260718PC Was machen wir nur mit Israel?Mensch Mahler am 18.7.2026Am 15. Mai fand in Wien der Eurovision Song Contest statt. Ein Jubiläum war zu feiern: Zum siebzigsten Mal feierte Europa mit friedlichem Sängerwettstreit, dass Musik die Völker verbindet. Tiefschwarze Schatten sind schon vor Jahren über diesem Event aufgezogen: Russische Musiker sind seit dem Angriff auf die Ukraine nicht mehr eingeladen. Und in diesem Jahr boykottieren Spanien, Slowenien, Irland und die Niederlande die Show, weil Israel trotz seines verheerenden Einsatzes im Gazastreifen teilnehmen wird. Dass dieser Wettbewerb kein Kampf der Nationen, sondern der Rundfunkanstalten ist, und dass gerade der teilnehmende israelische Sender KAN sich immer wieder kritisch mit Israels Politik auseinandersetzt – welchen Boykotteur interessierts? Die politische Großwetterlage hat dazu geführt, dass auch in Deutschland jüdisches Leben wieder gefährdet ist. Und auch dies gehört zur Realität: Gab es in den Jahrzehnten nach Israels Staatsgründung 1948 unter Christen weitestgehende Unterstützung für den kleinen Staat, macht sich heute auch unter Israelfreunden das verstörende Gefühl breit, in Gaza habe man den Bogen wohl doch überspannt. Dass so mancher Israel-Hasser in bedenkenlos zur Schau getragener Geschichtslosigkeit eine unverzeihliche Täter-Opfer-Umkehr pflegt, gehört inzwischen auch zum Erscheinungsbild der öffentlich geführten Debatten. Ich habe am sogenannten Israel-Sonntag, der jährlich in unserer evangelischen Freikirche in diesem Jahr am 9. August begangen wird, zu predigen. Ich habe diesen Dienst mit klopfendem Herzen angenommen. Begibt man sich doch beim Thema Juden und Christen und Deutschland und Israel auf extrem dünnes Eis. Gewagt habe ich es, weil mein Freund und Kollege Uwe Cassens eine Handreichung zu diesem Sonntag geschrieben hat, die extrem hilfreich ist und von der auch der eben zitierte Text entliehen ist. Zum Schluss schreibt Pastor Uwe Cassens: Folgende Stolpersteine sind zu beachten:1. Instrumentalisierung: Der Prediger hüte sich davor, den Text als Kommentar zum aktuellen Nahostkonflikt zu lesen. Selbiges gilt selbstverständlich auch für die Predigerin. Die „Rettung Israels“ bei Paulus ist ein endzeitliches Ereignis, kein geopolitisches Programm. 2. Pauschalierung: Bitte widerstehen Sie der Versuchung, „die Juden“ oder „die Israelis“ als monolithischen Block darzustellen. Das Judentum war und ist plural. Wie sagte unser gemeinsamer Kirchengeschichtsprofessor Günter Balders schon in den späten 70iger Jahren in einer Vorlesung: Philosemitismus ist ebenso schlimm wie Antisemitismus. Man darf es auch bei aller Sympathie für das Volk im Nahen Osten nicht versäumen, mahnend den Zeigefinger zu erheben, wenn Israel sein Selbstverteidigungsrecht in einen Genozid verwandelt.
