The only thing Grammy-nominated musician Neko Case craves more than crisp-on-the-outside, fluffy-on-the-inside popovers is Hungarian food from a 61-year-old restaurant in Ohio. Neko tells host Rachel Belle about her favorite Eastern European dishes and how eating at The Balaton helped her reconnect with her long-lost heritage. But back to popovers! We're joined by a pastry chef who baked thousands of popovers every day, five days a week, for five years at Acadia National Park's Jordan Pond House, the popover epicenter of the United States. Aaron, multi-time World Cup-winning downhiller, ran his own team, Gwin Racing, aboard Crestline bikes in 2024 and 2025. The change to Frameworks means a focus on racing, rather than team management, as Gwin seeks to wrap up his competitive career giving it all he can. With a new team comes new equipment. Besides the Frameworks frame, Aaron returns to FOX suspension after Ohlins with Gwin Racing. He'll be on Burgtec bars, a departure from his long-time Renthal setup. Wheels change to ENVE from e.thirteen, and he'll be aboard Continental tires.Vital contributor, Jack Rice, catches up with Aaron, Neko and James McAllister, Aaron's mechanic during a testing session at Windrock Bike Park in December to discuss the changes and challenges.

Anniversaries often invite reflection, and it's remarkable to see how games that once felt like simple pastimes have evolved into celebrated traditions like gaming with friends, family members asking “So, what are we playing?”, or a gateway to conversation with people you meet. These moments remind us that board games are more than cardboard and dice—they're shared memories that endure across generations. Board games themselves have become a bridge between nostalgia and innovation, and their recognition in the National Toy Hall of Fame underscores their cultural significance. Titles like Monopoly, Scrabble, and Clue have already earned their place among the Hall's inductees, standing alongside toys like the Rubik's Cube and LEGO. It's a reminder that the Hall isn't just about toys—it's about honoring the timeless rituals of play. Thanks to all that continue to listen to us, we really appreciate it. Gostje: dr. Veronika Fikfak, sočlanica svetovalnega odbora Sveta Združenih narodov za človekove pravice in profesorica za človekove pravice in mednarodno pravo na univerzi v Londonu; Taja Premk, Amnesty International; Elena Lunder, Društvo za sonaravni razvoj Focus.

It was awesome to finally get to interview Neko Case, whose music (both on her own and with New Pornographers) I've admired for ages. In late September she released an awesome new album called Midnight Grey, Neon Green, and in the interview she shares about the inspiration for the album, which she describes as a tribute to music and musicians, and "a tribute to joy, and the joy that music makes you feel." We also explore her creative evolution, early band experiences, learning how to embrace her talents rather than being self-deprecating about them and how she approaches writing nowadays. She also shares a bit about the writing of her beautiful best-selling memoir, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, as well as talking about the music she's been crafting for a long in-the-works Thelma & Louise musical. You can subscribe to Neko's Substack here and get tickets for her shows here.

I'm Chris, this is the Downtime Podcast and you're tuned into our 2025 Whiteface / Lake Placid post-race show with Neko Mulally and Olly Morris for round 9 of the 2025 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series. If you're listening, that means that like me, you probably LOVE the sport and want to know as much as possible about what's going on. That's exactly what we are here to do. Throughout the season, we'll be bringing you analysis and insights that you won't hear elsewhere. However, as you probably know, the mountain bike industry isn't in a great place right now and as a result, this series doesn't have any brand support. The World Cup coverage is the most expensive thing I produce, as it often includes travel and I like to pay the guys for the expertise that they bring to the table. So I've been funding it myself, along with the support of our wonderful Patreons. If this show means something to you, and you want to help me keep it going, then please consider supporting us over on Patreon. You can sign up for as little as £3 a month at patreon.com/downtimepodcast. That's less than the price of a coffee, but it makes a real difference. The more of you who chip in, the more likely it is that we can keep doing this. I know times are tight. But if you value what we're creating here, if it helps you stay connected to the sport you love, then now's the time to chip in and help out. This week saw Lake Placid showcase a brand new track on Whiteface mountain that challenged the world's best. There were new winners, ongoing rivalries and plenty more. So sit back, hit play and listen to this Whiteface post-race show with Neko and Olly. Podcast Stuff Patreon I would love it if you were able to support the podcast via a regular Patreon donation. I'm Chris, this is the Downtime Podcast and you're tuned into our 2025 Lenzerheide pre-race show with Chris Kilmurray. A big thanks to all the Patreon's who came along to our 'ask me anything' with Chris, Neko and Olly last week, I hope you all had fun. This week we're off to Lenzerheide for round 8 of the 2025 World Cup. With the season heading into its final stretch, every point counts and the pressure's at boiling point. Who's on form, and who's going to crack? As always there's heaps to dive into, so sit back, hit play and listen to this Lenzerheide pre-race show with Chris Kilmurray. Podcast Stuff Patreon I would love it if you were able to support the podcast via a regular Patreon donation. Donations start from as little as £3 per month. That's less than £1 per episode and less than the price of a take away coffee. Every little counts and these donations will really help me keep the podcast going and hopefully take it to the next level. To help out, head here. After recently releasing her memoir, The Harder I Fight the More I Love You, and finishing her eighth studio album, the upcoming Neon Grey Midnight Green, Neko Case is drawing a lot of conclusions. She tells Marc that animals and nature are more consistent and reliable than people, that she's at peace with knowing her parents didn't want her, and that she's more comfortable choosing her own family. Neko and Marc also talk about her songwriting process, her pro wrestler great-aunt, and The New Pornographers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
