Geekistry returns from a four month hiatus with new co-host Bryce Erwin from Taverncast. For new listeners we define what the show is about so that people aren't mistaking us for a knitting podcast. We have a new segment called Geekiversary which we take a special release from the past and discuss what it meant to us over time. This show's Geekiversary is Aliens, released in July of 1986. Another new segment is called The Ring where two classic topics clash. For our first battle we do the classic Star Trek vs. Star Wars. Who will win? We tackle one of the biggest geek parent issues of our time: do you show your kids IV-VI first, or I-VI all the way through?
This Geekistry episode is brought to you by the phrase "technical difficulties". Please stand by while your beloved hosts try to discuss the announcement of the iPad2, their excitement about the next week's start of SXSW 2011, and what they currently think of e-book readers, all while performing such feats using exploding web cams, self-rewiring sound boards, malfunctioning software, and a few other interesting, albeit inconvenient, bits of mayhem.
"All your base are belong to us" turns ten, Michael and Krissi start a new WoW guild, discuss being Browncoats, the ins-and-outs of ripping HD-DVDs, whether or not Jeopardy's "Watson" infringed on copyrights while "learning," and how Geekistry is gearing up for SXSW with UPrinting, StickerMule, social trading cards from Meet-Meme.com, and Krissi's upcoming #WTFAmI drive sponsored by MapHook.
After nearly a year of shows wherein Michael and Krissi talk about their love of all things "Apple," Geekistry welcomes special guest Zack Williamson (@z_williamson) to the show to discuss Microsoft and Windows 7 (and why they aren't all that bad, either!) In this monster of a show we also discuss current world events, social media, and games - and how they're all a part of our geekistry repertoire.

Eric (Hawkito a.k.a. Skyhawk) joins the show as a special guest in his first "official" interview to talk about his new album "Function" - recently released on iTunes - and about the musical influences and inspiration behind his music geekistry.
On an energized episode of Geekistry, Michael and Krissi geek-it-up over MapHook.com, DC Universe Online, Twitter's subpoena and the WikiLeaks controversy, Google's decision to drop H.264, Verizon and the iPhone, hot new tablets from CES11, and the release of their friend Skyhawk's new album "Function" on iTunes.
A Geekistry mash-up of the end of 2010 and the beginning of 2011 - CES 2011, Apple unveils The App Store for Macs, Mike launches a new site, MMORPGs of 2010 (flops and fans!), Tumblr, Intel Sandybridge chip, Quora, and what we think about streaming vs. disc.
In a sprint to the end of the year we talk about our top 10(ish) picks in Geekistry - conferences, social media, music, movies, tech, gadgets, games, and apps (lots and lots of apps) plus more.
After a furlough from the show, Mike and Krissi geek out about a potpourri of topics from iPhone apps, the upcoming WoW expansion, the death of Seesmic.tv, and how Facebook is like fruitcake - you love to hate it (but you still can't avoid it...) Geekistry will return for one more episode before the holidays and be back on a regular schedule in 2011.
Special guest John Beck from Negative Cutters joins Mike and Krissi for a discussion about movies that originate from books, comics, and games.
Are 'virtual' friendships/relationships as valid as real-life connections? Can 'virtual' relationships (alone) be enough or does humanity require real-life connections to be well-rounded socially? We discuss our first 'virtual' connections (pen pals, CB radio buddies, and BBS-mates) to present friends we've known online and off, including our own friendship and how it evolved through online connections and mutual real-life friends.
Facebook lets its Places service loose, how did they do on security? Using the internet to plan a high school reunion. You know you're a geek when... And we talk about photography.

On episode forty-two we cover life, the universe, and everything. Yes, that pretty much sums it up (an infinite improbability, but we pulled it off!)
While Twitter was down tonight, we put together a show about the death of Google Wave, two silly movie trailers, and Starman's love for astronomy.
After 105 episodes of World of Warcast, 36 episodes of Push My Follow, and 40 episodes of Geekistry, plus dozens of appearances on other shows, Mike talks about his favorite creative geek hobby: Podcasting.
After a few formalities (Facebook, the Lisa Simpson vs. Chelsea Clinton's wedding Twitter trend, and a Warcast update) we talked about early internet information-sharing (Usenet, Gopher, The Well), blogging past and present, and the future of blogging: writing with purpose.
Lots of geek news - Gamers were excited about today's launch of Starcraft 2, but weren't as sure about the announcement by Sony that Everquest II is now FTP. Also, "The Guild" has a new season and music video "Game On". Geekistry's biggest discussion was about the EFF, legalizing "jailbreaking", Apple's response, and what we think.
After a few random formalities about the white iPhone 4 (and the top 10 reasons you don't need it), and other bits we discuss random. Is random really random and what do chaos, infinity, entropy, and lava lamps have to do with it?
Krissi joins us over Skype using 3G while in the car to do this show. We talk about the new Tron Legacy trailer, CGI, computer mice, and problems with my Mac's DNS with my Verizon modem.
Why not have a completely random and unplanned show? That's exactly what episode 35 turned out to be: without show notes we talked about random topics from Tron, video game nostalgia, social media hype, road trips, iPhone apps... and even the meaning of life
In the last show, Mike dared Krissi to wear a pink shirt - and she did! After the reveal we reviewed our weekend of hangin' with friends, playing Cataclysm beta, and the new Geekistry forums, before debating Star Trek: The Original vs. The Next Generation
In celebration of 'Embrace Your Inner Geek Day' we talk about our weekend of Bon Jovi, @GaryVee's Wine Library, and Iron Maiden before discussing the meat of the show - Reality TV Geekistry (with a bit of the Old Spice Guy on Twitter thrown in for flavor).
Famous critic Roger Ebert said, "Video games can never be art," so professional geeks (and video game players) Mike and Krissi have a spirited discussion and ask "Are video games art?"
