Nikki Camilleri is a music industry executive, mentor, speaker, arts and social rights advocate and founder of Mana (from the maltese word ‘magħna' meaning ‘with us' or ‘as a collective'). Noting so many artists to be underserved in an increasingly difficult and changing industry, she started Mana to create direct impact leveraging over 10 years experience across leading music companies (Warner Music, Believe Group, Glastonbury Festival etc.) working with and signing artists who have amassed millions of streams and played countless sold out live shows such as Ayelle, Alfa Mist and David Guetta. Mana's mission is to advance sustainable careers in the music industry - enabling artists to maximise their projects, driving social impact through creative work, advocating for working conditions in which music professionals thrive and as a result breaking down the barriers of who gets to be creative. Mia Gladstone is a New York based singer, multi-instrumentalist, producer and programmer. Her genre bending style incorporates the cutting up of Jazz, Funk, and R&B, before reassembling it for the social media age. Promoting messages of self-acceptance, compassion, and creative freedom her Loopy project in 2022 explored gender, identity, social media, and the complexities of the human mind. Rommel Donald, better known as ROMderful, is a British producer, multi-instrumentalist and singer on the rise. Currently based in Seoul, South Korea, his slick, woozy, and experimental production style blends Pharrell Williams with Flying Lotus. Maiya Blaney is a singer from New York who released her debut album 3 in 2021. She writes about the nuances of human connection and emotion, and how they play big parts in the machinations of everyday society, soundtracked through the influence of jazz and soul. She also collaborated with Mia Gladstone on her Loopy project. Independent R&B singer Emmavie says she's "addicted" to music, and that being an independent artist means working every day “with no PR, no label and quite often with no money”. She's collaborated with the likes of Kojey Radical, Alfa Mist, and fellow guest ROMderful. Together they discuss the pain of song writing, processing emotions, being the vessels for their art and music, defining success and being nerds. In part two, ROMDerful shares a playlist of music he's called Different Parts Of Your Adventure On The Road. It features tunes from Louis Cole, Hello Yello, Children of Zeus and Poom.

Today's Artist Story episode of Fox Tales is a really special one. We found Carmody back in 2014 with her delightful first EP with Tom Misch called Out to Sea and completely fell in love with her voice and storytelling. You might also know her from her other wonderful releases like Skin, My Jupiter & Catching Blue, or from her collaborations with Connor Albert, edbl, or Alfa Mist. She dropped by for a chat to talk about her debut album Imperfect Constellations that just got its Deluxe Version released, and to share about her experience with alternative therapy and about her love for poetry. "Jordan Rakei" is a multi-instrumentalist singer, songwriter and producer based in London.Jordan was born in New Zealand but moved to Australia as a child. He got into music via his parents record collection which included artists such as Stevie Wonder and Pink Floyd. As a musician it was the music of Stevie Wonder that would inspire Jordan to tech himself the piano, originally studying Stevie's chord progressions.Based in Brisbane, Jordan would begin to produce his own music, originally using Fruity Loops. He created a SoundCloud account to upload his music and it wasn't long before he put together his debut EP, "Franklin's Room" which he self-released in 2013.Despite being able to make a living solely from music while living in Brisbane, Jordan thought that his life was a little too easy, and not challenging enough. It was this feeling that eventually led him to move to London, where is he currently based.Fast forward to 2022, with many albums under his belt and a record deal with Ninja Tune, Jordan continues to explore his version of electronic soul, mixed with his unique lyrical approach."Roots to Grooves" is a production of SIGNL.https://www.signlradio.comhttps://www.instagram.com/signlradiohttps://www.twitter.com/signlradiohttps://www.facebook.com/signlradiohttps://www.mixcloud.com/signlhttps://open.spotify.com/user/96mhz6qfjoztxbl2dpm0uj903?si=aAZpsoEnRAKdx85kr1QWhg

"Alfa Mist" is a British Jazz pianist, producer and rapper based in London.Growing up in the London borough of Newham to a single immigrant mother, Alfa's love of music originally led him to start producing beats in the vein of J Dilla. His curiosity in how hip-hop found it's roots led him to discover the original Jazz records that these producers were sampling from. His discovery of old jazz evolved into Alfa wanting to self-teach himself piano at the age of 17, so that he could bring the chords and harmonies to life in his own compositions. Alfa has gone on to release multiple albums and EP's, often featuring conversations with his brothers and sisters on themes of mental health and self-image. As usual, there is much more to know. Jay and Jesse dive into Alfa's history, his career, and spin a few of their favorite tracks. To listen to the full episode, including the featured music, visit... signlradio.com"Roots to Grooves" is a production of SIGNL.https://www.signlradio.comhttps://www.instagram.com/signlradiohttps://www.twitter.com/signlradiohttps://www.facebook.com/signlradiohttps://www.mixcloud.com/signlhttps://open.spotify.com/user/96mhz6qfjoztxbl2dpm0uj903?si=aAZpsoEnRAKdx85kr1QWhg
Música nueva para volarte la cabeza de St. Vincent, Guedra Guedra, Los Mambo Jambo, Alfa Mist y Alfredo Gutiérrez y sus acordeones dorados. Presentada por Omar Morales.
There's a worldwide revolution happening in modern music. Across the pond, the UK has countless talents blazing new trails and Yussef Dayes is a big part of it. First as the drummer in the duo Yussef Kamal, and now for his stellar adventures solo and collaborative: Alfa Mist, Tom Misch, and the legendary Blue Note Records. Dayes brings a fusion of soul, electronica, and funk that's like an ultra modern cinema for the ears. Keeping with Blighty, the second half continues with the vibe that jazz has left on the multicultural United Kingdom. It started with a Trad Fad in the ‘50s, eventually taking on the elements of it's African, Asian, Caribbean, and youth communities with fearless results–from Afro-Beat to free jazz to Northern Soul and dancehall culture. We wax on with a list of serious contenders: Dizzy Reece, Emma Jean Thackray, Courtney Pine, the elusive Origin, and IG Culture. Plus, we'd be remiss to forget Cliff Townshend's singing saxophone, aka the forebear of The Who's Pete Townshend.
