February 2023 episode with Camille Tagle CoFounder+ Creative Director of FAB SCRAP a nonprofit in NYC Re-thinking textile waste! Speaker Bio: Camille Tagle brings her deep history in the world of design and fashion to her work as Creative Director of FABSCRAP. After graduating from UCLA with a degree in Art History, Tagle studied design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She then spent her early career as an eveningwear designer for renowned New York City design houses, with creations that sold in major retailers and graced the red carpet. It was through her work as a designer that Tagle witnessed just how much fabric, especially reusable yardage, went to landfill after each collection. Moved by the issue and concerned about the environmental impact, she created her own reuse system to get these fabrics into the hands of those who could use them. Tagle joined forces with FABSCRAP in 2017, developing new and creative outlets for fabric redistribution and solidifying FABSCRAP as an acclaimed materials resource. Tagle is also especially passionate about continuing to strengthen FABSCRAP's relationships with schools throughout the country, believing that sustainability must become a key component in the education of today's designers to better shape tomorrow's design practices. Bout the brand: FABSCRAP is a charitable, non-profit organization with 501(c)3 designation. Rethinking textile waste! Providing pickup of unwanted fabric from businesses and engaging local creative communities in reuse. They are based in NYC + Philadelphia. Your contributions are tax-deductible and support the reduction of fabric waste from the fashion and design industries in New York City. Ashleigh Morgan President of Recycle2Riches.org and host of Talk About It Tuesday podcast. Questions and Answers from our Guests: (the answers below are a quick recap of the speakers responses to the questions) From Louis Yuen Q: What does education of the youth on the climate crises means to you? A: It is a heavy topic and Louis tries to turn this climate crises topic into a light and easy topic to consume. Q: What is Infinity Eight Productions doing to bring transparency to sustainability through communication? A: Louis educates himself first on any topic and then works on educating others. The most important thing for him is to find the core of the topic and how he will translate the overall topic. Expressing all the different sectors of one topic is very important for Louis as well. From Tai Ford Q: How does creating transparency in the fashion industry led itself to help the climate crises? A: Fashion is one of the oldest and dirtiest industries. Lost of deferent elements and most of them are not good for the environment. Once you have the accountability of the elements that make up the fashion industry you can start to create action and help individual supply changes. One survey says 9 out of 10 fashion consumers care about sustainable fashion and 65% of consumers want to know the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) of an organization they are buying from. Q: What is Retraced doing to bring transparency to sustainability through communication? A: They work with fashion brands to learn the challenges of their CSR, map out their supply change and help brands to get over the mountain of transparency. When you know the supply chain as a brand owner, you can really start measuring yourself as a brand and out your sustainable development goals are developing overtime. You have all your internal communication all in one place and gain trust with your customers. Thanks for watching and listing, to the July espied of Talk about it Tuesday.
