Eating crickets and meat grown in a lab with cancer-like cells - WHO APPROVED THAT?! Scott Tips, president of the National Health Federation (NHF) and internationally recognized health freedom attorney, joins host, Jamie Belz, to help us understand the deeper mechanisms of Codex Alimentarius, the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the global regulatory web that threatens access to nutrient-dense food, natural health remedies, and therapeutic supplements.   As the only health-freedom organization with official INGO (International Non-Governmental Organization) status at Codex, NHF is uniquely positioned to stand up for the public's right to safe, informed, and autonomous healthcare choices on the global stage.   Over the last 70 years, NHF has defended medical choice and challenged the federal government's overreach into nutrition, supplementation, and holistic healing.   Some quick topics/snippets from this episode: Codex creates international food law—affecting everything from vitamin dosage limits to whether or not your meat contains drug residues. Most people don't even know Codex exists. And yet, decisions made there determine what shows up in your grocery cart, your supplement bottle, and your child's plate. The U.S. can now force genetically modified foods into countries that don't want them — not through diplomacy, but through international tribunals using Codex standards as their weapon. Ractopamine is a drug with zero therapeutic value. It makes animals fatter, faster — but it's banned in the EU, China, and Russia. In the U.S., you're probably eating it. When you hear ‘scientific consensus,' be cautious. The phrase is used to bulldoze public concern. You can be banned for calling out corruption at Codex. At CODEX, NHF is the only one defending your right to natural health freedom. The EU, Russia, even Iran — they've stood up for consumer safety at Codex more than the U.S. delegates have. The scary thing isn't just what the FDA is doing. It's how many people still trust them, blindly — even when their actions have harmed more people than every U.S. war combined. We need advocacy from the ground up. Most parents feeding their kids toxic food don't even know it — because the truth has been buried. “Frankenmeat”, insect protein, and natural flavoring cover-ups, all of which bypass transparent labeling laws while being quietly introduced into the food supply. They're trying to outlaw homeopathy—while promoting lab-grown meat and insect protein as sustainable alternatives. We don't want to be right. We want to get it right.   “Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will come when medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship… To restrict the art of healing to one class of men and deny equal privileges to others will constitute the Bastille of medical science. All such laws are un-American and despotic.” - Dr. Benjamin Rush, Declaration of Independence signator and Surgeon General of the Continental Army   "If people let the government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as the souls of those who live under tyranny.” - Thomas Jefferson   TAKE ACTION:  Join the National Health Federation for only $45/year to support international advocacy at Codex and receive the quarterly NHF magazine. This low-cost membership helps fund independent watchdog efforts that no other organization is legally authorized to perform at the global level. JOIN HERE   Other mentions: Ep 034: Fight For Your Right To Health Freedom The HighWire report exposing Peter Marks and vaccine data suppression    Health freedom is necessary. As government and corporate interests grow more entangled, grassroots advocacy is no longer optional. It's essential. Join the NHF and become part of the movement to reclaim sovereignty over what we eat, how we heal, and what we're allowed to know.

In this powerful one-off episode, fresh off the NHF Conference, Jamie Belz and Mike Belz unpack the most eye-opening moments, shocking revelations, and inspiring calls to action from a weekend spent with an incredible organization passionately fighting for our health freedoms since 1955.   From Codex Alimentarius to FDA overreach, and the shocking story of NHF's founding to HEALTH FREEDOM quotes from Benjamin Rush and Thomas Jefferson, this conversation dives deep into the fight for medical sovereignty, transparency, and the right to choose your own path to wellness.   In this episode: The history and mission of the NHF How the FDA and other agencies are restricting natural health practices Why bio-individuality must be protected "If I find something that works well for me in my personal health journey - and I'm not harming anyone else - who should be allowed to tell me I cannot choose that methodology?" CLICK HERE! Transcription: It's time to escape the health monopoly and end the government's stranglehold on wellness. I'm your host, Jamie Belz - - - and THIS is the Nutritional Therapy and Wellness Podcast. Today's episode is a rallying cry—a call to action to break the chains holding back holistic wellness practitioners and, most importantly, to give YOU the freedom to choose your bio-individual path to optimal wellness.  The Nutritional Therapy Association is on a mission to reverse the trend of preventable poor health. Right now, we're living in a nation plagued by chronic illness, obesity, and skyrocketing healthcare costs. Meanwhile, millions of people are searching for solutions—but instead of finding freedom, they're stuck navigating a failing system that prioritizes government-controlled insurance dollars, surgeries, and pharmaceuticals over personalized care pathways that promote sustainable change and truly transformative healthful outcomes. It's an absurd contradiction we face. We're mandated to pay sky-high insurance premiums and hefty deductibles to maintain a safety net for catastrophic health issues—which most of us - THANKFULLY - never need. - - - That money - ((thousands and thousands of dollars for my family each year)) - is just gone. It's a carnival game we're forced to play, and the insurance companies win every year. Yet, at the same time, we're paying out of pocket for the wellness modalities and practitioners we truly value. These professionals offer personalized, preventive care that keeps us healthy and helps us avoid those catastrophic situations altogether. It's a frustrating system that forces us to invest in reactive care while actively limiting our ability to choose proactive, holistic approaches that align with our values and promote lasting wellness. Here's the kicker: the very professionals who can help—highly trained, deeply passionate practitioners—have been targeted, silenced, and even prosecuted in some states simply for doing what they do best: helping people live healthier lives.  Today, we're breaking this down - - - We desperately need an overhaul of how we do things. What we've been doing - our current "health care" system - IS NOT WORKING. The health of our nation is absolutely unacceptable. - **42% of U.S. adults are obese.**  - **6 in 10 adults** have at least one chronic illness, and **4 in 10 have two or more.**  In the U.S. alone - $400 BILLION dollars are spent on prescriptions each year - - - and we're getting sicker and sicker. We spend $4.1 trillion on healthcare in the U.S. each year - if that $4.1 was making us the healthiest humans have ever been - I'd be all for it!! - - - but 90% of that 4.1 trillion dollars is going toward managing chronic diseases. Here's the hard truth: most of these conditions are preventable. They don't need another prescription—they need a personalized, holistic approach that addresses the root causes of dysfunction. People are desperate for solutions tailored to their unique needs—their bio-individual path to wellness—but they're stuck in a system that's failing them. And that's where Nutritional Therapy Practitioners and holistic practitioners step in to fill the gap.  As Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTPs), we undergo rigorous, science-based training to support individuals on their wellness journey. We specialize in:  Anatomy, physiology, and the body's interconnected systems. Root cause analysis—not just managing symptoms but understanding and addressing the foundational imbalances that cause dysfunction. Empowering people with bio-individual strategies, recognizing that no two bodies are the same. Providing education in nutrition truth. We're not owned by big food or big pharma - we'll tell you the truth about that ingredients lists and help enlighten you about why certain foods - like most of the 10,000 industrially produced chemicals the FDA has approved for human consumption in the United States - should be avoided. We're a threat. What we teach is real, and it can't be patented for profit. We discovered this on our own after being exhausted - or sometimes even injured by - the BIGs - big food, big ag, big pharma - the BIG Money Machine. Most of us found this path because of our own life-changing experiences. Most holistic wellness providers - many NTPs - discovered this work after a personal health breakthrough or helping their child recover from a debilitating condition. We've lived it. We've felt the frustration of a system that didn't have answers - we were told, "you can't, you won't, you'll never," - "when in doubt, cut it out" - "where do you want me to send this prescription?" - - - but we pushed back on the prognosis - and we realized that there is another way! You have to be willing to take off the blinders and look. There are incredible licensed medical professionals who have done exactly that - - - they've come over to this side and have seen, felt, and heard what cannot be unseen, unfelt, or unheard - and we're all passionate about sharing what we've learned. Let's be clear: this isn't about demonizing any one group - and it's not about competition. This is about collaboration and abundance.  The health crisis is far too big for any one group of professionals to handle alone. We need registered dietitians, doctors, NTPs, health coaches, and more—all working together to create a system where everyone has access to the care they need.  When there are no more sick people left to help, THEN we can talk about competition. Until that day comes, we need boots on the ground. We need practitioners working in communities, meeting people where they are, and providing diverse options for care.  We're all allies in this fight. And the more offerings we have, the more likely each person will find their bio-individual path to wellness.  Here's the reality - the big problem - and why I need YOUR help. In some states, Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (NTPs) and other holistic practitioners - including RNs, functional medicine doctors, Chiros, NPs, MDs, DOs, and other licensed professionals, as well as alternative practice practitioners - are facing absurd restrictions and fear-driven enforcement. These are highly trained professionals offering alternative and innovative approaches to health, yet anyone challenging the status quo or “the machine” is met with unnecessary roadblocks, intimidation, and legal threats - fear of financial repercussions - the swipe of a pen can pull someone's license - their entire career gone if they don't get in line and play the conformity game. It's a system that stifles solutions and prevents people from accessing the personalized care they need and deserve. We have an NTP in Minnesota who was working alongside a naturopathic doctor, providing nutrition education to a mere five or six clients. She was given a cease and desist from the Minnesota Board of Dietetics because someone called in an anonymous phone call complaint, which was apparently enough to launch a taxpayer-funded investigation - - - and I am telling you - they had nothing - she did NOTHING wrong. Nothing even close to wrong - - - but because of an anonymous phone call and the current laws - she was immediately shut down and forced to spend her precious time and her family's money to fight back - - - ultimately conceding. Think about how absurd that is. We're trained, we're educated, and we're passionate—but the law ties our hands while the public suffers.  This isn't just frustrating—it's wrong. It limits your choices, perpetuates the health crisis, and prevents qualified practitioners from helping people who desperately need it.      The MAHA movement has ruffled some feathers - but I don't understand that - because EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. should want to see Americans - all people - everywhere - get healthy again.  This is a Non-Partisan Issue. This fight for health freedom isn't about a specific politician —it's about people, plain and simple. And let's be clear: this isn't about saying that licensed professionals or hospitals are bad. Dietitians, doctors, and hospitals are absolutely essential, and many people rely on them for life-saving care. But this is about freedom—the freedom for every individual to choose the approach and the professional that resonates with their values, aligns with their goals, and helps them meet them. Whether you prioritize personal liberty, innovative healthcare solutions, or reducing the overwhelming strain on our medical system, this issue affects us all. Chronic illness doesn't discriminate by political affiliation, and neither should the solutions. This is bigger than party lines; it's about breaking down barriers and creating a system where everyone can access the tools, resources, and guidance they need to achieve optimal wellness. By lifting these restrictions, we're not undermining traditional healthcare - we're expanding the choices available to empower people to take control of their own health. Every ethical provider should be able to get behind that. This is about escaping the health monopoly that drove us to the health crisis we're in. This is about ending the government's stranglehold and unlocking bio-individual pathways to wellness. Here's where YOU come in. This isn't just about practitioners - it's about YOU and your right to access care that works for your bio-individual needs.  I'm asking you to take action. Click THIS LINK and sign the petition to lift the legal restraints on holistic and functional health practitioners. By signing this petition - you're supporting empowered health - a system that champions true preventative care, like nourishing the body with nutrient-dense, whole foods! - and focuses on addressing root causes rather than masking symptoms with bandaid solutions that trap patients in a cycle of lifelong dependency and side-effect management - - - another pill - another surgery - - - - spoiler alert - that vicious cycle never stops. No one on a list of prescriptions is ever as happy as those in the pharmaceutical commercials portray. By signing this petition - you're supporting a more healthful future for generations to come - one where practitioners can work without fear, everyone has access to the kind of health care they desire and deserve, and they're aware of their options so they can actually find what works for them! Signing this petition means you support a future of true autonomy - where our hard-earned money isn't being held in the purse of the insurance companies, and like children, we have to beg them for our fractional allowances, which the government ultimately dictates. You're signing to support the freedom of choice - the right to seek care that aligns with your unique, bio-individual needs and preferences - to spend your wellness money where you want to spend it. With all the training I've received in anatomy, physiology, and the science of how the foods we eat literally are the building blocks of our bodies—the intricate interplay of nutrients to fuel every function- and the miraculous healing capabilities of a nutrient-sufficient body—I've dedicated over a decade to mastering this knowledge. And yet, despite all of that, I'm not legally allowed in some states to create a simple meal plan for your family for next week. Let that sink in.     Then sign that petition, yeah? After you sign, don't stop there. Share the petition with your family, friends, and community. Send this podcast to everyone you know. Post it on social media. Talk about it. Don't say you'll do it later - let's go!! Thank you for gifting your precious time to hear what I had to say and for being part of this movement. The time for change is now. Supreme Court Opinions

Play Episode Listen Later Nov 1, 2024 59:50

Welcome to Supreme Court Opinions. In this episode, you'll hear the Court's opinion in Campos-Chaves v Garland.      In this case, the court considered this issue: Does the government provide adequate notice under 8 U-S-C § 1229(a) when it serves an initial notice document that does not include the “time and place” of proceedings followed by an additional document containing that information? The case was decided on June 14, 2024. The Supreme Court held that because each of the noncitizens in this case received a proper notice for the removal hearings they missed and at which they were ordered removed from the United States, they cannot seek rescission of their in absentia removal orders on the basis of defective notice under §1229a(b)(5)(C)(ii). Justice Samuel Alito authored the 5-4 majority opinion of the Court. The phrase “notice in accordance with paragraph (1) or (2)” in §1229a(b)(5)(C)(ii) means that either a paragraph (1) notice to appear (NTA) or a paragraph (2) notice of hearing can suffice to defeat rescission. The word “or” is typically disjunctive, and the statutory context supports this reading. The notice that “matters” for purposes of rescission is the one that informed the noncitizen of the time and date of the missed hearing at which they were ordered removed. This aligns with §1229a(b)(5)(A), which ties “the written notice” to the specific missed proceeding. A paragraph (2) notice can stand alone and provide valid notice, even if the initial NTA was deficient. The terms “change” and “new” in paragraph (2) do not require a prior compliant NTA.  Here, the noncitizens received proper paragraph (2) notices for the hearings they missed, even though their initial NTAs lacked time and place information. Therefore, they cannot seek rescission based on defective notice. While the government must still provide an NTA, noncitizens who receive only a paragraph (2) notice must attend the hearing or face removal in absentia. They can raise issues about incomplete notice at that time. Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson authored a dissenting opinion, in which Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Neil Gorsuch joined. Justice Jackson argued that the majority's interpretation misreads the plain text of the statute and ignores the indispensable role of a compliant notice to appear (NTA) under §1229(a)(1). She contends that a paragraph (2) notice cannot stand alone and presupposes a valid NTA, as evidenced by the statute's structure, language, and context. This reading aligns with the Court's previous statements in Pereira and Niz-Chavez, and the majority's different interpretation disrupts Congress's carefully crafted removal scheme, which balances efficiency with fairness and procedural integrity. The opinion is presented here in its entirety, but with citations omitted. If you appreciate this episode, please subscribe. Taxi drivers to save up to €5,400 when switching to electric through new FREENOW partnership with Tesla

FREENOW has announced an exclusive incentive with Tesla, offering all FREENOW driver partners up to €5,400 off the list price of a Tesla vehicle. When combined with the eSPSV grant scheme, this can reduce the cost of switching to a new electric taxi by up to €26,590. The appetite for the switch to electric is clear for drivers and passengers alike, with FREENOW welcoming, on average 13 battery Electric Vehicles (EVs) to its fleet weekly. In the first half of 2024, 14% of all FREENOW trips taken were via EVs, with the EV driver fleet growing by almost 11% in this period. In addition, nearly half (44%) of all FREENOW vehicles in Dublin last year were electric and hybrid. This partnership supports the National Transport Authority's (NTA) recently launched Sustainability Strategy, which outlines its commitment to implementing and promoting sustainability practices nationally across the transport sector. As part of the new Strategy, the NTA is aiming for 40% of all taxis in Ireland to be sustainable by 2030. Danny O'Gorman, newly appointed General Manager at FREENOW Ireland, said: "We're excited to announce this new partnership with Tesla, which offers an exclusive incentive that makes driving an EV even more affordable for our driver partners. At FREENOW, we continue to take a considerate and comprehensive approach to sustainability. The National Transport Authority has also set ambitious sustainability goals, which we are committed to supporting as Ireland's No. 1 taxi app. "Every part of the transport ecosystem has a role to play in reducing emissions, and we see the switch to electric taxi fleets as a huge opportunity for rapid, meaningful change. Our partnership with Tesla is another key step in helping our drivers make this important transition." Melanie Naughton, Country Lead at Tesla Ireland, commented: "Creating this opportunity for FREENOW taxi drivers is a significant step in actioning our mission here in Ireland. In two weeks, we have received over 450 requests from drivers across the country, showing a real demand for affordable, high-performance EVs. We look forward to introducing more drivers to our vehicles and further contributing to Ireland's transition to sustainable energy." The offer is available to FREENOW drivers for both the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, two of the best-selling vehicles in Europe in either long-range or rear wheel drive variants. In 2023, the Model Y was the best-selling vehicle in the world. Both vehicles have gained popularity due to their efficient interior spaces, 5-star NCCAP safety ratings and affordable charging rates. Tesla's Supercharger network lets drivers charge their cars quickly, adding up to 241 km of range in just 15 minutes. According to the National Transport Authority, the average taxi driver in Ireland covers 32,600km per year whilst in service. In a petrol vehicle, this would cost approximately €4,500 per year; however, with a Tesla Model Y, the estimated cost drops to just €2,700. In Model 3, the estimated cost goes down to €2,100 per year, and this could decrease further through charging at home with an overnight EV tariff.

Lack Of Wheelchair Accessible Bus Stop Between Ennis And Cliffs Of Moher Slammed As "Unacceptable"

Clare FM - Podcasts

The lack of a wheelchair accessible bus stop between Ennis and the Cliffs of Moher has been slammed as 'unacceptable' by the Clare Leader Forum. It comes as the disability rights group taken the decision not to participate in the annual 'Make Way Day' and has called for meaningful change to public infrastructure and service accessibility instead. The sound of Bus Eireann's 350 Ennis to Galway route pulling in to collect passengers at Ennistymon before it continues its onward journey to Lahinch, Liscannor and then the Cliffs of Moher. The bus stop is located between Pot Duggan's and Unglert's Bakery on New Road, which is just 200m away from the Church Hill Housing Estate, but despite this, not all residents can avail of the local service. Although a designated wheelchair space is available on board, the bus stop itself does not have the 3m footpath width required by NTA standards, meaning wheelchair users cannot board in Ennistymon. Local resident, Trish McNamara who works in the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 14 years ago and the nearest accessible bus stops to her are 26km away in Ennis or 79km away in Oranmore. When Trish has found herself unable or unfit to drive, she's faced taxi fares of up to €60 on a daily basis, or has otherwise depended on taking lifts in her own specially adapted vehicle. She says the lack of basic universal infrastructure is disgraceful. Among the aims of the National Transport Authority's public transport accessibility programme, is to provide at least one accessible bus stop in each direction in a town with a population greater than 5,000. The most recent Census, meanwhile, shows the population of Ennistymon is just 1,137. Usually this time of year, would be the period of 'Make Way Day', a campaign often endorsed by local authorities to highlight the effects of parking, dog fouling and obstructions on footpaths to those with reduced mobility. The Clare Leader Forum has refused to partake this year though, stating the event has become an optics exercise, while issues such as access to beaches, damaged ramps and substandard infrastructure remain. Ennistymon-based Spokesperson and Co-Founder of Equality Not Care, Anne-Marie Flanagan says policymakers must urgently incorporate universal design in all private and public spaces to level the playing field. Bus Eireann Statement Bus Éireann is committed to the provision of a fully accessible public transport system incorporating wheelchair accessible vehicles and infrastructure and in providing a safe and comfortable travel experience for all our customers. Bus Éireann continues to work with the National Transport Authority (NTA) and local authorities on the enhancement of bus station and bus stop infrastructure. To facilitate this, Bus Éireann has also introduced a Travel Information Team, who assess bus stops along our routes and around the country, and initiate accessibility and information improvements where possible. While we are doing all we can to make improvements as soon as possible, there can be limitations to this; due to the location constraints such as topography or other issues and we liaise with the NTA and local authorities on this matter. We have been in touch with our Travel Information team who will be assessing the stops highlighted, as well as surveying the whole route. The results of this audit will determine whether the stops are accessible as they are, or if they need improvements, in which case the Travel Information Team will liaise directly with the NTA and local authorities to facilitate the improvements as soon as possible.

Iarnród Eireann has unveiled its proposals to increase frequency and introduce an hourly service on the Ennis to Limerick rail line. At a special presentation before Ennis Chamber today, the company also provided significant updates on the Shannon Airport Rail Spur, the Ballycar Flood Defence Scheme and the reopening of the Crusheen Rail Stop. Iarnród Eireann used the meeting to deliver their plan for implementing the recommendations of the strategic All-Island Rail Review over the next 26 years. Among the aims of the programme is a rail link to Shannon Airport and reducing all intercity journey times to below 2 hours. Iarnród Eireann is hoping to connect Clare's International Airport to the rail network via a spur at either Cratloe or Sixmilebridge. Within the next 3 years, the company is aiming to gain stage 1 project approval, concecpt feasibility, costing and a preliminary design. Ennis Chamber CEO Margaret O'Brien insists timely delivery of the project will be crucial to the region's economic and tourism growth and says it's vital all stakeholders row in behind the plans. The Clare based CEO of Iarnród Eireann has set a goal of creating an inflection point in Irish society, where public transport overtakes the car as the first port of call for getting from A to B. Locally, the company is planning to provide an hourly service from Ennis to Limerick and reducing the travel time on the route to twenty minutes. This will be done by doubling the existing track infrastructure at Limerick Junction and introducing a looped track at Sixmilebridge, which will enable two trains to travel on the line simultaneously. The company is expecting the cost of the flooding solution at Ballycar, near Newmarket-On-Fergus to exceed €16m and is completing a new costing while it awaits funding approval from the National Transport Authority. If approved, Iarnród Eireann boss, Jim Meade believes the legacy flooding issues on the Ennis-Limerick line can be eliminated in the next two to three years. The Cooraclare native, who joined the company as an apprentice back in 1979, says providing top quality infrastructure in the MidWest is of paramount importance. Next year, Iarnród Eireann will aim to introduce the world's first ever Hydrogen powered locomotive and will begin the process of electrifying the rail network as part of a decarbonisation plan. The public transport provider is open to extending the rail network too and has confirmed its intention to progress with the reopening of the Crusheen Rail Stop, subject to funding approval by the NTA and Department of Transport. During the briefing, Green Party Deputy Leader Roisín Garvey confirmed Transport Minister Eamon Ryan would meet with a delegation from Crusheen to discuss the proposal, which is estimated to cost €4.5m. Nollaig Barry from the Inchicronan Development Group believes the reopening of Crusheen is a no-brainer.

In our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown between the 19th and the 23rd August 2024 (Episodes #11,341 - 11,346). How brilliant was Monday's episode, eh? I don't think any of us were expecting Dee-Dee to work out the truth about Joel this long before the wedding date, but it looks like the slimy solicitor has still got a few tricks up his sleeve to evade capture... All exciting stuff, but did the follow-up to the big reveal get a bit TOO police-heavy? And speaking of all things legal, Beth's counterfeit capers get her in Kirk's bad books this week, whilst Alina discovers that if you stand up to your nail bar traffickers in court, you might just be getting a knock on the door from Heavy For Hire... Also this week, Toyah's pleased to hear that her her medical issues are all ova, but surely it's only a matter of time before her nookie with Nick comes to light... Up next on the podcast, we find out Corrie which stars up for an NTA this year and check out a few new tour options at the Coronation Street Experience, then we round things off with some more of your feedback. POOP (ewww) What goes in, must come out!   In this episode of the Nutritional Therapy and Wellness Podcast, host Jamie Belz, FNTP, MHC, and fellow FNTP, Stephanie Ewals, CNS, Licensed Nutritionist, owner of Out of the Woods Nutrition, and host of the Help For Hashimotos podcast talk about the end product of digestion - poop. Talking about pooping is a total taboo, but it's an important topic.   The prevalence of GI disorders such as diarrhea, constipation, and alternating diarrhea and constipation is extremely common, with 3-5% of the U.S. population experiencing chronic diarrhea. Globally, 16% of adults experience chronic constipation - up to 19% of adults in the U.S. and a whopping 33% of adults over the age of 60 experience chronic constipation.   Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) with Alternating Diarrhea and Constipation, characterized by symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and variability in bowel habits, affect 10-15% of the global population. Among those with IBS, a significant portion (around 25-30%) experiences alternating diarrhea and constipation (IBS-M, mixed type). *Mehta, S. On our latest edition of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Corrie between the 20th and the 24th May 2024 (Episodes #11,270 - 11,275). Those returning villains just keep on coming, with both Dean and Griff making a reappearance this week, and Corey, though admittedly not on screen, being a big focus of Monday's episode. Were any of them behind Lauren's murder? Is Lauren actually even dead? Like most viewers, we definitely have our doubts, but we guess it won't be too long until we find out now... It's been a tough old week for Abi too - not only does she discover a documentary has been made about Seb's 'rising star' killer, but then she finds out a sex tape is doing the rounds online that seems to contain footage of her! Meanwhile, Bernie tries in vain to convince Kit to be part of the family, Bethany makes a surprise new BFF and Simon prepares to head out to sea with his dad - but will Leanne be back from the retreat in time before he ups anchor and sets sail? Not a whole lot of Corrie related news this week, but we do at least get the NTA nominations to chat about in The Kabin, and we finish things off with more of your feedback, including some great suggestions for Corrie/Simpsons crossover characters following this week's Listener Questions episode! It's Casual Friday! Sam and Emma speak with Jeet Heer, national affairs correspondent for The Nation, to round up the week in news.  First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the US public's opposition to Israel's genocide in Gaza, Medicare drug price negotiations, the Child Tax Credit, a US immigration deal, GOP fundraising, Eric Adams' fundraisers, and the NTA strike, before diving into the absurd coverage of Cori Bush's ongoing ethics investigation. Jeet Heer then joins, diving right into the complete failure of the US' supposed attempt to prevent Israel's genocide in Gaza from becoming a regional conflict, first discussing Jake Sullivan's pre-October 7th claims touting the Biden Administration's peace in the region, before touching on Biden's supposed “behind the scenes” talks with Israel, and the role they play in keeping his Democratic colleagues at bay. Next, they look at Biden's ongoing attempt to normalize Israel-Saudi Arabia relations, despite that being a primary factor in Hamas' 10/7 attacks, whether his refusal to return to the Iran Nuclear Deal plays into his belief in Trump's Abraham Accords, and how the hell this conflict can be seen as any sort of a win for his reelection campaign. Wrapping up, Heer dives into his premonitory coverage of the right-wing's obsession with Taylor Swift. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch House GOP's members explain why they're voting for the Mayorkas impeachment, a Texas convoy member explains how Jews are paying Hezbollah to invade the US even though they're going to attack Synagogues, and Matt from Alberta discusses the chaos of Alberta's politics under the conservative premiership of Danielle Smith. Eddie from Fort Worth dives into the story of Stetson Kennedy, Jordan Peterson and Ben Shapiro explain why becoming uber-wealthy is pious, actually, and Marjorie Taylor Greene tries to censure Ilhan Omar because of – get this – racism, plus, your calls and IMs! It's Hump Day! Sam and Emma speak with KJ Boyle, research assistant with The Revolving Door Project, to discuss his recent piece in The New Republic entitled "Donald Trump Is No Friend to the Working Class." Then, they speak with Prem Thakker, politics reporter at The Intercept, to discuss his recent reporting on the use of chemical weapons on pro-Palestine demonstrators at Columbia University. And THEN, they are joined by David Bedar, history teacher and member of the Newton Teacher's Association (NTA), to discuss the teacher's union ongoing strike efforts. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Donald Trump's New Hampshire win, US strikes on Yemen and Iraq, fracturing among the House and Senate GOP, mass layoffs, Sweden's NATO pitch, Ukraine's defensive, and US abortion travel bans, before parsing through Nikki Haley's response to her concrete loss in New Hampshire and Donald Trump's response to her. KJ Boyle then joins, diving right into his assessment of the incredible flourishing of the US labor movement under President Biden – particularly coming out of Donald Trump's administration – despite some pushback. Boyle tackles Donald Trump's very typical GOP approach to the labor wing of his administration, appointing CEOs and union-busting lawyers to the DOL and NLRB, before stepping back to assess Biden's appointments in Jennifer Abruzzo at the NLRB, and Julie Su as Secretary of Labor, and their importance in pushing us towards a return to the Joy Silk doctrine, and a re-establishment of US labor rights. Prem Thakker, next, walks Sam and Emma through Columbia University's long history of student activism and divestment campaigns, beyond and including Israel, before running through a briefer summary of the recent developments on Columbia's campus in the wake of October 7th, which have seen the disbanding of multiple pro-Palestinian student organizations and the rampant discrimination and harassment of Palestinian students and allies. Thakker wraps up with the recent attack on a Colombia protest by alleged Zionist students, and Colombia's refusal to address the incident without extreme pressure. David Bedar joins from the picket line in Newton, MA, as he walks through the basis for the NTA's strike in the city and the Mayor's complete mismanagement of the education sector, from underfunding and understaffing to poor pay and absurdly poor family policy, before wrapping up the show by walking through the incredibly important role of the Newton community and alumni network in standing with the Teachers' association, and what those of us outside of the community can do to help. And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma discuss Jimmy Dore's new alchemical grift (it's just Silver Hawkery), Donald Trump shouts out Q in the year 2024 (and it works), and Nikki Haley's subdued performance among the best possible electorate for her. Barbara Lee kills her debate response to Adam Schiff over calls for a ceasefire, the MR Crew watches another Israeli dissident speak out against their country's failures and abuses, and Charlie Kirk downgrades his bigotry to purely speculative. Fox calls out the “media training” of the “Vice President” and the super mean statements by “snowflake” AOC, and the MR Crew walks through developments in the Child Tax Credit, plus, your calls and IMs!
