He also answers a text message from Daniel asking about the argument that some Baptists are making that, if we baptize infants no the basis of the institution of infant circumcision then why do we not baptize grandchildren too? The opening audio features Erick Erikson. This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California. In this episode Dr Clark looks at Romans 3:21–24 and considers Paul's response to the Judaizers about the nature of the law and the gospel. The Judaizers tried to cheat, as it were, by lowering the standard. Paul reminded them and us that the law must be fulfilled perfectly but our law keeping does not do the trick. In this episode Dr Clark also answers questions from Chris about John Nelson Darby, about the distinction between Christ's active and passive obedience, and from a friend of friend about "whosoever will" and whether God may be said to have created humans for destruction. The opening audio comes from Mike and Pat Abendroth on the Pactum Podcast (on the streets of Jerusalem). This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California. This is a special episode of the Heidelcast and special series featuring my dear friend and colleague in ministry, Chad Vegas, pastor of Sovereign Grace Bakersfield. He's been walking his congregation from a Baptist to a Reformed understanding of covenant theology and baptism. He will he writing on this on the Heidelblog in the coming months but for now, here's Chad working though the issues. As you can tell, these are timely since I'm losing my voice. In this episode Dr Clark looks at Romans 3:9–20 and considers Paul's quotation of a chain of passages from the Psalms, Proverbs, and the Prophets about how corrupt we are, by nature, after the fall as he bring the law/sin section of Romans to a close. He answers questions Josiah about the doctrine of baptismal regeneration in the ancient church, from Venkatesh about the relation of repentance as a gospel imperative, and from another Josiah about whether baptismal regeneration is necessary to infant baptism. The opening audio comes from Mary Katherine Ham and Vic Matus. This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California. In this episode Dr Clark looks at Romans 3:1–8 in light of last week's discussion of Paul's distinction between a purely external relation to the covenant of grace and an internal relation to the covenant of grace. What advantage has the Jew? "Much in every way!" Are the means of grace useless? God forbid! He answers questions from Mark about Reformed hermeneutics (the rules for interpreting texts), from Ken about Pelagianism, from Lindsey about the Baptist claim that the regulative principle forbids infant baptism, and from Jacob about the Roman and Eastern Orthodox appeal to apostolic succession. The opening audio comes from Mike Abendroth and No Compromise Radio. This episode of the Heidelcast is sponsored by Westminster Seminary California.
