On this week's show an all-star team of super agents join Julia to gab including guest host Amy Nicholson, film critic for the Los Angeles Times. Their first mission: Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, the supposed final installment of the Tom Cruise action juggernaut. Like Cruise on to a vintage biplane, Dana jumps on the call to discuss all the film's death-defying stunts, clunky exposition, and lasting cultural impact. Next, they're joined by Slate senior editor Rebecca Onion to dish on Sirens, Netflix's pastel-hued dramedy starring Meghan Fahey, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore. Finally, Slate's music critic Carl Wilson arrives to grapple with the hugely successful, but critically polarizing, new Morgan Wallen album I'm the Problem. In an exclusive Plus segment, Amy, fresh from the Riviera, shares with Julia and Dana her favorite films and moments from the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Endorsements: Amy: The 19th season of the British game show Taskmaster, wherein a group of comedians are made to do impossible tasks by host Greg Davies. Nick and Angela welcome a master of his craft to Dish. Alex Horne is an English comedian, writer and creator of the award-winning and highly original game show Taskmaster, which he cohosts with Greg Davies. Horne, born in Chichester, began his comedy career as a student doing routines at open mic nights in Cambridge before appearing at his first Edinburgh Fringe in 2000. It was at the Fringe that Taskmaster came to life, before making its debut on our TV screens in 2009 (first on Dave and now on Channel 4). The show, now in its 19th season, has been broadcast in over 120 countries and recently was turned into a live immersive experience in London. Alex, who lives in Chesham with his wife and three sons, is also the lead singer of The Horne Section, a ‘six-headed musical comedy band', who have extended their UK and Ireland tour across the duration of 2025. They can also be seen on TV in the aptly titled The Horne Section TV Show, which returns for its second series later this year. Nick, Angela and Alex start the episode over a Guinness with a side of Pringles, before enjoying meatballs in tomato sauce, a recipe by the one and only... Angela Hartnett. The perfectly crafted meatballs are served alongside a glass of Primitivo di Manduria Riserva. With so much going on in Alex's life, this episode covers a lot of funny ground, including the origins of Taskmaster, The Horne Section and Alex's skills in the kitchen, while Angela learns something new about Pringles… We are doing a live episode in Sheffield! On Friday 4 July, Dish will be at The Crucible Theatre at Crossed Wires Festival. For our second ever live show, Nick and Angela will be joined by the newly announced and hilariously funny comedian, Lucy Beaumont. Tickets are available now at crossedwires.live. You can watch full episodes of Dish on YouTube All recipes from this podcast can be found at waitrose.com/dishrecipes A transcript for this episode can be found at waitrose.com/dish We can't all have a Michelin star chef in the kitchen, but you can ask Angela for help. Send your dilemmas to dish@waitrose.co.uk and she'll try to answer them in a future episode. Dish from Waitrose is made by Cold Glass Productions.
#Taskmaster #GregDavies #AlexHorne Q&A on Series 19 of Taskmaster with hosts Greg Davies & Alex Horne. Moderated by Mara Webster, In Creative Company. Greg Davies is the `Taskmaster' in this game show that challenges the wit and wisdom of five celebrities, who are all putting their reputations on the line. Sidekick Alex Horne assists Davies in setting up unique and ridiculous tasks for the competitors, which include painting a picture of a horse whilst riding a horse, and making a portrait of a celebrity using only toilet rolls. The competition is further fuelled by the fact that the prize pot is made up of each person's personal possessions, which they will lose to the overall winner.

This is episode 75! And I'm thrilled to introduce my guest today. He is a true pioneer in the field of behavioural finance, Dr. Greg Davies. Greg is the Head of Behavioural Finance at Oxford Risk and has spent his career shaping how we understand investor psychology, financial decision-making, and the emotional complexities that come with managing money—especially in retirement. In this episode, we'll explore the behavioural traps that retirees often fall into, how to build financial resilience, and why understanding your own psychology is just as important as having a well-structured portfolio. Throughout our conversation, Greg and I explore the multifaceted aspects of retirement planning, emphasizing the importance of guaranteed income and its psychological benefits. We discuss how behavioural finance plays a crucial role in spending habits during retirement, the impact of inflation on purchasing power, and the distinction between risk and volatility in investment strategies. We also touch on future trends in retirement planning, particularly the potential need for and benefits of health insurance and a shift in focus from bequest to spending during retirement. Key Takeaways Greg Davis shares his journey from economics to behavioral finance. Behavioral finance combines psychology, economics, and finance. The importance of practical applications of behavioral science in finance. People often make poor financial decisions due to cognitive biases. Simplifying complex financial concepts is crucial for better decision-making. Emotional comfort plays a significant role in financial decisions. Retirement planning today is more complex than in previous generations. Technology can help simplify financial decision-making processes. Understanding personal values is essential for effective retirement planning. The removal of guaranteed income streams complicates retirement planning. Financial advisors often overlook the emotional aspects of retirement planning. Guaranteed income can alleviate fears of running out of money. Behavioral finance significantly influences spending habits in retirement. People with guaranteed income tend to spend more comfortably. Inflation poses a significant risk to retirement savings. Understanding the difference between risk and volatility is crucial for investors. Many retirees are too conservative with their investment strategies. Health insurance will become increasingly important in retirement planning. The focus of retirement planning is shifting from bequest to spending. Planning for retirement should consider both financial and emotional factors. A senior nurse said he's filled with dread at the prospect of police pulling back from their involvement with mental health patients. Starting today, Police are reducing the time they'll spend on mental health callouts - including limiting ED handovers to 15 minutes and they'll also spend less time on transporting patients and dealing with low risk cases. Frontline workers have warned there's an increased risk of violence with police turning more of their focus to crime fighting duties. Duly authorised officers or DAO's, are nurses with special powers to assess and detain mental health patients and RNZ understand about half a dozen of them have quit over safety concerns. Greg Davies is a DAO who is still on the job in Marlborough and spoke to Lisa Owen.

James Smith from Leeds band Yard Act met New Zealand comedian Rose Matafeo at Glastonbury festival a couple of years ago when the pair were watching little Simz. Since then, Smith's group has invited Matafeo to sing on their second album, Where's My Utopia?, star in one of their music videos and open for them in their hometown. What better excuse did we need to get them both in a room to discuss the time Rose accidentally put her hand up Jools Holland's back just after Rod Stewart winked at her, the horrible gig that led to James writing the song Rose would become the face of, what Taskmaster is really like to film, and how James and Yard Act will attempt to navigate this year's Glastonbury. Greg Davies is a familiar face on television as the host of Taskmaster, the BAFTA-winning game show, and he has achieved sell out national arena tours as a stand-up. His on-screen breakthrough came in 2008 when he played the head of the sixth form, Mr Gilbert, in the highly successful teenage comedy series the Inbetweeners. He wrote and starred in the black comedy the Cleaner and co-wrote the sitcom Man Down in which he played a man in the grip of a midlife crisis. Greg was born in St Asaph in north Wales and grew up in Shropshire. At school he gravitated towards what he calls the silly boys who created characters and devised comedy sketches in the playground. When he was 18 he discovered Eddie Murphy whose stand-up routines about his relatives spurred Greg to look to his own family as comedic source material.Greg spent 13 years as an English and Drama teacher – a time he looks back on with mixed emotions and which he has mined for his stage act. When he was 33 he left teaching and started performing stand-up gigs and performed his first solo stand-up show at the Edinburgh Festival in 2010. Greg lives in south London. Greg Davies and Russell sit down to discuss the most precious items in Greg's life. As you might expect from one of the world's greatest storytellers, it's an absolute cracker. You'll get tales about when Greg pretended to die, when a tree spoke to him and Greg tells the story of why he started stand-up comedy in the first place. It's tremendous from start to finish. Russell will be touring Australia and New Zealand very soon, so if you're intent on seeing the latest show and you live there, well you're in luck! If you live in the UK, you had more than enough opportunity and you've only got yourself to blame. Antipodeans! Get tickets right now at russell-howard.co.uk. In this week's episode of the show, the gals are inexplicably joined by a Bomb Cyclone! While in this week's episode of the podcast Tim and Guy are inexplicably joined by comedy titan, Greg Davies! Greg runs the lads through his discovery of and relationship to Sex and the City, with some surprising similarities to themselves. This conversation covers Greg's genuine disappointment at the show finding its feet, the exciting possibilities of a Che Diaz spinoff, some fascinating visual choices in how to represent a snow storm in Manhattan and why Herbert Wexley may be emerging as the season's villain. There is also a food comparison and much discussion as to how and why ‘And Just Like That…' is like an occasionally delicious but wholly unpredictable, ever changing sandwich.Intro theme: Brendan LottOutro theme: SterlingSupport us via our Substack for access to premium content Hosted on Acast. #453 Unchained Melody - Richard has got very angry with a cold caller - was he in there right? His guest is brilliant stand up and creator of new TV comedy “The Change”, Bridget Christie. In an explosive opening they discuss why Richard isn't presenting the Masked Singer (amongst much else) and why he is evil for eating chocolate buttons, but then things calm down a bit as they discuss Bridget's major TV debut, whether men do an equal share of household duties and the app that might help, why there are so few comedy shows about middle aged women, how getting older can be liberating and how amazing it is to have a channel and production team that let you get on with your vision. Plus working with Jerome Flynn and what it was like for Richard to introduce him on Top of the Pops. Also the primeval dance with Greg Davies and the extraordinary power of Taskmaster and getting to appear on Ghosts.See Bridget in Edinburgh https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/bridget-christie-who-am-iAnd on tour https://www.bridgetchristie.co.uk/gigs/And watch The Change here https://www.channel4.com/programmes/the-changeCome and see RHLSTP live - all dates and confirmed guests here http://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp. #446 Hi di Hi - Richard is doing more topical jokes that will be slightly out of date at time of broadcast but a valuable resource for the people of the future. His guest is comedian, author and potato hat wearer Jenny Eclair. They chat about the Bay City Rollers, the portrait of Les Gray, how cystitis ruined the bingo, the sexual allure of Greg Davies, childish comedians coping with the devastation of middle age, whether Richard will survive to have any life after his children have left home, their various ear complaints and how Jenny met her husband under a car. Not quite the topics of discussion when they shared a flat at the Fringe in the 1990s.Listen to Older and Wider - https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/older-and-wider-podcast/id1446310659Come and see RHLSTP live - all dates and confirmed guests here http://richardherring.com/rhlstpSUPPORT THE SHOW!Watch our TWITCH CHANNELSee extra content at our WEBSITE Become a member at https://plus.acast.com/s/rhlstp.
