Walker Lukens and I spent a few hours in his studio, where we talked about nearly everything. It was wonderfully candid. We just couldn't stop, and because of that, I am breaking this podcast into two parts. We discuss his podcast, Song Confessional, and how he's able to pull off such a great concept. After an amazing anecdote about performing at a wedding, we also discuss what it's like to share be in a band with his fiancé, McKenzie, his lyrical style, and what he's been doing during to create meaning during this challenging COVID era. In Part Two, we take a deep dive into his production style, the peaks and valleys of the music industry, the process of assembling Song Confessional, and then we finish with a somewhat haunting acoustic version of his song, We See U.

Buffalo, NY-based alternative band Mom Said No has sprinted out of the garage and set its sights on the national stage. While some of the group’s members are still in their teens, Mom Said No has already perfected its own brand of high-energy, dramatic, and tuneful pop. With the vocal harmonic influences from The Beach Boys to the high energetic performances of James Brown and the pop sensibilities of The Cars, Mom Said No is truly an experience of its own.   Mom Said No’s debut EP, Motivation, presents four radio-ready original songs and is available for download through iTunes, Spotify, and Amazon. Recorded at Goo Goo Dolls bassist Robby Takac’s GCR Audio studios, the EP includes contributions from 10,000 Maniacs violinist/vocalist Mary Ramsey, Psychedelic Furs saxophonist Mars Williams, and Arkells keyboardist/vocalist Anthony Carone. Walker Lukens is having himself a nice musical journey, one that many musicians would envy.
