Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter would like to expand the capacity of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.But Carter and the Rebels aren't stopping there. The university last week issued a request for proposal for a mixed-use development around the stadium similar in concept to The Battery Atlanta. The Battery surrounds Truist Park, the home of MLB's Atlanta Braves. The Ole Miss iteration would feature retail, restaurants, office space, a hotel and even condos. Pete Golding has had his hands full the last two weeks.Golding took over for Lane Kiffin, who left for LSU. As a result, he's been tasked with preparing Ole Miss for the College Football Playoff, all while recruiting, building out his staff and preparing for the transfer portal opening in January. Golding will eventually have to find long-term solutions for wide receivers coach, tight ends coach, linebackers coach and likely running backs coach — assuming Kevin Smith, as expected, leaves following the playoff run. Bradley Sowell, though, agrees with Golding's approach, which is focusing exclusively on the title run.
