional rights in this country. Instead of protecting the citizens from the government, what they're arguing for is protecting law enforcement from any transparency, from any accountability to the people.”“The biggest organization of terror in this moment is the Department of Homeland Security,” says Rep. Delia Ramirez, who shared exclusively with The Intercept that she is introducing legislation to limit the use of force by DHS agents. The Illinois congresswoman described the bill as the “bare minimum” to curb DHS's abuses, calling for Democrats to use the appropriations process to “hold” funding to the agency and ultimately dismantle it. “Every single Democrat and every single Republican should be able to sign on to this bill,” says Ramirez. “Because it's basic, bare minimum, and not signing on is indicating that you're OK with what's happening on the streets.” “What we're seeing today has a long history,” says Adam Goodman, a historian at the University of Illinois Chicago. Federal immigration agencies' budgets depend “on apprehensions, detentions, and deportations.” That “institutional imperative,” he says, “is going to lead to all kinds of problems, including incredible discretionary authority … and tremendous abuses.”Serwer points out “the violence that you're seeing that federal agents are engaging in against observers, against activists, not just against immigrants, is a reflection of [an] ideological worldview. Which is that those of us who do not agree with Donald Trump are not real Americans and are not entitled to the rights that are due us in the Constitution, whether or not we have citizenship.” He adds, “The truth is, a democracy cannot exist when it has an armed uniformed federal agency who believes that its job is to brutalize 50 percent of the country.” Listen to the full conversation of The Intercept Briefing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen. Patriots, gear up for the breakdown—@intheMatrixxx and @shadygrooove unleash on **Season 8, Episode 010: "Renee Good the New George Floyd?; Premium Part 2: Follow the Bloodlines"**, starting Hour One with a hard look at the January 7, 2026, fatal shooting of 37-year-old U.S. citizen Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in south Minneapolis. They question the rapid narrative spin framing it as another George Floyd moment—highlighting conflicting accounts: federal self-defense claims after Good's vehicle allegedly threatened agents versus eyewitness videos, bodycam audio of her saying "It's all good, dude, I'm not mad at you" before the incident, and local outrage sparking protests, whistles for alerts, and calls for oversight amid broader ICE operations targeting criminal illegal immigrants (backed by DHS data on arrests). They call out protester interference with warrants, play clips showing coordinated messaging like "one falls, another rises," and expose "black pill" networks pushing consistent anti-Trump talking points on Israel and more, plus hypocrisy via old Obama clips refusing deportation freezes. They spotlight media manipulation where critics echo identical language to mislead the public. Hour Two kicks off with the timely Rumble Wallet rollout—empowering financial independence through a non-custodial crypto wallet integrated into Rumble, letting users buy and hold Tether (USDT), Tether Gold (XAUt), and Bitcoin, plus instant, direct tipping to creators without bank, government, or tech interference for true creator and audience control. This week, Scott sat down with his Lawfare colleagues Tyler McBrien, Michael Feinberg, and Ariane Tabatabai to talk through the week's big news in national security, including:“Between Iraq and a Hard Place.” Iran is engaged in perhaps its most serious bout of domestic unrest in a decade, spurred on by a failing economy and the seeming political weakness of the regime after its devastating military conflict with Israel and the United States this past summer. But the regime has struck back viciously, cutting off global media and communications access even as it has engaged in a vicious and violent campaign of repression that may have already led to as many as between 2,000 and 12,000 fatalities. That has led, among other things, to threats from the Trump administration that it may intervene militarily against the regime. What should we be making of this development? What does it mean for the future of Iran, and what role might the United States play in that future?“A Slippery Slope.” ICE's increasingly provocative immigration enforcement actions came to a violent head last week in Minneapolis, when ICE agent Jonathan Ross shot and killed driver and possible protest participant Renee Good. While the White House has sought to frame Good as a “domestic terrorist” who threatened Ross, videos of the incident instead suggest that her conduct came nowhere close to the standard normally required for the use of lethal force. The FBI is now reportedly investigating Good's widow for ties to activist groups, an effort that led several career federal prosecutors to quit this week. How effective are the administration's attempts to shape the truth likely to prove? “Green with Envy.” Diplomatic representatives from Denmark and Greenland are meeting with senior administration officials as we record to discuss a way forward on Greenland, the self-governing and all-but-independent Danish territory that President Trump has openly coveted since returning to office, up to and including the threat of military force to acquire it. How serious should the world take these threats? Where is the competition over Greenland likely to lead?In object lessons, Tyler is setting the mood with a recommendation of Way Dynamic's album “Massive Shoe.” Mike is boosting our moods with a preview of “One Movie After Another,” a retrospective of Paul Thomas Anderson films, coming soon to the AFI Silver Theatre in Silver Spring. Scott is setting some mood lighting with his Xenomorph-like bedtime reading light from Glocusent. SEASON 4 EPISODE 50: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: The newest crimes this week mean he's now committed 32 of the 40 "sins" Thomas Jefferson accused King George III of in The Declaration of Independence: He's telling those protesting the dead on the streets of Iran that he'll defend them while telling those protesting the dead on the streets of Minneapolis that his 'government' was right to kill them. He's raided the home of a journalist, trampling the 1st Amendment He's threatened taxation without representation over sanctuary cities He's unilaterally cut off visas from 75 countries (including thirteen countries headed here in June for soccer's World Cup) Trump has now lost any remaining moral authority to continue as president of this country. We must peacefully counteract his increasingly repressive and immoral and violent actions and threats and what looks like only two options regarding the midterms and 2028: he wants to either fix the elections for Trumpists or eliminate them outright. Object? He’ll buy you or blackmail you or hire somebody to KILL you. I mean, what are ICE agents if not private paramilitary gangsters, hired by Trump, to kill you? On what Trump promises is “the day of reckoning and retribution” against Minnesota. What do we do next? B-Block (30:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Bill Maher bristles at a joke (well, when was the last time he actually made, or heard, a joke?) There's another new idiot Congresswoman who wants Tim Walz arrested over the murder of Renee Good. And the Fox News writer who believes we are under attack by gangs of ANTIFA WINE MOMS. C-Block (41:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: The "Ford Finger" incident with Trump reminded me of the day the right wing tried to bury Tom Hanks over what they thought was disrespect to staffers at a movie event.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Last Wednesday a 37-year-old mother of three, Renee Good, was shot and killed in her car by an ICE agent, Jonathan Ross, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A video captured by a bystander of the incident immediately went viral along with footage taken from other angles. Fox News reacted immediately by blaming Democratic lawmakers and the woman herself. The Trump administration also promptly blamed Good and cleared the agent of any wrongdoing despite the lack of an investigation into the incident.According to the government Good purposefully tried to ram Ross with her car. Many experts, from multiple media outlets, concluded that the Trump administration's official explanation of the event doesn't line up with the video evidence. In nearly every case of a fatal shooting by law enforcement state or federal authorities would at least launch some type of investigation into the incident before making any public declarations. In this case an unarmed woman was shot in broad daylight in front of multiple witnesses and the Trump administration called her a domestic terrorist before her body was cold. The federal government has taken steps to prevent officials in Minnesota from conducting their own investigation. The folks at Fox News were more than happy to attack Good's character and repeat the Trump administration's talking points. Jesse Watters even took things further when he predicted a wave of suicidal leftist activists sacrificing their lives to make a political point. No one disputes that after Good was shot three times in a matter of seconds some of the ICE agents fled the scene, including the shooter, and that it took Emergency Medical Services six minutes to administer aid to a U.S. citizen who was killed by the hand of an immigration and customs enforcement agent. After the shots were fired and Good's car drove out of control an agent, some have disputed that it was Ross himself, called the young mother a “f*cking b***h.”Government officials have since reported that Ross suffered internal bleeding from the incident. In the video evidence he walks away seemingly unharmed. He showed no signs of injury. It's not even clear in the video evidence if he was struck by the car.I'm not a criminal forensics expert but The NY Times did do an exhaustive analysis of the first video that was shot by a bystander you can find it here. Greg Dworkin returns from the world-leading source of AI-assisted undressing, somehow fully clothed, but with new polling on the Texas Senate primaries. Support for ICE'S collapsing, as they break laws and crack heads around Minneapolis and elsewhere. ICE'S optics are bad when they are never good... and always evil. Mayor Jacob Frey's forces are outnumbered. Tim Walz wants more witnesses. Todd Blanche wants Walz and Frey in Cecot. Ritchie Torres wants fast self-serve checkout. Gop wannabe Bruce Blakeman wants the opposite of whatever Kathy Hochul wants. All ICE wants are to be big men with big paychecks, and they will come up short on both. It would hurt more if they had to put time and effort into their jobs, which obviously they don't. ICE is leaving victims' cars on the road for people to collect, but also their own cars, and munitions. Hey! The DHS claims that Jonathan Ross is bleeding from his whatever, so there! They aren't the only dummies! The Gop House sent the wrong Obamacare bill to the Senate, because you know they have been so busy lately. And of course, homogenized ass-whole Donald K. Trump would destroy the world if only he could stay awake long enough. Pop-up nuclear reactors should get the apocalypse out of the way soon. Allie dives deep into the fatal Minneapolis shooting during an ICE operation, where Renee Good was killed after allegedly striking Jonathan Ross, an ICE agent, with her vehicle. She contrasts the dominant media narrative as an innocent martyr going against fascist ICE with overlooked facts. Good was a trained anti-ICE agitator blocking enforcement, while the agent had previously been dragged by a car in a prior investigation. Allie exposes the double standard in outrage comparing this to Justine Damond, who was shot by a Somali-American officer in 2017 with minimal reaction, and she highlights how toxic empathy fuels selective empathy, ignoring preventable crimes by illegal immigrants. SEASON 4 EPISODE 49: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (2:30) SPECIAL COMMENT: BREAK the cover-up of the ICE murder of Renee Good: 1) INVESTIGATE regardless -on the state and county levels. 2) INDICT and ARREST the ICE shooter, Jonathan Ross (and the Trump militia members who were with him as accessories). 3) IMPEACH Homeland Security Chief Kristi Noem, Ice Director Todd Lyons (and Border Czar Tom Homan. Representative Angie Craig says now the Noem impeachment will proceed). 4) Iif Noem or any other ICE or DHS official continues to stonewall local investigators seeking justice for the murdered women, indict and arrest them for OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. 5) When the Senate takes up the resolution to fund the government past January 30, all Democrats must refuse to vote yes unless ICE is neutered (and Trump's magic war wand as well). This is a pivotal moment in American history. ICE's reaction to its crimes has been to double down. It is now hiding behind this empty, corrupt demand that we all need to improve the “tone” and when they say “we” they mean “you” and when they say “tone” they mean “any criticism at all.” Tom Homan went on Fox and actually added to this bankrupt bromide, NEW threats. "There will be more bloodshed unless we decrease the hateful rhetoric.” Translation: if you keep criticizing us, we will keep shooting you. The acting ICE chief, Lyons, may be even worse. He is daring Minnesota to enforce its laws. “My message to the sheriff is: try and arrest my folks, let’s see what happens.” What should happen is the sheriff serving warrants to Ross, Noem, Lyons and the rest of their ICE street gang - with the Minnesota National Guard standing behind the sheriff. ALSO: Why are these fascists so obsessed with killing Americans? It may be the guns. Not the access to them: the physical impact on a shooter's brain by firing a weapon, as established by new tests. Plus updates on Trump doubling down on his Epstein Cover-up, Jim Jordan's moronic decision to let Jack Smith testify in public, and some Trump madness we should encourage. He wants to repel from a helicopter like Navy Seals. Yes please! Do it! B-Block (32:00) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: How Will Chamberlain, Laura Loomer, Matt Walsh and the philosopher of MAGA, Catturd, 180'd on action in places like Venezuela once they realized Trump had 540'd. The headline says 'Visas for Only Fans Models' but the article does not. And the only person who thinks Stephen A. Smith is a Democrat or a viable presidential candidate is Stephen A. Smith. Up to now it's been funny and a little sad. But now that he has defended the murder of Renee Good and sucked up to Trump and MAGA, it has to be said: to save the brand that they and a lot of people worked their lives to build, Disney chief Bob Iger and ESPN president Jimmy Pitaro have to fire Smith. Oh and - accordingly - I've re-named Stephen. C-Block (45:00) MONDAYS WITH THURBER: Only fitting. Next month it will have been a startling 95 years since James Thurber prophesied the advent of Trump. What would happen when America finally lionized its Worst? "The Greatest Man In The World."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Today's Headlines: After two weeks of nationwide protests, Iran looks closer than ever to a regime collapse. The government shut down the internet all weekend, blamed the U.S. and Israel, and threatened retaliation — while Trump publicly backed protesters online, which historically only makes things messier. In the U.S., a 160-year-old synagogue in Jackson, Mississippi was set on fire early Saturday. No one was hurt, a suspect is in custody, and the congregation — which survived a KKK bombing in 1967 — says it will rebuild. Trump also sat down with the New York Times and said the only thing restraining him is “my own morality,” claimed owning Greenland is “psychologically needed for success,” and suggested NATO could be optional. Around the same time, references to his impeachments quietly disappeared from his Smithsonian portrait label. In Minneapolis, tensions escalated after video showed ICE officer Jonathan Ross switching hands to draw his gun before killing Renee Good. Instead of de-escalating, DHS announced hundreds more federal agents, ICE plans to hire 10,000 more officers, and JD Vance promised “door-to-door” deportations, as a Washington Post report detailed ICE's push to churn out violent arrest videos for social media. Trump also failed to convince oil companies to reinvest in Venezuela, then declared a national emergency anyway to shield $2.5 billion in Venezuelan oil revenue, calling it a U.S. national security issue. Finally, courts blocked Trump from freezing $10 billion in welfare funds to blue states and from cutting NIH research grants, while December jobs numbers showed modest growth — data Trump leaked early on social media because, apparently, impulse control is optional. Put Him on Trial. Put ICE on Trial. Put Noem on Trial. Uprising in Iran. Trump's Latest Outrageous Weekend Post. Jerome Powell Punches Back. Pour One Out for Kittle.  Independent Americans host Paul Rieckhoff returns for a raw, solo “Manosphere Monday” to break down the most urgent story in America: the killing of Minneapolis activist and mother Renee Good  by ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who was caught on video calling her a “fucking bitch” as he shot her. Paul calls it murder. And explains why Ross, Kristi Noem, and ICE itself must be put on trial, elevating the powerful, hopeful statement from Good's wife, Becca, as a model of courage and what “right” looks like in the face of rising tension in Minneapolis and nationwide.   Zooming out, Paul connects this murder to Trump's larger, calculated plan: a wartime-style ICE expansion targeting veterans with bonuses and lowered standards, an unchecked “forever war 2.0” abroad, and the dismantling of independent media from PBS NewsHour Weekend to targeting the Pentagon Press Corps. He makes the case that ICE has become an unaccountable extension of Trump's military power at home and issues a direct call to veterans, cops, independents, and all conscientious Americans to be the circuit breakers who refuse unlawful orders, expose abuses, and stand up before more Americans are killed and more streets become battlefields. We're eleven days into 2026, and America is speedrunning authoritarianism. On January 8th, ICE agent Jonathan Ross executed Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. She was unarmed and trying to drive away when he shot her three times at point blank range, called her a "fucking bitch" as she died, then walked away while his colleagues prevented a doctor from rendering aid. Within minutes, before anyone knew her name, the President and DHS Secretary labeled her a "domestic terrorist" and declared the shooting justified. No investigation. No accountability. Just character assassination and claims of "absolute immunity."This isn't isolated. Over 2,000 masked federal agents with no badges or identification have descended on Minneapolis, racially profiling and detaining U.S. citizens. The same day Renee was killed, ICE arrested two teenage American citizens for working at Target while Latino. This is fascism in practice. But the chaos doesn't stop at our borders. Trump is threatening to annex Greenland by force, potentially ending the NATO alliance. The administration is simultaneously threatening Venezuela, cutting deals with Cuba, and rattling sabers at Iran as nationwide protests threaten the regime. Are we heading into World War III? Maybe. The tinderbox is built. In this episode, we break down the execution of Renee Nicole Good, expert analysis from a veteran defense attorney who says this shooting was unjustified, Trump's imperial ambitions in Greenland, Iran's revolution, Cuba's crisis, Venezuela's chaos, the criminal investigation into Jerome Powell, and the U Haul attack on Iranian protesters in Los Angeles. This isn't hyperbole. This is happening right now, eleven days into the second Trump administration.Renee Nicole Good's life mattered. Her death wasn't a tragedy. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer who shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Good on Wednesday in Minneapolis is Jonathan Ross, according to court documents and accounts from federal officials.Ross shot into Good's car while she was driving away from the site of an ICE operation near Portland Avenue and East 34th Street. U.S. government officials have labeled Good as a “domestic terrorist” who attempted to strike and kill ICE officers.During Thursday's White House press briefing, Vice President JD Vance said Ross “might have been a little nervous” because of an incident last summer in which he was dragged by a vehicle and needed upwards of 30 stitches.Vance's description of Ross' injuries matches with an encounter that took place in Bloomington on June 17.Court documents detail the injuries an ICE agent suffered in the course of attempting to stop Roberto Carlos Muñoz-Guatemala, who prosecutors say was in the country without legal immigration status and had a previous conviction of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. An exhibit list describes photos of the injuries as belonging to “Officer Ross.” A jury trial notice lists “Jonathan Ross” as the federal government's first witness who testified in that trial.During the stop, Ross ordered Muñoz-Guatemala to get out of the car or he would break the window, a criminal complaint states. When Muñoz-Guatemala didn't comply, Ross broke the rear driver's side window and attempted to reach in and unlock the front driver's side door. Muñoz-Guatemala put the car in drive while Ross' arm was in the broken window, and he was dragged “approximately 100 yards” down the street.According to court documents, one cut to Ross' right arm required 20 stitches; he received 13 more stitches for a gash on his left hand; and he suffered scrapes to his knee, elbows and face. A case brief filed five months after the initial indictment stated he needed 50 or more stitches for treatment.Last month, a jury convicted Muñoz-Guatemala of one count of assault on a federal officer with a dangerous and deadly weapon. He has yet to be sentencedOne law enforcement official confirmed to ABC News that Ross has 10 years of experience and is a Minneapolis-based member of ICE's special response team, which is deployed for high-profile and tactical situations.“He's an experienced officer that has served a number of years, and we recognize he acted according to his training, and we expect that all of the policies and procedures of review will be exactly that he acted appropriately to protect his life and the life of his colleagues and fellow law enforcement officers that were there,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said of Ross during a news conference held Thursday morning in New York.Noem and DHS officials say the officer was taken to the hospital because he was hit by Good's vehicle. However, bystander video of the shooting does not appear to show any serious contact, and the shooter was up and walking the entire time.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
