Click here now to access the tool > Rethinking Sales: Adding More Heart and Less Hustle What if selling your services could feel as natural as helping a friend—without the scripts, the struggle, or trying to be someone you're not? In this episode of the podcast, I'm joined by Suman Randhawa, author of More Heart, Less Hustle. Suman brings decades of sales expertise and a refreshingly human approach to growing your business. We explore how selling can feel like a natural extension of your values, especially if you're introverted, quietly ambitious, or simply want your business to feel more ‘you'. If you're tired of sales advice that asks you to shout louder, hustle harder, or squeeze yourself into someone else's template, this conversation will feel like a soft Ugg slipper—familiar, grounding, and quietly powerful Prefer to WATCH instead of read? Here's the video version of this episode “Sales is not something separate to us. It's simply about making it easier for someone to find a solution to their desire or problem.” – Suman Randhawa Sales with Heart: Why More Hustle Isn't the Answer Many of us have grown up with the myth that to sell well, we need to be someone we're not. But as Suman shares, her three decades in advertising, luxury retail, and coaching have shown that real sales success comes from relationships rooted in trust, warmth, and consistency. What happens when you let go of the “shoulds”, the ‘seven doors', the ‘five rules' or the ‘nine steps' everyone swears by? You start creating your own way, one that feels aligned with who you are and how you naturally connect. Selling Without Being Loud If you shudder at the idea of aggressive scripts or cookie-cutter templates, you're not alone. Suman's journey reveals that there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach, and that quiet, reflective entrepreneurs can thrive when they anchor their sales process in empathy, clarity, and real connection. “Sales done badly is what we all try to avoid. But sales done well doesn't feel like selling at all—it feels like helping.” - Suman Randhawa Finding Your Authentic Sales Voice How do you become magnetic to your dream clients, without ever feeling manipulative or inauthentic? It starts with your authentic sales voice: Speaking with sincerity, not scripts. Sharing what you stand for, clearly and consistently. Letting your values do the heavy lifting, rather than relying on hustle. This is where “Value Whispering” comes alive: when you communicate your value so clearly and kindly, others start repeating your message for you. It's the opposite of chasing; it's about quietly becoming the obvious choice for those you're here to serve. How Do You Know Which Sales Advice to Trust? If you've ever received advice from “experts” that didn't sit right with you, know that you don't have to listen and you can choose an approach that feels more you. Suman offers a practical litmus test to help you determine which advice is right for you: Do you trust the source, and do they understand your style? Is your resistance based on fear, or is it a sign this advice isn't aligned with your values? Often, the best way forward is to listen for resonance, not volume. When you trust your instincts, sales becomes less about overcoming objections, and more about opening doors for the right people. Gentle Outreach and Permission-Based Selling If you do reach out to potential clients, think of it as starting a conversation not a pitch. Simple, genuine curiosity goes further than any script. And when it's time to share your offer, always seek permission. This creates a sense of partnership, not pressure. Practical Tips for Selling Network in Your Own Way: Social media is a tool, not a rule. Find what works for you, whether that's online groups, in-person events, or close-knit circles. Repetition Builds Recognition: Your dream clients spend most of their time not thinking about you—so repeat your core message until it becomes second nature (to you and to them). Self-Belief is Magnetic: When you believe in your offer and show up with genuine intent, clients sense that energy—and are far more likely to say yes. Introverts: Play to Your Strengths: Listening, thoughtful questions, and structure are secret sales superpowers. DM Done Right: Reach out with genuine curiosity, not a pitch. Seek connection, not conversion. Final Thought to Reflect On? What would change for you if you saw sales as an act of service, not a performance? How might your business grow if you led with more heart and less hustle, and let your authentic voice be enough? "I think one of the biggest things to convey to anybody who wants to start a business is know what you're good at, know what you like, and know what you're not good at, and then outsource that. Because that's going to help get the business to where you wanna go." —Arielle Moody Ever wonder if you're settling for “good enough” when you could be living—and choosing—so much better? If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the choices you make for your body, your business, or your family, this episode is your permission slip to trust your gut, question the status quo, and demand more from what you put on your skin and into your life. Arielle Moody, a seasoned beauty industry expert and co-founder of Mama Sol, turned her personal quest for safe, effective products into a thriving business that puts wellness and integrity first. Her journey from industry insider to innovative entrepreneur brings a fresh, no-nonsense perspective on why what's inside—both products and people—matters most. Hit play for a candid look at how intentional living, ingredient transparency, self-belief, and values-driven choices shape everything from entrepreneurship and family business to work-life balance, clinical testing, and creating wellness products that truly multitask. Meet Arielle: While pregnant with her first child, shocked by how many toxic ingredients were lurking in everyday products, and after trying dozens of natural mineral sunscreens, Arielle was determined to create one that 1) didn't make her immediately want to wash her face, and 2) didn't leave a white cast on her skin. Oh, and it needed to be something she looked forward to using daily. No biggie. As Mama Sol's product development whisperer, Arielle has been immersed in the beauty industry her entire adult life. Starting as a beauty sales trainer for Smashbox, Dr. Perricone, and Bite Beauty, then rising to become the head of product development for Skinn Cosmetics and, most recently, the head of sales for a leading cosmetics packaging and formulation company, she's always known one thing—that she would one day create her own product, something truly different that had never been seen before. In this episode of The Creative Genius Podcast (the finale for Season 4!) Kate sits down with Albert Bramante — talent agent, psychologist, and author — to explore why so many creatives hold themselves back, how to reframe rejection, why fear isn't the enemy, and how to trust yourself enough to rewrite your own script. From Kate: Today I'm bringing you a conversation that feels especially alive and needed right now. I sat down with Albert Bramante — a rare soul who bridges the world of psychology and the performing arts. For over two decades he's walked alongside actors, dancers, and other artists as both a talent agent and a guide through the invisible terrain of mindset, fear, self-doubt, and that sneaky self-sabotage we all bump up against when we dare to put our true selves out in the world. In this conversation, Albert opens up about how rejection isn't really rejection, how fear can be a strange protector, and how staying open to the unknown — in our art, our work, our relationships — can free us to live bigger, truer lives.I hope as you listen you feel a soft invitation to loosen your own grip a little, to see where you might be clinging too tightly to other people's scripts for you — and maybe, just maybe, to let yourself play again.Highlights:Why rejection is rarely personalHow our childhood shapes creative courageWhat fear of success really meansThe power of playing instead of performingReal stories about people pleasing, burnout, and letting go
On this episode of the Heartland Multifamily Show, I'm talking about Festo #21: You are never as good as you think you are. You are never as bad as you think you are. And neither are they. I sit down with Isaiah Garman to hash out what I mean by that. In short, we all have flaws and we all have strengths. It's a simple message, but one that has a lot of meaning. Watch this episode to hear our conversation as we explain what it means in detail.
What if you could believe in yourself, not just on the sunny days, but also when life feels uncertain? In today's episode, we're diving into the power of self-belief and how to cultivate it, no matter what's happening around you. It's easy to feel confident when everything is going well, but what happens when the tide turns? Can you maintain belief in yourself during the stormy times? Self-belief built solely on external praise or past achievements is fragile. It's like building a sandcastle on the shore — it might stand tall for a moment, but the next wave can knock it down. True self-belief is about developing resilience, so no matter the conditions, you can stand firm. In this episode, I'll show you how to strengthen your belief in yourself, even when life feels unpredictable or challenging. The Dad Edge Podcast (formerly The Good Dad Project Podcast)
Have you ever asked yourself: How do I balance teaching my kids to be tough with also being emotionally available for them? Am I open with my children about my own fears or vulnerabilities, or do I try to hide them? Have I ever allowed my pride to get in the way of seeking help for my kids? Today, Larry Hagner sits down with Super Bowl champion Ricky Watters to explore a legacy that transcends the football field. Ricky—a five-time Pro Bowler and one of the NFL's most dynamic running backs of the 90s—opens up about his journey from being adopted as a baby in Harrisburg's inner city to building his own family's legacy as a father, mentor, and now, author. Ricky shares how his parents, especially his father—a tough yet deeply loving Korean War veteran—shaped him with wisdom, resilience, and unwavering belief. Even though his father's injuries kept him from running drills, he made sure Ricky was always supported, teaching him critical lessons in confidence, leadership, and reading people. Larry and Ricky dive deep into stories about overcoming adversity, finishing what you start, and stepping out of comfort zones. Beyond football, Ricky reveals the heartwarming story of adopting his youngest son, Shane, from Korea, and the deep impact that decision had on their entire family. Whether you're leading a team, raising kids, or simply striving to become a better man, this conversation is filled with wisdom and practical tools to help you live with intention and purpose. Get ready for a powerful, unforgettable episode that will inspire you to lead with love, leave a legacy, and—most importantly—never quit. Become the best husband you can: https://bit.ly/deamarriageyoutube In this vital conversation, we dig into: The Power of Example: Ricky shares the profound influence his adoptive father had on him—an injured Korean War vet who, despite physical limitations, found ways to teach essential life lessons through other men in the community. The takeaway? You don't need to be perfect to be present. “He taught me how to fight, how to lead, and how to read a room, and most of all, how to believe in myself.” Breaking the Mold of Fatherhood: While many men were taught to mask their fears, Ricky's dad encouraged open conversations—even about being scared. The result? A relationship built on trust, honesty, and emotional strength. “If I was scared, I could talk to my dad. I could be real with him.” The Legacy Continues: Ricky opens up about adopting his youngest son, Shane, from Korea—a full-circle moment born from his own adoption story. He and his wife's journey shows the beauty and challenge of choosing family, and how nurturing love can transform lives. Life Lessons from Sports (And Beyond): From backyard football to the Super Bowl, Ricky reveals that greatness is about more than athletic talent—it's about grit, finishing what you start, and lifting up others along the way. This episode goes far beyond football, exploring the valuable lessons passed on from Ricky's father, the challenges of growing up and raising resilient children, and the importance of finishing what you start. Here's what research and observation highlight about: Evidence suggests that 82% of adults believe their parenting style was influenced by the way they were raised. Studies show that roughly 95% of adopted children develop secure attachments with their adoptive families. Research estimates that 80% of internationally adopted children benefit from open conversations about their adoption story. www.thedadedge.com/535 www.thedadedge.com/alliance https://thedadedge.com/bark catwatters.com rickywatters.com @rickywatters @officialrickywatters @rickywatters https://www.linkedin.com/in/rickywatters/

Steve and I talk about a recent experience where I was activated by something in the media. A majorly messed up story that stirred old wounds and brought up big emotion. It wasn't easy. I felt tender, raw, and flat. And it would've been so easy for Steve to pull away or take it personally but instead he stayed close, even when it wasn't comfortable. He loved me through it by holding space for me to be exactly where I was.We speak openly about what that looked like for both of us and how being in different headspaces doesn't have to mean disconnection, if we're willing to communicate from truth and not reactivity.I also share how I told my family: “I'm not okay right now, but I will be. This isn't about you. I'm just in something.” Because I've learned that shutting down or punishing the people I love because I'm in pain only adds more layers to work through. And Steve reflects on how much that honest communication helped him stay connected to me, instead of trying to guess what was wrong or getting defensive. We talk about how far we've come from those reactive “What's up your ass?” kind of moments and how we now use well-framed conversations to navigate tough emotional terrain with love and respect. If you're in a relationship or in a family where one person's heaviness can easily pull the whole ship off course, this episode is for you. It's about holding space, taking responsibility and learning how to stay connected even when you're not in the same headspace.Buy my book, Authentic - coming home to your true self - AUS, EUR, USAJoin Authentic The Program - registrations open nowCoach with me 1:1 - Book a 20-minute call nowThe Good Life - sign up nowFree Wheel of Life Assessment - take the test nowWrite into us - let us know what you want to hearwww.katjohn.com.auSupport the show
