In this special episode of The Right Intention, its a celebration of the 88th birthday of Wowza, who is a transformative figure in expressive arts therapy and holistic wellness, who has spent over six decades helping people embrace self-expression and healing.Wowza embodies a spirit of agelessness and vitality, which she attributes to connecting with her "larger self" or "the beloved," an inner source of strength that transcends time and societal expectations.Reflecting on her journey, Wowza shares how she transformed a challenging childhood marked by bullying and isolation into a life of beauty and resilience. Embracing her unique path led her to win Miss Florida and become a runner-up in the Miss America pageant. By the time she reached the Miss America stage, she began to feel the limitations of external validation. When she blanked during a final question, she knew her calling was beyond pageants and moved to New York to pursue acting. In New York, Wowza trained at the Actors Studio under Lee Strasberg, who taught her to embrace every role authentically, integrating light and shadow. This foundation inspired her to create expressive arts therapy, a method allowing people to explore their “social roles” as characters, releasing limiting beliefs and accessing their true essence.Today, Wowza remains a beacon of unity, founding the "Church of Wow" to encourage people to see each other as living art. Her mantra, "wow," reflects wonder without judgment. In relationships, she advocates for balancing masculine and feminine energies, empowering individuals to embody their authentic selves for deeper, harmonious connections. One of her signature practices, “curtain up, curtain down,” helps people briefly embody and release emotions, fostering mindful self-awareness. In her book, The Sacred Actor: Igniting the Performance Art of Living, she invites readers to view life as a divine play, where each role brings meaning within a larger, universal flow. Her "great hum" practice—a simple daily humming—connects people to the vibration of life, grounding them in unity and love.As Todd and Wowza close, they reflect on love as a universal, transformative force. Wowza encourages listeners to embrace every part of themselves, live authentically, and connect with others from the heart. Her journey and wisdom remind us that by living from this larger self, we find freedom and harmony.Connect with Todd Tononi:Follow Todd on Instagram: @ToddTononiSubscribe to The Right Intentions for more thought-provoking conversations and insights into leadership, personal growth, and living with purpose.Connect with Wowza: https://www.amazon.com/Sacred-Actor-Igniting-Performance-Living/dp/B0D2P73WJ8 Hosted on Acast. What We Discuss In This Episode: Angela shares how she struggled with body image and unhealthy habits in her youth, leading to an eating disorder and health issues. Through trial and error, she eventually found her passion for fitness and bodybuilding, transforming her physique and mindset. This journey inspired her to become a health coach to help other women achieve their fitness goals. Angela explains why maintaining and building healthy muscle tissue is crucial for women, especially as they go through hormonal changes in midlife and menopause. Muscle helps regulate metabolism, balance hormones, strengthen bones, and improve cognitive function. She emphasizes that the goal is not to "bulk up" but to develop a strong, lean physique. Angela recommends that women aim for 30 grams of protein per meal, and around 1 gram of protein per pound of ideal body weight per day. She discusses the differences between plant-based and animal-based proteins and suggests using protein shakes as a convenient way to meet protein needs, especially for vegetarians/vegans. Angela advises a combination of strength training and high-intensity interval training, even if just for 20-30 minutes a day. She emphasizes the importance of proper form and gradually increasing the intensity and weight. She also stresses the value of consistency and seeking support when needed. I am your host and coach, Allison Walsh.[INTRODUCTION]Hello, hello! I am beyond blown away that it is officially launch week for "She Believed She Could," the beautiful book baby that I have been working on for so long. I could not be more grateful for this entire experience, and I wanted to catch you up on everything going on behind the scenes. The last few weeks have been full, from recording the audiobook to media opportunities and speaking at the Women's Conference of Florida. Now it's launch week, and I've been busy tidying up last-minute details, preparing for this exciting week. It's crucial to be prepared for anything when you're working on something significant.[GRATITUDE]I want to express my gratitude for your support throughout this process. Hearing from you and learning about your goals and dreams has been incredible. Even if writing a book isn't your goal, I hope you take a chance to bet on yourself. Trust yourself to go after what you want, even if it's unfamiliar. You are smart and resilient, and you don't have to navigate your journey alone.[FOUNDATION AND MISSION]Before I share more about the book, I want to highlight the She Believed Foundation. It's a 501(c)(3) nonprofit I started to increase access to personal and professional development opportunities. 100% of the book's proceeds go directly to the foundation. We also offer options for sponsoring books to ensure they reach libraries, schools, or nonprofits. Expanding the reach and mission of this book and nonprofit has been incredibly fulfilling.[BOOK HIGHLIGHTS]Now, let me share a glimpse of what's inside the book. It's divided into three sections. Part one is "Show Up," and it begins with Chapter One: "Optimize Your Potential – You've Already Got What It Takes." This chapter reminds you that your potential is within you and introduces positive psychology concepts.Chapter Two: "Own It – Embrace Who You Are" emphasizes understanding your strengths and aligning them with your passions. It includes stories from my own experiences, including my business partnership with Jen.Chapter Three: "Letting Go to Grow – Releasing What Holds You Back" talks about making bold life changes and taking ownership of your future. I share my personal experience of breaking off an engagement and how it shaped my path.[CONFIDENCE AND SELF-CARE]Part two is "Shine Bright." Chapter Four: "Master Your Mindset – Confidence Is Your Key to Success" dives into mastering your mindset and overcoming imposter syndrome. I share my journey as Miss Florida and how I handled criticism.Chapter Five: "A Checkup from the Neck Up – Take Care of Yourself" highlights the importance of mental and physical health. It discusses the Health Quadra and the role it plays in a fulfilled life.Chapter Six: "Relationships Matter – It Takes a Village" emphasizes the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people, mentorship, and investing in personal and professional development.[ACHIEVE ABUNDANT SUCCESS]Part three is "Achieve Abundant Success." Chapter Seven: "Get Strategic – Set and Achieve Meaningful Goals" provides a framework for setting and achieving goals. It encourages you to start now and take consistent action.Chapter Eight: "Your Success Routine – Master Your Time Management Skills" reveals how to manage your time effectively. I share my morning routine and structuring success for thriving, not just getting by.Chapter Nine: "Building Your Brand – Your Story Is Your Superpower" delves into personal branding and making your message your mission. It provides valuable insights and frameworks for building your brand.Chapter Ten: "Embrace Your Evolution – When to Lean into New Opportunity" shares a transformative experience that led to a significant life change. It introduces the "Men for More" framework to help you evaluate where you are and where you want to be.[GRATITUDE AND COMMUNITY]I'm grateful for the endorsements from individuals I've admired for decades, like John Gordon, Laura Rutledge, Jeb Blount, Dorie Clark, Dr. Anita Bouchard, and JJ Virgin. These endorsements mean the world to me.I also want to acknowledge everyone who has been part of my journey. Every person has shaped me, motivated me, and inspired me. I'm grateful for the messy and magical moments, the ups and downs, and everything in between.[CONCLUSION]Thank you for being part of this community, and thank you for believing in me. I believe in you 1,000%, and my hope is that you do too. Keep being proud of yourself, keep putting one foot in front of the other, and remember, you already have what it takes.[TUNE IN]Stay tuned for more exciting content and updates. Imagine a world where difference is not only accepted, but celebrated. Today, I had the opportunity to sit down with Rachel Barcellona, an incredible woman who was diagnosed with autism at the age of three. We explored the unique challenges and triumphs of her journey, from a non-speaking child to a student at Juilliard, discussing how early detection and understanding can change lives. In our conversation, we delve into the realm of rebellion in children with autism, viewing it not as a sign of disobedience but as a cry for understanding. I shared my personal experiences of self-discovery, including the liberation of being authentically myself and the lessons I'm teaching my daughter about growing older. As we navigate the complex intersections of identity and society, we stress the importance of empathy, acceptance, and realizing that the autism spectrum is not limited by gender or sexuality. And if you thought pageantry was all about glitz and glam, Rachel gives us a glimpse into how it's much more than that. She started at five, and since then, it has served as a platform for her to advocate for change. Not only that, but she has also collaborated on a clothing line, penned an upcoming book, and been part of some exciting projects, all of which serve as an inspiration for many. We end on a positive note, highlighting how social media and technology have been instrumental in her journey, enabling her to connect with people around the globe and amplify her message. For a heartwarming tale of strength, perseverance, and individuality, this is one conversation you wouldn't want to miss.Support the show

That personal development mission that is just at my core of continuing to evolve into that complete person you're intended to be. And as a result, I've had the chance to build an incredible team. My team is my heart. I have enjoyed not only working alongside them, but also watching their evolution and pushing them to grow.7:45 - One perfect example is we launched an educational program called Real Talk back in 2016. And I got to really marry my two worlds. For those that don't know, I'm a former Miss Florida. I have absolutely loved being involved with the Miss America organization. And I saw an opportunity to have Miss Florida and potentially Miss America service spokesperson for Real Talk and the prevention of teen drug abuse and misuse. And so we were able to do something in tandem with the Miss America organization. We have Miss Florida who has been an ambassador for us for six years.10:14 - Our team is rooted in strengths-based coaching. We use Gallup's StrengthsFinder to help clients identify their strengths, because people will naturally gravitate towards “I need to fix my weaknesses”, or “I'm not good at this”. Your strengths are where you should stay in play.11:32 - A huge part of what's made me successful is the level of self-awareness and being able to articulate when I see a potential in something and having a plan to execute it. 13:21 - Don't be afraid to be amazing. Putting one foot in front of the next incremental growth on a daily basis is going to add up over time, and you'll be blown away by your results. But it requires you to actually take the step forward. And it doesn't mean you have to climb Mount Everest, it's literally one foot in front of the next like that's it. So don't overwhelm yourself in the process. Commit to growing, commit to learning.15:27 - I've been on this show and just throughout my entire life, really over the last 20 years, I struggled significantly when I was in high school. I had terrible eating disorders. I struggled with anxiety and depression—my own battle. I always utilized my voice to create change and try to create a safe place for other people to recognize that they were struggling with that themselves. And so I am now going to be working primarily with adolescent mental health, which is very exciting to me.17:15 - Happiness means being happy with how I'm showing up for others and with where I'm at. 15:22 - I struggled significantly when I was in high school. I had terrible eating disorders. I struggled with anxiety and depression—my own battle. Day 8On March 5th, 1984, a twenty-three-year-old Orange Bowl Princess named Elizabeth “Beth” Kenyon left the parking lot of the Coral Gables High School where she worked as a special needs teacher. Beth had also been a finalist in the Miss Florida contest in 1982. She thought the pageants were a lot of fun, but her heart was with the kids she taught. She waved goodbye to the security guard on duty, and it is presumed she was headed to the gym. However, she would never make it to the gym, nor would she make it home to her apartment on Ives Dairy Road. The police did list Beth as a missing person but assured the Kenyons their daughter was fine, claiming that young women her age went away for a few days without telling their parents all the time. Beth's parents knew that their daughter was not that irresponsible. Convinced that something was wrong and unhappy with the apathetic attitude of the police, the Kenyons hired private investigators, a father-son duo named Ken Whittaker Senior and Junior. Ken Senior was an ex-FBI Chief and amazingly thorough. No clue was too small for him. Hiring them would be the most important step in this case.Join Jen and Cam on the 5th Annual Our True Crime Podcast's 12 Nightmares Before Christmas Day 8: The Snapshot Killer: Christopher WilderListener Discretion by @octoberpodVHS All music is courtesy of our Executive Producer @wetalkofdreams Researched and written by JenCopy Editor Lauretta AllenSources:https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/43410008-the-snapshot-killer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmBXz0Emm38https://www.aetv.com/real-crime/beauty-queen-killer-christopher-wilder-florida-playboyhttps://www.amazon.com/Christopher-Wilder-Historical-Killers-Murderers-ebook/dp/B01EZ3Z87W/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=christopher+wilder&qid=1638501577&s=books&sr=1-3https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiJovpsOP1ohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQDW9pr_KzA&t=1287shttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiHK-G1QsHshttps://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1301&dat=19870426&id=QHZWAAAAIBAJ&pg=5084,7474822&hl=enhttps://www.upi.com/Archives/1984/08/15/Tina-Marie-Risico-the-teenager-who-accompanied-serial-killer/5727461390400/https://web.archive.org/web/20120421001039/http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/predators/wilder/index.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20120227031048/http://www.lawandordnance.com/Mystery-And-A-Spree-Killer.htmlhttps://web.archive.org/web/20120220033821/http://www.chronicle-express.com/news/police_and_fire/x342383242/-Nothing-ever-happens-herehttps://web.archive.org/web/20160403145301/http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/beauty-queen-killer-takes-bloody-ride-1984-article-1.2366878http://dingeengoete.blogspot.com/2012/04/christopher-wilder-beauty-queen-killer.htmlhttps://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1817&dat=19840425&id=cDodAAAAIBAJ&pg=6904,7213272https://web.archive.org/web/20131212203006/http://www.thefreelibrary.com/A+TEEN%27S+TERRIFYING+DAYS+WITH+A+KILLER+IN+1984,+AN+L.A.-AREA+GIRL...-a0179511757https://healthpsychologyconsultancy.wordpress.com/2012/08/12/making-of-a-monster-christopher-wilder-the-beauty-queen-killer/https://www.dailybreeze.com/2021/07/19/south-bay-history-christopher-wilders-savage-crime-rampage-included-a-stop-off-in-the-south-bay/https://charleyproject.org/case/elizabeth-ann-kenyonhttps://buffalonews.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/1983-slaying-of-young-woman-may-have-been-work-of-serial-killer/article_8f92c889-687e-50fc-84fc-53cb210b162f.htmlhttps://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/mass-murderer-wilder-commits-suicide#:~:text=Christopher%20Wilder%20dies%20after%20a,state%20troopers%20to%20avoid%20capture.
