Pastor Lucas Miles continues the Joseph: From Dreams to Dominion series by walking through Genesis 40, highlighting Joseph's faithfulness while imprisoned and how his life foreshadows the work of Christ. Though falsely accused and unjustly confined, Scripture reminds us that “the Lord was with Joseph,” not distantly, but personally and powerfully.Even in the pit, Joseph accepts responsibility, walks in integrity, and carries the presence of God in a way that brings favor and opportunity. His leadership transforms the environment around him, revealing that God's presence is not dependent on circumstance but on obedience and gratitude. When Joseph interprets the dreams of Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, he gives glory to God alone, trusting Him for wisdom and timing, even when Joseph himself is forgotten.Pastor Lucas draws a striking parallel between Joseph in prison with two offenders and Jesus on the cross between two criminals. Where Joseph had to ask to be remembered, Jesus is the One who remembers, offering salvation to the repentant thief and eternal life through His finished work. The message challenges believers to cultivate God's presence through worship, gratitude, and faith, becoming people who are unshaken by offense, fear, or circumstance. Communion closes the service as a reminder of Christ's real presence and the victory secured through His sacrifice.Pastor Lucas' wife, Krissy, concludes with a prophetic prayer, affirming God's faithfulness over decades of ministry and declaring that greater fulfillment still lies ahead. The service ends with an invitation to salvation and prayer, calling the church to say yes to God's purpose and responsibility with courage and trust.Key Themes:God's Presence in the WaitingJoseph as a Foreshadowing of ChristFaithfulness and Integrity in the PitFavor, Responsibility, and LeadershipForgotten by Man, Remembered by GodOffense and Emotional PrisonsThe Power of Gratitude and WorshipReal Presence Through Faith and CommunionTimestamps:2:50 – Series continuation | Joseph: From Dreams to Dominion5:20 – Scripture reading | Genesis 405:50 – Context | Genesis 39 & Joseph's imprisonment9:50 – Leadership in the low place | Favor & responsibility14:20 – The cupbearer & baker16:50 – Theme of offense | Emotional prisons24:50 – Joseph sees they are troubled27:50 – Dreams & divine interpretation35:20 – The significance of three36:50 – Gospel parallel | Luke 2342:20 – From prison to promise44:20 – Forgotten by man | Remembered by God

*Some Additional things God requires of us*# 1. *Act Justly**Micah 6:8* – *“He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly…”*Justice isn't just a courtroom word—it's a lifestyle. God calls us to fairness, honesty, and standing up for the oppressed. Think of *Joseph*, who, though wronged by his brothers and imprisoned unjustly, chose integrity over revenge when he rose to power in Egypt.---#2. *Love Mercy**Micah 6:8* (continued) – *“…to love mercy…”*Mercy is love in action. Jesus showed this when He forgave the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1–11), reminding us that compassion triumphs over condemnation. We're called to extend grace, even when it's undeserved.---# 3. *Walk Humbly with God**Micah 6:8* (continued) – *“…and to walk humbly with your God.”*Humility is recognizing that we need God every step of the way. *Moses*, though a great leader, was called the most humble man on earth (Numbers 12:3). He leaned on God's presence, not his own strength.---# 4. *Love God Wholeheartedly***Matthew 22:37* – *“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”*This is the heartbeat of faith. *David*, a man after God's own heart, danced before the Lord with abandon (2 Samuel 6:14). Loving God means putting Him first—in worship, in decisions, in dreams.---# 5. *Love Your Neighbor**Matthew 22:39* – *“Love your neighbor as yourself.”*This love is practical—feeding the hungry, forgiving offenses, and building bridges. The *Good Samaritan* (Luke 10:25–37) didn't just feel compassion—he acted on it. That's the kind of love God desires.---# 6. *Obey His Commands**John 14:15* – *“If you love Me, keep My commandments.”*Obedience isn't about rules—it's about relationship. *Noah* built an ark when it had never rained. His obedience saved generations. When we trust God enough to obey, we step into His promises.---# 7. *Live by Faith**Hebrews 11:6* – *“Without faith it is impossible to please God…”*Faith is the fuel of the Christian life. *Abraham* left everything familiar, trusting God's promise. Faith means believing even when we can't see the outcome—and that pleases God deeply.---These are not just divine checklists—they're invitations to a deeper, richer walk with God. When we live justly, love deeply, and walk humbly, we reflect the very heart of our Creator.Pst Leke Toba.

Does God NEED evil? That question may sound sacrilegious, but when you think about it, the entire Biblical plan of redemption was predicated on the fall of man and the subsequent plan for salvation (through which God showed us His love in the form of the sacrifice of His Son). If there were no evil, there'd be no sin and no need for salvation. So is “evil” a necessary part of God's plan? The obvious answer is no. In this podcast, I tell you why evil isn't necessary, as well as the most effective way to fight evil (it's probably not what you think…)

Why does an all-powerful God choose to work through imperfect humans to accomplish His purposes? Does God need us to fix the world's problems, or could He simply do it all Himself? Through biblical examples and modern parallels, Kirk makes the case that God intentionally involves His people in His grand narrative, not out of necessity, but to develop our character and bravery. We are reminded that the greatest dramas involve heroes who rise to meet seemingly impossible odds. Listeners are encouraged to shift perspective from pessimism to optimism as current cultural setbacks might actually be setting the stage for one of America's greatest spiritual comebacks. Welcome to Day 2466 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom – Theology Thursday – Does God Need a Co-Signer? The Witness in the Clouds. – I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible. Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2466 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2466 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Today is the twenty-third lesson in our segment, Theology Thursday. Utilizing excerpts from a book titled: I Dare You Not To Bore Me With The Bible written by Hebrew Bible scholar and professor the late Dr. Michael S Heiser, we will invest a couple of years going through the entire Bible, exploring short Biblical lessons that you may not have received in Bible classes or Church. The Bible is a wonderful book. Its pages reveal the epic story of God's redemption of humankind and the long, bitter conflict against evil. Yet it's also a book that seems strange to us. While God's Word was written for us, it wasn't written to us. Today, our lesson is: Does God Need a Co-Signer? The Witness in the Clouds. We all know why co-signing a loan is required. The bank assumes that the person who is being loaned the money may not be able to repay it. Their commitment or ability is in question. In the Bible, God typically swears by His own character when entering a covenant since there is no one above Him who needs to cosign the agreement (Heb 6:13). There is a fascinating exception to this in the book of Psalms. Psalm 89:35-37 repeats the covenant between God and David from 2 Samuel 7 with an addendum at the end that is not found in 2 Samuel 7. I've arranged the verses to show their parallelism, labeling them by letters: A I have sworn by my Holy One; B I will not lie to David. C His descendants shall be forever. C His throne [his dynastic descendants] shall be as the sun before me. B It [David's throne] shall be established forever like the moon, A And a witness in the clouds will be faithful. God swears a covenant oath to David and promises that David's descendants will forever have the right to sit on Jerusalem's throne. This promise is guaranteed by an unidentified witness in the clouds (God's “Holy One”). Why would God need someone to witness an agreement He initiated? Who in heaven (“the clouds”) has that authority? It was common in polytheistic religions of the ancient world to have gods witness the covenant agreements made by other gods.- But there are no other gods in Israel's faith equal to or above the God of Israel. Yet Psalm 89 requires an equal to Yahweh, who will uphold the covenant. Who is this witness in the heavens who will be faithful to the covenant of David's eternal dynasty? Who will make sure God's promise comes to pass and never fails? The New Testament answers these questions in Revelation 1:4-5: John says to the seven churches that are in Asia: Grace and peace to you from the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come; from the sevenfold Spirit[
In this highly anticipated episode, we sit down with Rabbi Chaim Eisen and Rabbi Yitzchok Adlerstein to explore some of the most critical theological questions in Jewish thought. The conversation begins with an in-depth discussion on God's Oneness and Uniqueness, particularly through the lens of the phrase "Ein Od Milvado" ("There is nothing other than Him"), which is often misrepresented nowadays to suggest that all is God and God is all. We then address a recent viral campaign by a popular rabbi claiming that "God needs us." Our guests critically examine the dangers of interpreting Torah in ways that anthropomorphize God. They thereby challenge the controversial (and heretical) position currently popular in some circles that advocates rejecting classic Jewish theology by branding it a supposed attempt to read the Torah through "Greek eyes." The discussion also delves into the neo-Kabbalistic and Hasidic belief in Panentheism—the idea that the universe emerged from God and remains inherently united with His being—and whether this belief crosses into what some traditionalists might consider to be "spiritual polytheism." Rabbi Eisen and Rabbi Adlerstein offer their unique perspectives, presenting different angles on these complex issues. They also tackle the misconception that the human soul is a literal piece of God, and the question of whether the Shekhina represents God's actual presence in the physical realm. Join us for this profound theological reflection on arguably the most fundamental aspect of Judaism: Knowing Hashem (more accurately, what He is not) in order to serve Him properly. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/judaismdemystified/support

Psalm 44 | It's that time of year again when we spend some time studying the Psalms. This week we will be considering Psalm 44. As we've said each summer, this is high holy poetry that functions like... ... Jesus' Spotify Playlist .... Israel's Greatest Hits .... God's Favorite Book of Poetry Many of these Psalms would have been sung corporately as the people gathered for festivals and/or weekly worship and so to sing or study them is to be brought together with God's people past, present, future. We've also said that these songs are recorded prayers of faithful saints and so they teach us how to pray. You might think of the Summer of Psalms as 6 to10 weeks each year that function like an... .... Annual Prayer Lab And we all know that we need help praying. Work, politics, social media all war against our ability to pray, which is to say, commune with God. Hopefully this 2024 prayer lab will help you learn how to talk to God in more honest and healing ways. * CONNECT CARD -- https://siderischurch.com/connectcard * OTHER GOSPEL RESOURCES -- https://siderischurch.com/resources

Before we get to the privilege and blessings of using our Spiritual gifts in the body of the true church of Christ, we look one last time at whether or not God needs our Prayers. Biblically, as we have mentioned before, our actual plumb line or correct code, in the present idiom, is the Holy word of God alone. Sampling from the various and sundry ways God gives us proper perspective, we examine 4 passages today. 1.. Did God need Israel? "…The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, 8 but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt." Deuteronomy 7:6-8 2. Did God need Elijah? "…Yet I will leave 7,000 in Israel, all the knees that have not bowed to Baal and every mouth that has not kissed him…" 1 Kings 19:15-19 3. Does God need what we have? "…I shall take no young bull out of your house, Nor male goats out of your folds. 10 "For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. 11 "I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For the world is Mine, and all it contains…" Psalm 105:7-15 4. Did God need Paul? "…What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice, yes, and I will rejoice…" Philippians 1:15-18 The whole Bible testifies of the self-sufficiency of The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. There was nothing intrinsic to Israel, Elijah, anyone on earth, nor the Apostle Paul which God Almighty, Immortal, Invisible Creator of the universe them, has any need of. One of the principles of the calling of God is expressed by Paul: "For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion; for woe is me if I do not preach the gospel. 17 For if I do this voluntarily, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me." 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 Beloved, we have the great privilege of being called to work for the Kingdom and the spread of the Kingdom. And we will look at the remarkable kindness of our callings, but today: Our so what? God does not need us, yet He has appointed us as ambassadors for Christ, an honor, privilege, and responsibility. Our duties? Use the gifts we have been given with diligence, passion, and great thanksgiving, relying on His word, power, and direction to be servants, being faithful if it is 10, 5, or 1 in number. We are back to the paddock and to look at the question, "Does God need our prayers?" We began with "Truths to Ponder." Discussed our need to "rightly divide the word of God." Today, we examine the dangers of assigning to God any motivation He has not expressly stated in His word. His thoughts are not our thoughts: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways," declares the LORD. 9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9 And for the infinite ignorance we have of all He has not declared to us, we have: "The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law." Deuteronomy 29:29 Of what we do know: He does everything for His own glory.: "Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. 11 "For My own sake, for My own sake, I will act; For how can My name be profaned? And My glory I will not give to another." Isaiah 48:8-11 His love for His creation motivated our redemption. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16 Our So What: Boldly, with confidence and authority, we proclaim all that is plain in the Scriptures. We are to humbly put our confidence in His character in what has not been revealed. His character is perfect, wise, eternal, infinite, all-knowing, all-powerful, and always good. In both, we tell the nations what God has done for our souls. In our previous episode, Paul is still speaking to someone that he refers to as "O man." We established clearly, according to what Paul says about the man - that he was an unsaved Jew. We also looked deeper into the dangers of the abomination of hypocrisy. We will pick up where we left off in verse 1 of chapter 3. ●Today we talk about the "Oracles of God."" ●We will establish who the Oracles of God were given to. ●What is the faith of God? ●Does God need to have faith? ●What is the definition of faith? ●How are faith and hope connected? ●Does God need hope? IN THIS SERIES: ●We will see who Paul was talking to and why. ●Why Paul's mention of the "day of wrath" in Romans 2 makes perfect sense in the context. ●We examine who is being spoken about regarding the "remission of sins." ●Look at some things that Paul struggled with in the flesh concerning the law and why he's even talking about the law in the first place. ●Identify where the false doctrine of Sonship Edification puts its roots in Romans 8. ●Look at some verses that Universalists use to support their false "salvation of all" claim. ●Find out what the "faith of Christ" is and what it isn't. ●We will see whether or not Gentiles are "grafted into" that Olive Tree in Chapter 11. ●Go over what we are to be "fully persuaded in our own minds" about when we go through our instructions for living life after salvation. ●Learn more about how and why Gentiles were never under the law. ●Look at how prayer works and how it doesn't work today. ●Look at today's practical application compared to how Paul addresses the Jews in the flesh in this letter. ●Go over the fact that no one outside of Paul's "dispensation of grace" enjoyed eternal security, nor were they saved by grace through faith ALONE, without works. ●Find out the who, how, and why of "marking" others. ●And we'll tie it all up with the Revelation of the Mystery which was kept secret since the world began.

We are again back in the paddock, looking at the real-time issue of God's "need" for us. For the first 6:59 of this episode, we celebrate our increased dialogue and our first listener donations. After the 6:59 minutes of celebration, we begin to lay the groundwork in our Biblical evidence that God does not "need" our prayers. Still, He gives us (and rewards us) the eternal, joyful privilege of service in His kingdom. We begin with our shared mandate of "rightly dividing the word of God." Paul tells us: "Remind them of these things, and solemnly charge them in the presence of God not to wrangle about words, which is useless, and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:14-15 Peter agrees: "And so we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts. 20 But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation, 21 for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." Our So What? We are called to follow the noble Bereans' example, diligently study the word of God, and be discerning as we hear or read what teachers tell us. Next time we will see, Biblically, God tells us He does not "need" us. "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more." Full Question: I was recently in a conversation with a group of guys about answered prayers. One guy shared how years ago a group of them traveled to a foreign country on a mission trip and when they got there, they discovered that there was a need to build a house for orphan children. He said that night they all prayed about it and the next morning they got news that someone had offered to match up $50K in donation. He said that was confirmation of answered prayer. Was God waiting for that group of people to pray before He put in on the heart of another guy to donate a match? If no one prayed would the orphans still need a home? If God knew before the foundations of the earth who would be saved how does prayer affect those who we pray for to be saved? To read the show notes, click here. When we are struggling spiritually or experiencing some physical suffering we can find ourselves asking the question; "Is God listening to my prayer?" Since he already knows what we need before we even ask him, should we just trust in his providence? Is it an either or? Today, Fr Mike encourages us with examples from scripture to highlight that we ought to both pray for what we need as well as trust that God hears our prayers and will respond according to his good will and pleasure.
