Cross Church is a community of faith that loves God and loves People. Located in Denton, Texas it is our mission to impact our community for Jesus Christ. Our call is simple: Reach, Connect and Grow believers to a new level of relationship with God. Our church is unique because we value and embrace…
The Bible clearly teaches that this world is not our home. We are searching, looking, anticipating, and hoping that there’s a better place, that home of the soul. God through Jesus has prepared a home for those that accept and believe in Him. Ultimately, God wants us to “Come Home.”
God desires to provide for everyone of our needs.
Just like the Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion we all are on a journey to discover wisdom, heart and courage. Unlike them we are not looking to the wizard but to God to supply our needs. This message calls everyone to step up in their faith and put action where are words have been.
The lessons from Oz is a 4 week series based on the movie The Wizard of Oz. Pastor Vincent will pull out Biblical truth and applicable lessons from this epic movie. This week just as Dorothy was discouraged and wanted to escape her situation in Kansas, we too want to escape our problems. However, God wants us to turn to Him and not just look for a way out.
We are living in captivity and imprisoned by these strongholds by choice because we’ve already been set free by Jesus Christ. We are imprisoned but are holding our release papers in our hands. We have grown accustom to and comfortable in our imprisonment. This week we look at how we can live free by increasing our Confidence, Courage and Control.
Today we are going to talk about the strongholds that are in our lives. For some this might be uncomfortable topic and for others this is right on time. For all, we must address the strongholds that keep us in bondage because they hinder us from growing closer to God and living abundantly.
You don’t have to be in school to take tests. We take them all the time. In our sermon in Ecclesiastes, the teacher, Solomon is preparing us for the final exam.
Destiny is the life God has preordained. It is the purpose of God for your life. It is the plan and programme of God for your life. It is what one is really meant for. It is what you have been called to be and to do. This week Pastor Vincent talks about how we can fulfill our destiny and live the first class life God designed for us.
We live in a culture which is overstimulated with messages and demands from radio, TV, social media, through email, regular mail, phone calls and more. How do we sort through all these and find balance in our lives? How do you handle the pressure of what the boss is telling you to do, what your spouse is asking you to do, what the kids want you to do, what the school is requiring of you, what the church is calling for you to do, the expectations of friends, extended family, and community? In this sermon we learn how to live balanced in an unbalanced world.
"The most basic question everyone faces in life is Why am I here? What is my purpose? It’s not about you. The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It’s far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by his purpose and for his purpose". - Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life Main Point: It is easy to compromise - to live as the world lives. But God has called us to courage - to honor him regardless of the pressure of persecution this world affords.
In our high speed, cock eyed hurried world, we have become the cell phone junkies. Driving down the highway, you will see more people than not on a cell phone. More Americans correspond by way of high speed internet and texting like never before. Never before has the social network like twitter and facebook brought more people together. Yet people are lonelier than every. This is why Solomon concludes in Ecclesiastics 4 that relationships matter!
Solomon is talking to us about TIME and Seasons. “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 We serve a God of season. We see it in creation. God created the four seasons that are based upon the rotation of the Earth as it orbits the Sun and each season has a purpose. Life is seasonal. In many ways we see the signature of the same artist in our lives. Much like the earth, our lives should revolve around the Son, Jesus Christ. No matter how hard we try to keep things the same we can't avoid the fact that the pendulum of life is constantly swinging, but the Son remains constant yesterday, today and forever.
Life is going to be full of situations that are not going to turn out in the way we hoped they would. We are all guaranteed to experience disappointment!
What matters most to you; what you value the most in your life is very much evidenced by your thoughts, words, and actions. This 9 week series from the book of Ecclesiastes is intended to do 3 things: 1. give us a reality check on life 2. address our search for satisfaction and 3. help us focus on what’s really matters in life
Christ Jesus is the one and only. He is God in the flesh, He is supreme, He is the image of the invisible God, He is the creator of all things, He has authority over everything, He is the peacemaker, He is the head of the church, He’s the only one deserving of all honor and glory and power, He is ENOUGH!
Have you had an Oh My God moment recently? God is daily supplying our needs and exceeding our expectations. This message focuses on Philippians 4:19!
Philemon is a book about breaking down barriers and restoring broken relationships. This sermon shows us how God's desire is for us to reconcile our relationships.
Have you ever done something to someone, but just didn’t know how to ask for forgiveness? Or maybe asking for forgiveness isn’t your problem, but you do have a hard time forgiving. This sermon focuses on the power of God love to forgive.
Through the power of God’s love we and others around us can be transformed from the inside out.
We’ve been studying the book of Nehemiah, and in it we’ve learned about how Nehemiah was called by God to do what seemed almost impossible and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem which had been laying in rubble for over 100 years. This week we’ll see how Nehemiah manages to do what seems so difficult and finished the job! Nehemiah 6:15 — So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days.
Vision: the capacity to create a compelling picture of the desired state of affairs that inspires people to respond; that which is desirable, which could be, should be; that which is attainable. A godly vision is right for the times, right for the church, and right for the people. A godly vision promotes faith rather than fear. A godly vision motivates people to action. A godly vision requires risk-taking. A godly vision glorifies God, not people. Bob Logan. Visions are easy to criticize. In fact, visions even attract criticism. This sermon deals with how to continue building the vision despite the adversity and opposition of the enemy.
In week two of our series "It's Time To Build" we see how it took faith for Nehemiah to accept the call to tackle the tough job of building the walls of Jerusalem and it will take faith for us the build in our own lives, families, community and church.
Nehemiah tells his story in the twentieth year of the reign of Artaxerxes (who is the husband of Easter) king of Persia. (Detail the story)As we start the book of Nehemiah, God is about to instigate another movement back to the Promised Land. Prayer is one of the overriding themes of the book and the secret to Nehemiah’s success. Friends, if we are going to build in 2016 we have to develop a lifestyle of prayer. I want to suggest this morning that Nehemiah went through a process of prayer that has great application and relevance to us today. I like to call them the four “Cs”.
Christmas is a miraculous time of year. The spectacular display by the angels in the sky over the fields where the shepherds were was truly a miracle. The fact that Jesus was born in Bethlehem fulfilling one of many prophecies about the birth of the Messiah was a miracle. And, in this sermon we’re going to look at the real miracles of Christmas, the Miracle of the Manger.
Our Christmas sermon series is Experience the Miracle of Christmas. It is not enough to just know about the miracle of Christmas. We need to experience the miracle of Christmas in our own hearts and lives. So today we want to focus on the Miracle of the Message.
Our theme this year for Advent is Experience the Miracle of Christmas. It is so easy to get all wrapped up (no pun intended) in the activity of the season that we miss the miracle of Christmas. This Christmas season, let's spend some moments reflecting on what the miracle of Christmas is all about and that’s of Christ's birth. For the next 3 weeks we will deal with specific miracles today being “The Miracle of The Moment”.
There are many prayers recorded in Scripture. From Moses, to David, to Jehoshaphat, to Daniel - we’re exposed to powerful, earth shaking prayers, but the prayer of the church at Antioch show us that God DOES pay attention.
It is common for many of us to feel we don’t know how to pray or what to say – and James understood that so he gave us an example of how we can pray. He wrote: "Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops." (James 5:17-18) In other words... if you want to have a good model of how to pray, look at how Elijah prayed. SO that’s what we’re going to do in this message.
In this sermon we discuss that getting rid of our baggage is absolutely essential. However, it can only happen when we allow the Lord to DEAL WITH IT for us. Who’s ready to deal with their baggage and put it down?
We are carrying a lot of unnecessary excess baggage in our lives. Maybe you are a one-bag person, maybe you have multiple bags, or even a trunk stuffed full of things you don't need. Carrying excess baggage through life is not the way God intended life to be lived. God wants to take all of us somewhere better than where we are, but before we take flight we have to get rid of the excess baggage that we carry or the journey will cost us more than what we would like to pay. In this message, we desire to build an atmosphere of freedom, and an opportunity to empty your life of all those things you have packed away and are dragging around. Our object is to Let it go! Travel Light! Live Free!
During hard times we think God has left us but really we’ve pulled away from Him focusing more on our problems that believing in the one who is the problem solver! Most of the time we feel this way because we only see God as the big God upstairs, like the wizard behind the curtain. We know about God but don’t know God - have a personal relationship with HIM. So the questions today is Can I Know God Personally? And if so, HOW?
Almost everyone who has heard of Jesus has developed an opinion about Him. This is to be expected, for He is not only the most famous person in world history, but also the most controversial. In this message we answer the question: Is Jesus Really God.
Because God is greater than we are, we cannot fully understand or explain all of the problems we encounter. However, we can be certain of God’s perfect power, His perfect timing, His perfect purpose, and His perfect love.
Why is it so difficult to believe in God? Because it can be hard to believe in someone or thing that can’t be understood or rationalized. However, in this sermon we discover that the existence of God is an unavoidable fact. Evidence comes from creation, morality, intelligence, and love. Once we establish that there must be a God, we are ready to discover who God really is.
My prayer for this message is that you will see giving as a matter of love between you and God.
We find our money running out before our life does and in-between we have all kinds of problems. We can’t give to the Church the way we want too, we can’t save for the future the way we know we should, we can’t help others in a way that we’d like because we are under heavy financial stress. USA Today reported that 300,000 Americans seek help with credit counseling every month! Probably the most important topic we can discuss is not how we increase our earning power but how we discipline our spending habits and spending our money wisely.
The pull of the world can easily steal our affections away, and cause us to live for the wrong things. See, stuff is not bad, and it is not evil to own stuff, to have money, possessions, nice cars, etc. But when our stuff becomes the priority in our lives over God and others then we have a problem. God gives us a choice – serve God and let Him provide for my physical needs, including a job and money or serve your selfish desires. This sermon helps us set our hearts on things above!
We all have been under the weight of finances and this series shows us how to Biblically manage our finances God's way.
God desires to see the blessed you, the prosperous you, the confident you, the talented you, the healthy you, the spiritual you, the happy you. Why? Because on the inside of us is a person who is created in the image of God and He wants to transform our lives to reflect that image.
Annie" is portrayed as this beautiful little girl hopelessly lost within the foster care child program, yet smart, tough and bright enough to survive the fast-paced New York City streets. Forced to stay with her mean foster mom, Annie somehow manages to tough-it-out in Harlem until one day she accidentally and literally runs into the wealthy billionaire and NYC Mayoral candidate, Will Stacks. Stacks takes Annie into his penthouse home, and begins to fall "head-over-heels" for the adorable little Annie. Meanwhile Annie only has one hope and that is for her parents to someday come back and rescue her from the foster care program. This message looks at the movie Annie and learn how we can thrive instead of just survive adversity.
Jim White, a struggling football coach and teacher who has been had to move around for different incidents in his career takes up as an assistant football coach at McFarland High School in America- McFarland, California one of the poorest cities in the U.S. There he discovers buried potential among several high school boys and he gets interested in building up a cross country team. More than just physical prowess drives the teens to succeed; their strong family ties, incredible work ethic and commitment to their team all play a factor in forging these novice runners into champions. In this message we take clips from the movie Mcfarland USA, find Biblical truths and relate it back to our lives.
This message looks at how we can disconnect from social media to connect in real relationship by focusing on the most common social media icons or attributes: Like Me, Friend Me and Follow Me.
What if we put the same level of dependency in God as we do in our smart phones? What if we said I can’t live without God because he holds all the personal information of my past, present and future. Let’s look at how we can transition the emphasis from our phones to our relationship with God.
The chatterbox hits hard and hits right on our weakest spot. After all, the chatterbox knows us so well, because — — the chatterbox is always with us. But how much victory do we want? Are we willing to keep pounding until something changes in our lives? Week 6 we conclude this series talking about how to win the victory over the chatterbox.
This continuation on the topic of Crashing the Chatterbox deals with the lie of discouragement and how This Time we can overcome with the promise, God says I Can.
In week 4 of the Chatterbox we deal specifically with the voices of condemnation and shame and combat them with the promises that God says, HE HAS.
Week three of Crash The Chatterbox addressed the topic of fear. Our challenge is to overcome the lies of fear with the promise, “God says He will”.
In this sermon we discovery the lies of insecurity and the promise of God that say I AM.
This message introduces the idea of the Chatterbox and talk about some ways we can identify the chatter that threatens to derail our individual destinies. Pastor Vincent also deals with 4 results that are caused by the enemies lies: Insecurity, Fear, Condemnation and Discouraged and 4 truth and promises of God's word: God says I AM, God says I will, God says He has and God says He can!
