Welcome to The B-Side, from The Film Stage. Here we talk about movie stars! Not the movies that made them famous or kept them famous, but the ones they made in between. Today, we go back to where it all started: Tom Cruise! This time we explore the three of the four movies he made in between Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol and Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation. The films are Rock of Ages, Jack Reacher, and Oblivion. To do this, we bring on filmmaker and Gerard Butler enthusiast Ritchie Filippi to discuss these three kinda-sorta B-Sides. Filippi worked on Rock of Ages himself - in the role of travel coordinator - and tells us a couple of tales from the set. Also be sure to check out his film The Eve, now streaming on Roku and Vudu! We dive into Cruise's voice in the rock musical, his stoic tenor in the crime thriller, and his sci-fi stiltedness in the sci-fi almost-epic. Additionally, we marvel at how far director Joseph Kosinski has come from the days of Tron: Legacy, we admire how Jack Reacher has aged, and we get nostalgic about those songs from the ‘80s. Be sure to give us a follow on Twitter and Facebook at @TFSBSide. Also enter our giveaways, get access to our private Slack channel, and support new episodes by becoming a Patreon contributor. We are also now on Spotify and Stitcher. Enjoy!

Golgothan Guastini Special Effects Get M.A.D. with Chris Graves 8-28-2022 Vincent GuastiniThis podcast is uncut and slightly longer than the standard one-hour show we usually get from Chris.Notes By Chris Graves:I'd like to welcome motion picture/television makeup & special effects master, Vincent J. Guastini! I once had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Guastini in 2007, for filmmaker Kevin Smith's official news website, Newsaskew, now defunct, unfortunately.Vincent started his own special make-up effects company at the age of 22, originally in New Jersey and New York for 15 years, and then later in Hollywood for 19 years. Specializing in prosthetics, creature effects, design, and animatronics. His big breakthrough film came in 1991 when asked to take over the prosthetic effects for Michael Mann's 60-million dollar film "The Last of the Mohicans" for 20th Century Fox. After this film, Vincent went on to supervise and design creature effects for various studio and independent films. In 2001 Vincent moved his company to the West Coast and is now one of the top effects & design studios in Hollywood where Vincent lives and is based for the past 20 years.Vincent's practical effects work is mostly known for his 30-plus years in the business of creating the groundbreaking animatronic wings and creature effects in Kevin Smith's film "Dogma" and for Darren Aronofsky's film, "Requiem for a Dream", he designed sculpted and applied prosthetics changing Oscar-nominated actress Ellen Burstyn into a thinning decaying woman. The prosthetic transformation made Vincent an Oscar hopeful that year and is looked at as one of the most convincing transformations in prosthetic makeup history for subtlety and realism. He later worked with Aronofsky again on the film "Aftermath" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger where Vincent's team created silicone bodies for a graphic plane crash.Guastini's other groundbreaking effects include the first use of silicone technology with fire victim effects for Clint Eastwood's "Letters of Iwo Jima" and "Flags of Our Father". Other films include the Bryan Singer-produced horror film hit "The Taking of Deborah Logan". With the help of prosthetic silicone appliances and puppets, Vincent and his team transformed actress Jill Larson into a crazed demonic possessed creature.Film History & Background:V.G.P. Film & TV Projects: Vincent's film and T.V. credits include either as an effects technician, or supervisor and designer are, Dogma, Requiem for a Dream, The Last Of The Mohicans, Letters Of Iwo Jima, Flags of Our Father, Stephen King's Langoliers, Stephen Kings Thinner, Stephen Kings Mr. Mercedes, World War Z, Scary Movie 4, Super Mario Bros The Movie, Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, Child's Play 3, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Virus, Man On The Moon, The Taking of Deborah Logan, V/H/S/ Viral, Cabin Fever Patient Zero, Sushi Girl, The Devil's Carnival 1& 2, Till Death, Silent Night, Night of The Tommyknockers, NIX", Saturday Night Live, Third Watch, Dr. Phil Show, The Howard Stern Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Law and Order, Conan O'Brien, Animal Planet's Lost Tapes, Comedy Central's This is Not Happening, and the Get Shorty T.V. We've had the pleasure of hanging with the man on a few sets, and sharing his love and passion for the cool practical effects that he creates. Vincent's not only a way cool, down-to-earth guy, but he also has been effectively keeping the beauty of real, actual creatures and effects in film, making new strides and creating never-before-seen visuals that just wouldn't look the same in CGI. We applaud him for that. You may recognize some of Guastini's effects in the View Askew flicks Vulgar, Dogma, and Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. He also MIGHT be on board for "Red State" (lips tightened but fingers crossed) and even designed some test stuff for the Green Hornet flick that never was. Formed by Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo in early '90s France after the dissolution of their indie rock band, Daft Punk quickly became one of the biggest forces in electronic music. The Duo was fascinated by the world of samplers and drum machines and inspired by the acid-house of Primal Scream and genre bending of Aphex Twin, the duo began pumping out house hits like "Da Funk" and "Around the World" from their first album Homework. After finding major label success with their first album, they wanted to prove they weren't just a "house" band with their next album the genre defying magnum opus Discovery. The band continued getting bigger and better with iconic sets like their 2006 headline set at Coachella and the 2010 soundtrack to the Tron: Legacy  film. After the massive success of the 2000's the band decided to look further inward toward the album they've always wanted to make with 2013's Random Access Memories which was completed with the help of some of the industries finest musicians. 80s films return! Directed by Joseph Kosinski. Sarah Watt, Jeremy Downing and William Chen discuss Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and TRON: Legacy (2010). We begin by welcoming Sarah back to the podcast, hearing about two films she saw on her travels: The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022) and The Glance of Music AKA Ennio (2021). We begin our discussion by reflecting on our experience watching TRON: Legacy, especially considering the cinema we saw it in, 3D cinema technology and the original TRON (1982). We discuss the incredible score by Daft Punk, comparing it to Mad Max: Fury Road (2015), Inside Out (2015) and Blade Runner (1982), and the impressive production design and visual effects in the film. We then move the conversation to our experiences watching Top Gun: Maverick. We discuss the strengths of Top Gun: Maverick, particularly the strength in storytelling, the cast of characters, the emotional core of the film and the average character played by the brilliant Jennifer Connelly. We highlight the charisma of Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Joh Hamm, as well as the careful inclusion of Van Kilmer. We focus on the religious imagery in both films, especially messiah figures. We also talk about the de-ageing in TRON: Legacy and how it holds up to other films with similar effects.

Il est, en homme d'affaires avisé, conscient que le sport en Europe, c'est un levier pour participer au développement économique ».  John Textor met en avant l'amour du sport et du partage.
