Recently a video from Allie Beth Stuckey surfaced in my feed. She is someone I generally respect. In fact, I subscribe to her channel. But, this particular video caught my eye. It is a response to the so-called “prosperity gospel” and a critique of Joel Osteen. According to Allie, this is a false gospel from hell and if you believe it you will never find Christ. While it is popular to take a strong counterpoint and leverage the divisiveness it creates to build and establish an audience (Joel does this on one end of the spectrum and Allie does it on the other) - The Christian faith is much more nuanced. The bible must be useful for the rich Christian in Dallas and Christians in China who may face jail time for their beliefs. As a result, God uses a combination of varying emphasis and, through the Holy Spirit, personal conviction to guide His people in their Christian walk. For brevity and clarity, I edited Allie's video down. I believe I kept the strength of her original argument. However, I recommend everyone having a look at the full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXsMzzRjjEw

Have you ever asked questions like: What is the purpose of Christianity? Why do millions of children die every year and God does nothing about it? And, Why a Good God would create a world where some members of some societies will never knows Jesus and, in theory, go to hell? Maybe you have moved cross country. Perhaps, it was for a job or to go off to school. Yet, this is the plight of start-up church Pastors everywhere. These men and women have a dream to reach and love people for Jesus. Today we interview one such pastor, Will Riddle. We discuss, what possessed this South Carolina farm boy, to move to Colorado and start Gateway City Church.
Have you ever had a Hero? Growing up I never idolize sports heroes or WWF wrestlers like all my friends. I was more of a Gene Roddenberry and Walt Disney guy. They created worlds both imaginary and physical; wolds were there were happy endings and worlds that showcased the best of humanity They were all I had until I started attending Flat Irons Community Church and I discovered a man named Jim Burgen. As the Lead Pastor, he taught me what Christian masculinity could look like. He even celebrated it. He taught me the healing power that a band of brother and brutal honesty could bring. He and his vision is one of the reasons 1720 exist. But with high pedestals come long falls and this week my hero took a tumble. Today we will examine how a strong vision can impact its followers and what it looks like when the power behind the vision falls. I hope you get something out of it.

I was recently at dinner with a friend and he began to discuss the concept of Discipleship with me… and I bristled a bit… perhaps it was because the word carried so much historical weight… I have had bad experiences where the church used the concept of discipleship to fill their coffers and ranks. But after much study and prayer, I can assure you discipleship means something different. It has the power to transform your life. It is the key to unlocking your dreams and living a life of abundance. In this episode we will explore: * What it means to be a disciple? * What does religion get wrong about discipleship? * Why would we want to be a disciple? When we are done, I think you will be more excited about this concept than you ever have been. I know I was!
Putting the necessity effect to work for you by developing mental toughness. This is an important episode because it teaches you how to transform your wants into necessities. As the great philosophers, the Rolling Stones, noted; you can't always get what you want but you get what you need. The ability to transform wants into needs on command will change your life.
In episode 14 explore how "The Necessity Effect" will transform your mental game and guarantee your success! The necessity effect can apply to all aspects of the Formula, but is most at home in the Riches Step.

To achieve your big dream (riches), the fourth step in the formula, you may have to change how you measure success and who you are listening to! This week we explore free will, where you derive your direction from, and how that can impact your joy as you approach your Big Dream. As we chase after our big dream, we can sometimes miss out on the joys of life. In this episode we explore who you are listening to and how to leverage your free will to steal your joy back. Making the journey fulfilling almost guarantees we arrive at our destination.
To access abundance, the third step in the formula, you may have to dismantle some of the beliefs that have seeped into your understanding of God and what is possible. For most, our faith is not “in God” but it is in our “understanding of God”. We are not open to the possibilities of a limitless and timeless God. We don't “ask” and we don't “seek” because we have already answered the question with “impossible”. But, if we want to become Next-Level-Christians we have to embrace the impossible… In this episode we examine how the science we were taught in school, the science that disproved the existence of a creator, has evolved. The latest science points to the existence of something. It opens the door to something that Christians have always know. This is not reality. This is “a reality” God has created for us. But underneath this reality, is God. He operates outside of time and space and as such can literally move mountains. We are in communication with this creator through he mystery of prayer and we can, in partnership with God, literally defy the logical. With him all things are possible… and that really means ALL THINGS. In this episode we chat about the responses from our last Podcast "The Riches Recipe". It was a somewhat divisive podcast. We also talk about how scarcity pops up in our daily lives and what we can do about it. Last episode was the capstone for what we are calling the “Formula” defined as: Forgiveness precedes Freedom precedes Abundance precedes Riches. Last week we covered Riches. The topic of money is a tough one. Many Christians believe that we are called to poverty. That because Jesus was "poor" we are called to be like him. We explore why this is just not true. We also explore the idea that there are hidden secrets in the bible and if a secret decoder ring is needed to find them. Are these secrets open to anyone? Can we discover the mystery that is Christ without the help of priest, numerologies or mystic? In closing we discuss how a scarcity mindset can creep into everyday interactions and techniques to overcome this mindset. God did not intend for us to live in scarcity, to miss out on our destiny because we are afraid. He sent his son to liberate us from this mindset, but the devil is a trickster. Listen to find out how you can fight back!
