After all, she is confused because she doesn't have a husband according to Mary. I did a little research and this is what I found:- The greek word is "ginosko" which means "to know" not "to have". The literal translation is "I do not know a husband/man." If we remember back in Genesis "to know" for a jew it is an intimate knowing...the sexual act (i.e. Adam "knew" Eve in genesis and then had a baby). This makes more sense of my proposal. She is not confused on whether or not she has a husband but the confusion is on "knowing" a husband since she already has a husband. - As for already being married in the context of her being betrothed, you can see this in the narrative of when Joseph had a dream about Mary being pregnant during their "betrothal", he initially decides to "divorce" her quietly. This shows that while they were only "betrothed" Joseph still thought they were married since he proposed divorce (cf. Matthew 1.18-19).- I hope this helps!Live near Boulder, Colorado?
