The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) shared some key tips, especially when you are called. First, once you determine a scam call, remain calm. Remember, government agencies will not call you on the phone. Next, do not give out personal information, click links, or download anything. Phone numbers included on emails or texts are not going to the real company or agency. Also, only scammers will ask for cash, crypto currency, or gift cards. These are not traceable. Sometimes those goals or achievements are the downfalls the parent had growing up, and not the kids focus or ability. Some parents don't know when to back off and let their kids strive for what they want. It's a difficulty balancing act. Sacrifices are made by parents to give their kids as much as possible. These are items noted specifically by the Amazon message: 1. Trust Amazon-owned channels. Always go through the Amazon mobile app or website when seeking customer service, tech support, or when looking to make changes to your account. 2. Be wary of false urgency. Scammers may try to create a sense of urgency to persuade you to do what they're asking. Be wary any time someone tries to convince you that you must act now. 3. Never pay over the phone. Amazon will never ask you to provide payment information, including gift cards (or “verification cards,” as some scammers call them) for products or services over the phone. 4. Verify links first. LFMK - Life advice

Today's episode came from random people around the world answering the question, "What life advice do people not take seriously enough?" There were lots of responses, and not all of them were good. I liked a good number of them. Some were repeated or similar. Here are some of the ones I thought were a good representation. Things like, "treat others the way you want to be treated", "be yourself", and "make time for people you love". When listening to advice, think about who is advising you, determine if the advice is from their heart or more self-serving, and then decide whether or not to follow their advice. I think the advice in this episode is fairly solid. Only you can make the decision. Thank you for listening. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kevin-hannegan/support

"10 Unspoken Rules That Everyone Should Know About In Life". You will here about "unspoken rules" from time to time. There are a bunch that many of us might describe as courtesies or common decencies. As you listen through this episode, think about how you handle yourself. Besides not doing these things, notice if others break these rules. Things like keeping your shoes and socks on while traveling should be a norm we all follow. An airplane or train is not your home, no matter how long the trip takes. If you are in a group, and someone comes up and starts talking to you, check to see if they are okay. These and a few other things are unspoken rules. Thanks for listening. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kevin-hannegan/support

Who are the leaders around you, in school, in the community, or on the field? We've talked about leadership in other episodes, but how does someone become a leader? Leadership skills are learned. Articles "How do you develop youth leadership skills?" was one reference. The other was " 8 tips to teach your teen to be a leader, not a follower". The adults need to set the initial example for kids. Once a kid is around good role-models, then the work of building skills needs to happen. Such things as dealing with adversity, collaboration, negotiation, building up weaknesses, etc. are all part of the life training. It's important to remember, leaders give vision, listen, and are influential. Thanks for listening. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kevin-hannegan/support

Believe in yourself. If you have a goal, believe you can achieve it. If you hurt or hurt someone, today is a new day for you to believe in the power or healing or forgiveness. You can be better. If you need help, ask someone. Be you. Your gut will tell you if you are going down the wrong path. If you don't attain your goals, you still gained experience and strength in the journey. "Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." --Dale Carnegie "To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment." --Ralph Waldo Emerson --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/kevin-hannegan/support

Quora.com allows people to ask questions and be answered by random advice givers. A question popped up that caught my interest, and had some good responses. The question was "What is the single most effective piece of financial advice you've ever received?" This episode shares a handful of responses from people who shared their advice. Dave Ramsey stated, “Most millionaires don't drive flashy cars. When people don't waste money to LOOK wealthy, they have money to actually BECOME wealthy.” Talk with your investment person or banker, and you might just hear some of these or similar answers during your conversation.
