I'm Talking To My God (The Sacrecy of Life) by Justin Jones
Blacks With Blues Radio Presents A Very Special Mix Juniper celebrates their DJ debut with “
Man real talk I just need to celebrate myself. I've been thinking about what that feels like these days. I've missed moving my body to music that heals my spirit. And as I'm leaving the grip of winter, I'm noticing that that is the first thing I can do to celebrate myself. So this mix is for me and everything that I need to hear. N*ggas is alive, healthy, healing, and building new environments for themselves. And damnit I'mma finally let myself celebrate EVERYTHING I've managed to do for myself under some really stressful circumstances. This is a call for my humble era to go up in smoke with the rest of the sh*t that no longer represents who I am. So with that being said I'mma bout to drop some fire….. This mix is for my niggas coming out of the winter with new growth. This is a mix I dreamt up in the thick of it. A mix for waking up to the sun, to water, to wining your waist, and letting your hair out. To plantains for breakfast and time spent smiling on the porch. A mix for experiencing vacation on earth. “I like to produce these mixes as sonic love letters to myself. Sometimes its just to remind myself of the audacity I have to explore and re-explore my own emotions. Other times it's just to give myself a soundtrack to process the contentious moments of my life with ease. I'm just here to make as many experiences as I get the chance to live.” Justin (Juniper) Lamarr Jones (@131.295) sonically illustrates periods of growth, fever dreams, and introspection with an hour long mix for this Month's episode of @blx.w.blues radio —titled— “The Bull In Me Is Building A Bridge Between My Bodies/A Walkway From Nightmares To Childhood Desires” . . . Fluidly shifting through archived audio recordings and music, Juniper aka. Justin Lamarr Jones returns to the intimate soundscape of a time when they felt at home. Inspired by James Baldwin's “If Beale Street Could Talk” this episode is an homage to the scared relationship between an individual and the place they call home.

After William H. Johnson's Painting "Seated Woman In Flowered Dress" I am curating this mix as a love letter to the mundane. I am identifying the beauty of mundanity in my everyday life. Intuition, self-belief, and the radical acceptance of earthly imperfection are my friends. I wanted to provide this episode as a reminder that we are all still here together. We are all breathing, learning, and experiencing within this world. You are not alone. Things may seem bad, they may prove to get worse, and bouts of depression may surface, but as a Black person with a surpassable amount of blues I want to express to you that the preservation of ourselves is vital to survival. It is love that carries us through the doomsdays just as it is the preservation of ourselves that allow us to stand day-to-day. I hope these messages and vibrations bring you peace and move you to feel liberated in thought. I want to thank all of the amazing people who had a part in this episode. Please consider yourselves welcome members of Blacks With Blues. This project is a work in progress and with your help we will continue to grow and create a structured narrative of what it means to be Black with the blues. I also want to thank Alyssa Osasere for the cover art for this episode. Collaborations like these is what unify us which also makes us harder to rule. Feel better my people, a positive shift is coming soon, but first we have to prepare ourselves for a much needed change.

A very heartfelt and wholesome THANK YOU to every soul that found this podcast and took the time to indulge into what I, Justin Jones, and Blacks With Blues humbly represent. A special thanks must go outl to our music curators here at Blacks With Blues, Audrey Meadows and Alyssa Osasere for helping out with the episode. Here, we believe in music, art, and black culture as a means of healing and telling the stories of our people - black and brown people with the blues. This episode is a brief (well as brief as three hours can be)musical and verbal explanation as to what is going on in our world as brown and black people with the blues along with a few feel good tracks and songs that make you thin about what it feels like to be a black anything. Obviously the entirety of the "black struggle" couldn't be condensed into one episode so stay tuned for more talk on issues facing the black diaspora & so much more... ***TRACK LIST*** 1.
