Personal stories, tips, and ways to persevere through life’s most difficult moments through training our mind and body with writer, mind-body educator Pete K. Wong.
Recently I did an emotional scene for a movie. By that I mean, I had to cry. It was the first time for me. Upon reflecting on that process, it made me realize some things: Do we allow ourselves to feel our emotions? How do we get to practice feeling these emotions? And are these ways healthy? #mentalhealth #emotions #emotionalintelligence
What are you projecting onto others? In this episode, we'll discuss the incident at this year's Oscars between Will Smith and Chris Rock, as well as a recent personal situation I found myself in. We'll get into the differences between choosing anger and escalating situations, to choosing peaceful solutions and de-escalate situations. #mentalhealth #anger #podcast Listen on Spotify, Apple, Google Podcast, iHeartRadio, and wherever podcasts can be found. On the day of his junior prom, Ricky received the news that would change his life forever. In this episode, I talk to my college buddy about his story of loss, how he dealt with grief, and what it means to be a Dad. Happy New Year 2022! This past holiday was spent in quarantine due to Covid. Pretty sure it was the Omicron variant. Maybe this happened to some of you or someone you know, or maybe you're going through it right now. It wasn't fun. In fact, there were moments challenged my mental health. I thought some of the thoughts I had might help others going through it. Listen on Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcast, iHeartRadio, and wherever podcasts can be found. I've been away because I had to. A year ago things were very different and certain decisions and choices had to be made. As a result, I've been finding myself in much more difficult and feeling doubtful and unsure in a much different way. Life happens and we have make choices still. I'll try my best to unpack this and share. #selfcare #mentalhealth #work Listen on Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcast, iHeartRadio, and wherever podcasts can be found. After coming across Joe Rogan on the Breaking Points podcast talking about how the constructs of the film/entertainment industry effect people's behaviors and interactions, I felt encouraged even compelled to share my own experiences working in the film industry in China and Hollywood. After many years have past, looking back at the choices I made, and how today I would choose to make different choices for the sake of my mental health.
For the past couple of weeks I found myself visiting doctors and in the ER due to stress and anxiety. I wanted to take sometime to share with you what happened, what I've learned about it and from others, in case any of you ever have to go through it.
Celebrations have become important to me. In fact, it's something I try to incorporate daily if not weekly. This past Saturday May 8, 2021 I celebrated my 42nd birthday doing the things I love with those I love. Thought I'd share with you some of the details of how it was spent. #celebration #mentalhealth #asian Listen to this and other episodes on Spotify, iTunes, Google Podcast, iHeartRadio, and wherever podcasts can be found. With the increase in Asian hate crimes and with the spa shooting in Atlanta last week, decided to take a moment to reflect on it as only as I could, honestly. This was a very difficult episode to unpack, but one that I felt necessary. Episode 22: "Love or Hate" - My Response to Asian Hate Crimes. #mentalhealth #hatecrimes #asianamerican Things you can do to help: 1) Report incidents when they occur or are noticed. Getting them logged is important. 2) Do a "check in" with your Asian friends. 3) Donate your time or money to an organization doing the work. On Christmas Eve this year, out in the middle of the cold a man approached me and asked if I could help him out. In the latest episode I reflect back on that evening and how in that moment I made the choice to help him out with $100, and how the consequences of these actions could have ruined the holiday and those I cared about, but instead turned out to be an experience so valuable that no amount of money could ever buy or predict. 1) Weekly 'topic' sessions with Pete start soon! 2020 had something for everyone. I was asked to vacate my place in Los Angeles because of my views on Black Lives Matter (BLM.) Set for a return back to Minnesota, then just two weeks before my flight while returning a book to a friend I was possibly exposed to Covid. For 14 days I quarantined in a hotel room in North Hollywood not knowing what or how things would turn out. Relying on my mind body spirit training, the love and support from family and friends, a positive attitude, and tons of faith I made the choice to persevere. I asked my best friend Henry Rodriguez to co-host so I could share my story for the final episode of the year.
