Ryan is back for Christmas week to review the UPtv Christmas musical, The Best Thing About Christmas.ABOUT THE BEST THING ABOUT CHRISTMASThis faith-based musical follows the story of overcoming hardship through community, family, and the magic of Christmas. With uplifting moments, heartfelt performances, and original music, it's a celebration of hope, love, and meaningful connections during the holiday season.AIR DATE & NETWORK FOR THE BEST THING ABOUT CHRISTMASDecember 20, 2025 | UPtvCAST & CREW OF THE BEST THING ABOUT CHRISTMASMegan Alexander as Kara HuntDerek Hinckley as DylanBRAN'S THE BEST THING ABOUT CHRISTMAS SYNOPSISThe movie kicks off with Dylan playing a tune for his wife, Kara, while she folds laundry. He keeps singing, “I'm gonna make you romantic,” and she starts singing along with him. Dylan is an aspiring musician, even though he's definitely getting a bit too old for this, especially with four kids — including 18-year-old Molly, who is also an aspiring musician.Molly goes with her dad to one of his gigs, where a record executive notices them and ends up signing them to a record label! Off to Nashville they go, despite Kara being really hesitant about the idea. But Dylan is the man of the house, and he makes the rules. On Christmas Eve, Dylan gets devastating news — Molly has been killed in a car crash. Dylan spends the next part of the movie acting like a bit of a dirtbag. The record label woman tries to make a move on him, and he realizes how much he's been screwing things up. In frustration, he smashes his guitar on the ground. He visits Molly's gravesite and has a heartfelt conversation with the pastor. Afterward, he apologizes to Kara and the rest of his family. He decides to hold a fundraiser in Molly's honor, encouraging everyone to bring warm clothes to donate — something Molly was very passionate about. The fundraiser is a smash hit. Dylan brings out Mark Wills and his youngest daughter to perform a song that he and Molly were working on before she passed, The Best Thing About Christmas. The family ends the night by putting up the Christmas tree together, happy and united. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? The Best Things About Survivor 49 Survivor 49 takes center stage as Rob Cesternino and Mike Bloom dig into the twists, cast shake-ups, and most memorable moments from a season that refused to play it safe. With a focus on what really worked in Survivor 49, Rob and Mike look back at the season's biggest format shifts, including the return of two-tribe swaps, the end of “mergatory,” and smarter journey twists that gave players more choices and fewer automatic penalties. This is the episode for fans interested in re-examining the wild moves and standout personalities that defined Survivor's 49th outing. Rob and Mike start by revisiting the game's structural changes, pointing out the excitement—and occasional frustration—surrounding the double tribe swaps, more fluid gameplay, and meaningful opportunities for castaways to interact. They take a closer look at the cast's breakout stars, especially Rizzo, Sage, Jawan, Savannah, Soph, and Kristina, discussing how their alliances, rivalries, and emotional moments shaped the season’s narrative. The hosts break down Rizzo's clever idol maneuvers, Sage's surprising strategic game, the legendary Sage-Shannon handshake standoff, and the snake bite incident, each giving Survivor 49 its unpredictable flavor. Along the way, Rob and Mike highlight confessional gold, wild challenge wins, and the messiest Tribal Councils—exploring the unique tone and gameplay choices that separated this season from the rest. – Two-tribe swaps and bold format changes set the tone for an unpredictable merge – Rizzo's idol play—fake and real—sparked chaos and kept everyone guessing – Sage's rivalry with Shannon produced one of the season's most talked-about confrontations – The emotional beats: Jawan's journey from outsider to power player and Kristina's heartfelt challenge moment – Uli tribe's strong edit and core alliance, shifting post-merge dynamics, and underdog breakthroughs Will the twists and cast chemistry of Survivor 49 inspire future format experiments, or do the highs and lows serve as a cautionary tale? Can Rizzo's inventive approach or Sage's emotional gameplay become the new Survivor blueprint? While humans were leaving the Stone Age and entering the Bronze, some Bristlecone pine trees grew from seeds to sprouts. They've been growing ever since. These 5,000-year-old pines are among the oldest organisms on Earth. Superlatives are also appropriate for the towering redwoods. Trees are amazing in many ways. They provide us with timber and cool us with shade, they sequester carbon and release oxygen, and are home to countless species. But they are also marvels of evolutionary adaptation. We consider the beauty and diversity of trees, and learn why their future is intertwined with ours. Sometimes on CheapShow, things can get TOO exciting at times. This week is probably not one of those times as Paul and Eli put “thick white sliced bread” to the Off Brand/Brand Off test! Four loaves of supermarket basic white bread will be chewed and reviewed by self-proclaimed supertaster, Eli J Silverman! Which will come out on top – the name brand leader or the budget supermarket equivalent? The results may surprise you… But probably won't. As Christmas once again looms on the horizon, Paul orders the “Grinch” McDonald's meal to see what makes it so “grinched”. Will it just be a load of green coloured food? Probably, but at least it comes with free Grinch socks! As the year winds itself down, CheapShow marches forward! Wisconsin hits that time of year where the sun clocks out at 4:27 PM. But here's the thing — you might not be depressed… you might just be Wisconsin tired. Like my guy NF says: “the mind is a powerful place and what you feed it can affect you in a powerful way.” So instead of feeding it the usual “I hate winter” mantra… what if we work to change the mindset around this season? This week on the pod, Trev breaks down: Why fall hits our mood and energy so hard What's actually happening with serotonin, melatonin, HRV, and stress How to train smarter in the slow season (not harder) Why slowing down isn't losing progress — it's making space for it And the human side of this season — the heavy stuff we don't talk about enough Shoutout to Erica for dropping the heater that sparked this whole episode: “Maybe the slower season isn't the problem. Maybe it's the invitation. Let's change the mindset around it." If fall feels weird for you, you're not alone — and you're not broken. You're just in your reset season. New episode is live. And send it to the friend who's already said “I hate this time of year” at least twice today.

In August, Chris and I spent 2 weeks in Japan. We visited Tokyo, Kyoto, Okayama, Hiroshima, Naoshima, Himeji, and then wrapped up in Hakone in the mountains before our last full day in Tokyo. While many people just come here on a day trip from Tokyo, we spent 3 days here. And it was WELL worth it! We relaxed in our epic ryokan complete with its own private onsen, we went hiking, and we even did the Hakone Round Course. 3 days in Hakone was a great amount of time to get to know the area and enjoy being in nature while in Japan! Check out the best things to do in Hakone, where to stay, and more in this podcast episode! This episode was inspired by an unexpected, deep conversation I had downstairs at the café just minutes before hitting record. A table full of strangers turned into real connection — the kind that happens when you drop the filter and speak honestly about what's actually going on in your life. One moment in particular stood out: when I mentioned my recent separation, the immediate response was, “I'm so sorry.” And that sparked today's message. I share why I lovingly shut down sympathy — not because people mean harm, but because I refuse to see my challenges as something “bad.” Instead, I break down the belief that's reshaped my life: Life is rigged in your favour Anything you declare you want — deeper love, a thriving business, better health — requires you to grow into the person who can hold it. And that growth often comes disguised as hardship. I talk openly about my marriage, the darkness it revealed, and how the pain ultimately upgraded who I am as a partner, a man, and a human being. If you're going through a tough season, this episode will help you reframe it — not by denying the difficulty, but by seeing the meaning in it.
