While his academic resume tells a story of accomplishment on its own, that's only the beginning. Dolapo is also an accomplished musician, with an amazing ability to play the piano and use his literary prowess to spit some concious bars. We interviewed Dolapo as he was preparing to enter 3L or his last year of law school. We discuss navigating traditional career paths (because ultimately the African parents must be proud) but also pursue your other interests, that may or may not be the road less traveled. We can wait for ya'll to hear his story, be inspired, encouraged and reminded that you two can be a law student who records visual albums (move over Beyoncé), travels for shows, and speak to the moral fabric of the countries he hails from and the countries he lives in, all while having fun!! In a society that is marred with social unrest coupled with a pandemic, it's easy to lose hope and feel like you can do nothing. As part of Hannah and Bianca's commitment to bringing new voices to the table, we invited Shane Lloyd, who is currently a diversity and inclusion consultant for Cook Ross. Prior to working in diversity and inclusion in corporate America, Shane worked predominantly with students of color at Brown University and Yale University. This episode is particularly poignant as Shane takes us on a journey of discovery and authenticity as we discover new ways to thrive as our full selves in predominantly white spaces. If you have questions or thoughts concerning the formation of identity, how to dismantle the heavily ingrained systems of oppresion in higher education and corporate America, this episode is for you. We suggest a pen and paper be at your disposal, as well as a cup of tea and a snack.
