Rob shares how his perspective began to change after attending BFRO outings, where he encountered unusual evidence that included track casts, a thermal image of something apparently swaying between trees near Bunking Lake, and strange red orbs seen hovering above his vehicle.One of his most unsettling experiences came during a night at Loon Lake in Idaho's Payette National Forest.Rob and a friend noticed a faint yellow light moving low to the ground before catching a brief glimpse of what appeared to be a tall, reddish figure. Soon afterward, a powerful vocalization resembling the famous “Ohio howl” echoed through the area for hours. As the night continued, both men were left with the disturbing feeling that something was following them through the forest.The conversation also explores other reported Idaho encounters, including sightings around Loon Lake, Priest Lake, Highway 12, and the Payette River Meanders, where witnesses in 2024 reported seeing two large upright figures in broad daylight. When a Northern Saw-whet Owl spreads its wings, many birds can see something our human eyes can't: the owl's flight feathers glow with ultraviolet light. It's invisible to humans without the help of a UV blacklight. While the glowing feathers on parrots might help them attract mates, the reason for the owls' glowing feathers still isn't clear. However, scientists realized that they could estimate an owl's age based on the pattern of luminescent color on the wings, which changes predictably as birds grow and replace their feathers. Season 11 Episode 557 “You Glowing” by EverydayMedia

First, we talk CSI Con Buffalo (coming soon!), a new study on how pigeons find their way, and the passing of an ad man who coined Ben's favorite skeptical phrase. Then we look back at a video taken at a gas station just outside Lima, Peru, in 2016 that perplexed viewers around the world. This is a great example to show the difference between hasty, dismissive skepticism and a truly thorough dive into solving the mystery. Ben peels back layer after layer until we have a hefty basket of clues that add up to a good conclusion. It all begins with an initial look at a video for the show "Strange Evidence," where Ben's heavily edited appearance was among the experts who were baffled (according to the narrator, anyway). From there, Ben collected more and more information and ended up in Peru himself, retracing steps at the gas station and finding even more surprising pieces of the puzzle. How does a non-mystery evolve into a mystery? In this case it had help from Anthony Choy, a Peruvian mystery-monger, as well as some quiet eye-witnesses and over-eager news media and public.

Brian welcomes back North Carolina BFRO researcher Rick for a wide-ranging conversation filled with field reports, strange activity, and thoughtful discussion about the ever-evolving world of Bigfoot research. Rick begins by revisiting his own 2010 road-crossing encounter before taking listeners into recent BFRO expeditions in southeastern Tennessee and South Carolina's Sumter National Forest, where investigators experienced a series of intense and unexplained nighttime events.During these outings, Rick describes loud impacts against a metal building, rocks being thrown near the group, unusual eye shine or glowing eyes appearing 7 to 9 feet off the ground, and colors that seemed to shift between red, yellow-green, and white.
