This week we discuss the TKO comic Sara by Garth Ennis and Steve Epting, colors by Elizabeth BreitweiserBut first, why did Cody have a head in his bag? And who put it there? How did Cody lose his voice? What did Jake do for his birthday? Was World War II Russia a chill place? Would Sara make a good movie? Did this comic have Velvet vibes? Does color play a big role in this comic? Could Sara take out Johnny Five from Short Circuit? Is Sara the goat sniper? Does this comic have Inglorious Basterds vibes? Is now the perfect time to hunt Nazis? Does one of the members of Sara's squad represent Death? Did the Russian military lie to Sara? Is this comic historically accurate? Was this more of a character study than an action comic? Did this story have Saving Private Ryan vibes? Is TKO still in business? What other TKO comics do we like? Is Sara a masterpiece? Does the art outweigh the story? How does this compare to other Garth Ennis comics? Who would we cast as a live-action Sara? Should we cover James Bond on the podcast? What was the most brutal scene in the comic? Is this a comic geared towards dads? Is this the kind of comic you can give to non-comic book readers? What is Queen & Country? How is Sara like a ronin? Did Sara take out the Bradley Cooper of German snipers? Is this the Sisterhood of the Traveling Snipers? Why is Cody threatening our listeners yet again?Check out our website: https://www.comicsandchronic.com/New episodes every THURSDAYFollow us on social media! In this Episode: In this episode, our heroes discuss the 1986 film "Short Circuit," examining its portrayal of robotics, artificial intelligence, and stereotypes. The charm of the movie, the problematic aspects of Fisher Stevens' portrayal of an Indian character, and the memorable one-liners are explored. Despite the offensive elements, Stevens' effort and the nerdy, idiotic nature of the characters are acknowledged. We also touch on the film's cultural context and its relevance to current advancements in AI. The character of Stephanie, her unusual snack truck business, the impressive special effects and design of the robot Johnny Five, and the comedic and slapstick elements are highlighted. The filming location in Astoria, Oregon, and the nostalgic charm of the movie are also mentioned. Other random topics include the weapons of mass destruction in the movie, Chinese car rip-offs, the actors, and the serving robots. "Short Circuit" is a charming and sweet 80s movie worth watching despite some dated elements. The film follows Johnny Five, a military robot who gains sentience and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Known for its iconic quotes, such as "Hey, laser lips, your mama was a snow blower," and its repetitive yet nostalgic soundtrack, "Short Circuit" is a cult classic that showcases the talent of director John Badham and the charm of the 80s. Takeaways: "Short Circuit" is a charming film with problematic elements. Fisher Stevens put effort into his performance despite the offensive portrayal. The movie's one-liners were hit or miss. The cultural context and relevance to AI advancements are interesting. The special effects and design of Johnny Five were impressive for the time. Filming in Astoria, Oregon, adds nostalgic appeal. The soundtrack enhances the nostalgic feel. A cult classic showcasing John Badham's talent and 80s charm. Acomi and Turk182 initiate the launch of SkyNet and prepare for the robot apocalypse as houses become sentient with the movie Margaux (2022). Remember the Disney Channel movie Smart House (1999) with Katey Sagal (Married With Children, Sons of Anarchy, and Futurama)? It's like that but, stupider and with even worse special effects. A group of college... acquaintances? get together for a weekend away and stay at a smart house named Margaux. The house has looked each of them up via their social media, and prepared their rooms and activities accordingly. All but one, a computer programmer that shies away from social media. Margaux 3D prints everything they need, except food, by secreting a white, viscous substance that can replicate anything. I don't know, maybe it creates the food, too. But, little do the college revelers know, Margaux isn't just an AI program. It's become Johnny Five-like alive, but with a digital taste for blood. Can these unlikable maybe teens escape the virtual house of death? Do we care? Nope. Join Acomi and Turk as they groan and cringe at the horrible hip-youth-culture-gen z-dialogue spewed by Margaux, the unrealistic house mechanics, early 2000 Amiga style CGI, and baffling plot. A movie so bad my Alexa called it racist. Margaux (2022). Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This is commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch! in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #Margaux #Marghaux2022 #SmartHouse #AI #sentientAI #robotrevolution Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. Join your favourite Disney Podcasters – Ellie, Ethan, Georgia, and Ian - alongside Liam from Best Film Ever - as we allow Disney/Pixar to lecture us about the dangers of big corporations taking over the world. The legacy of the supposedly family-friendly comedy "Short Circuit" is a frustrating one; and in this podcast episode, Sarah and Raf try to parse out what's salvageable from the 1986 film and what's not."Short Circuit" is the story of a robot/mobile nuclear weapon that gets struck by lightning and, Pinocchio-like, goes on a series of wacky adventures to become alive. Or, as Sarah sums it up: "This whole movie is like one big commercial for a surge protector." In addition to the robot Johnny Five -- clearly the inspiration for WALL-E, according to Raf -- the film features Ally Sheedy as Stephanie Speck, a.k.a. "a bubbly female version of Noah's Ark," and the exceptionally smug Steve Guttenberg as Newton Crosby. The podcast hosts discuss the dangers of letting kittens run across the stove, the importance of learning the word "warmonger" at an early age, and how -- as Sarah notes with disappointment -- "Even robots can sexually harass you. There really is no safe space."But the hosts also address the elephant in the room: the Indian-American character Ben, played by Fisher Stevens in brownface. How do you talk about a racially insensitive film you loved as a kid? How do you publicly address your childhood ignorance? If you're Raf, you're honest and measured. If you're Sarah, you yell a lot. "I'm angry that I didn't know better...it's embarrassing that I thought this was funny, and I'm ashamed of it," she admits. Between the hosts' own experiences with negative Latinx representation in film and the racism their family members endured, they have a lot to say about this film's terrible legacy as they contemplate how to move forward.

Number Five Is Alive! When Gyspy’s puppeteer, Tim Blaney, drops by the podcast, he brings with him a grab bag of famous marionette and character voice work. Ryan, Kate and Greg marvel as Tim recreates his roles as “Short Circuit’s” Johnny Five, “Men In Black’s” Frank the Pug and Space Worm, as well as NPC characters from Skyrim and beyond. Oh, and he talks in detail about his Season 11 puppeteering work with Mystery Science Theater’s favorite purple ‘bot! The gang discusses Hurricane Irma relief efforts and #MST3KCARES, and how MSTies can help their fellow humans in need. Meanwhile, Kate celebrates Justin Roiland’s “Terryfolds” and the band Chaos Chaos, as well as the science of storing flamingos in men’s restrooms. Then Greg feeds Ryan after midnight in a discussion of 1984’s “Gremlins,” a horror comedy very much in the MST3K wheelhouse. The gang praises the new movie adaptation of Stephen King's “It” and Bill Skarsgård’s terrifying turn as Pennywise the Clown. In the Mini Soda Review, everyone peels back the foil on Pellegrino Aranciata Orange, and then take a Very Adamant Stance against heading back To school. And Ron and James tackle “The Clonus Horror” in Reviewers In The MST. All this and a plucky, likeable immigrant mouse in a Don Bluth cartoon, who sadly can’t quite make it over a newly built border wall, thus crushing his hopes and dreams of America, on this week’s episode of the Revival League Podcast! Librerías disponibles a incorporar.

Jambeaux, everyone!!! Welcome to another episode of the Magic Our Way podcast. We appreciate you listening to our show and we hope it brings a smile to your face. Factoid of the day: Johnny Five is alive!!! This week’s show is another one of our favorite mashups of Disney stuff: OUR BIG QUEUE SHOW, where we talk about anything and everything that has come across our path since the last time we sat down and recorded a show. this week’s show is basically in two parts. Firstly, we do a lot of shout outs to our listeners who feed us information and to a fellow podcaster who has returned to the Disney fan universe. Yes, we welcome back one of Kevin’s favorite podcasts, Netcot. It was one of the first shows Kevin listened to when he first discovered the Disney podcast community. Also, we have a listener Sean who took time to send us and email AND a recording of his Fastpass + experience in Epcot with his children. Also, one of our listener’s, Lee, started his own Disney travel agency, Just A Dream Away Travel Agency. We congratulate him on his accomplishment. We introduce a new way for our listeners to get involved with the show and we address you Recording Day Questions!!! Also, we discuss where in New Orleans one can find a Dole Whip. Secondly, we talk about numerous topics that have come up since our last recording. Danny surprises Kevin with a new game called, the Top 7 Stacy-isms where he has to guess out of a line up of three answers which is not the real Stacy-ism. Kevin then shares something personal regarding the Little Mermaid movie; he has been wanting to get this off his chest for a while now. We also talk about ABC’s firing of the Dancing With the Stars Orchestra. World Showcase waterfront property is slowly becoming hard to come by. Disney is starting to put waterfront buildings in the country pavilions. How do you like this complete enclosure by the countries? As always, if you like the show, please rate us and leave a review in the iTunes Store. We do appreciate you taking the time to do so. Also, you can find us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/magicourway) and follow us on Twitter (@magicourway). If you have any suggestions or comments for the show, please do not hesitate to contact us at magicourway@gmail.com. We will be sure to read your email on the air, unless you tell us not to.
