Welcome back to our deep dive into the world of Bridget Jones! In this episode, we speed through a funny and engaging comparison between 'Bridget Jones's Diary' and 'Bridget Jones's Mad About the Boy.' The Order is now streaming in Australia. Stay tuned for a pod-exclusive chat about Lucy and Tristan's favourite film romances. He was featured in episode 37 (link here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJf-a1VJ8yI). Doug seems so well connected and while speaking he said if I can swing it, I really should talk with his friend, Erden Eruç. As in, REALLY. So I reached out and we set up a call. For standard interviews, it's really important to do research – but not on these podcasts! The show is about the RAW moment, unfiltered, open, connection. The magic that happens when two people meet. This is also important to me because of the work I've done through Service Leadership with Po Chung. Together, we really got into why the connection between two people, is itself so crucial So full of possibility. This, after all, was the magic of how Po helped build DHL into such a global powerhouse. Meeting Erden as I did, not knowing his story, mission and incredible journey, I discovered a driven, inspired, and totally amazing man I can't say enough great things about. I had already seen the effect of Michael's work, as a dramatic Kids Ocean Day was held in Hong Kong and a powerful image of a shark being finned was shared across media and promoted through Shark Rescue. We met a couple of times and I heard him speak on why he's so motivated to drive Kids Ocean Day. At the heart of it is a deep and lasting love – yes, LOVE – of the ocean and marine habitats. Listening to him speak, I was blown away by how many kids he's inspired (just a few years away from hitting one million!) I really wasn’t mad about Roma while I was watching it. It was a quiet arty experience and I appreciated the cinematography and getting to see the very specific world it created (and perhaps documented). But I didn’t find it moving. I expected to. I brought a pocketful of tissues and I did not use a single one. Not that my tears are required for a moving experience. But I was oddly unaffected and I was trying to understand why. So I did some googling and saw this cascade of articles declaring Roma to be a feminist film. That’s when I started to get mad. Sure, there are mostly women in the film and that’s really nice and all but crowing about it as a banner feminist film? Sorry. No. Now I’m mad about it.
