POPULARITY
I had the extreme pleasure of having my friend Aadam on the podcast again for the third time. And just like the two previous episodes (Episode 9 & Episode 49), this one was phenomenal—maybe even the best yet? I'll let you decide, but for those who don't know, Aadam is a fitness coach and writer for his site, physiqonomics.com. He's one of the best, if not THE best fitness content creator in the game. I may be biased, but I think many others would agree. And even though he rarely does podcasts, you can tell in this episode that Aadam spends a lot of time thinking about these complex issues and distilling them in a digestible fashion. So, after you listen to this episode, make sure you check out the rest of his content for more fitness wisdom gems with a sprinkling of F-bombs. Enjoy! In this episode, we cover: -How he's been handling COVID in the UK -The effects of limited social interactions -A day in the life of Aadam -His morning routine -Reading techniques and notetaking -How we journal differently -Managing your schedule around your energy -His struggles after his famous fat loss article took off -Growing out of expectations of your past self -When perfectionism becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy -Lowering expectations to make more progress -"What would Aadam think of this?" -Unfocused vs focused comparison of others -Paying attention to what you DON'T want -3 levels of friendships -Why ignorance can be helpful -Becoming the type of person who's successful -Why achieving goals doesn't always make you happy -And much more! He's always a wealth of knowledge and never fails to shoot it to you straight. Aadam Ali was always an overweight kid growing up and preferred reading comic books than doing any form of exercise. He takes us through his humorous story on getting the girl when he was 12 years old by wanting to look like her favorite rapper 50 cent. His plan worked (to a certain extent) and he won her over. From this relationship onwards he kept a strong focus on workout plans and became ended up becoming a PT with a twist. There are very few people in the fitness industry who get my dick hard every time they write something new. Aadam Ali, is one of those guys. He also happens to be a very close friend and a brother I'd lay my life down for. Well, maybe. But only if he named his first born after me. Or at least his left testicle. Anyways, Aadam has been a huge influence on my writing and my thinking as well. He's also been on the podcast at least a dozen times now on the Coaches Corner episodes. But this time, I got him solo, one-on-one, and we would have touched tips, but he's in Britain and I'm in NYC. But here's a little bio about Aadam: I am a cunt. The supreme cunt of cunts. Call me King Cunt. Cuntzilla of Cuntakistan. I write things. And people read them. When they don't, I feel bad that they have no personality or sense of humor. I taught Deadpool everything he knows. Seriously; I'm not fucking kidding—everything. Oh, and I brood harder than Drake and Bruce Wayne combined. I also draw things. And read those ancient things made of paper called books. And sometimes, I go onstage for Zayn of One Direction. Because we're brothers. Except, we got separated at birth and he wound up in a band, and I wound up getting wedgies at Uni, so I dropped out, got shredded, and then started helping people look better with their clothes off. But don't send me your pictures, I don't wanna see them. Unless you're fit. And by fit, I mean me. So enjoy this episode with my brother, Aadam Ali. We talk about: Why he’s taken a break from being on social media as much Creating long form content How’s he’s grown as a writer over the last two years Creating the illustrations for his articles Not being afraid to try things Writing for social media vs blogs His perfectionist streak Where he struggles to be himself His Keto experiment Tools in his toolbox Patience His battle with a short temper The struggles of the writing process Getting started The importance of doing the work What he’s taken away from Jordan Peterson’s lectures Virtue in suffering Pain is the harbinger of truth Guardians, Justice League, and more The History of the Calorie How he helps clients not count calories long term There is no normal

**NOTE: This is a two-part episode. Please make sure to listen to Part 1 first or you'll be lost.** In Part 1 of this episode, we discussed how myths, and the structure of myths, still influence some of the greatest movies and books in pop culture. And that these myths show us how to live a more virtuous life. Part 1 saw Tanner Baze, Nick Sorrell, Aadam Ali, and I breaking down and introducing people to The Hero's Journey. Why you need to face your dragon and what pieces of wisdom we've received from Dr. Jordan Peterson. Here're a few bullet points for what we covered in Part 1: Dr. Jordan B. Peterson (Podcast, Joe Rogan Podcast) John Romaniello (His book Man 2.0 is based off The Hero’s Journey) Ancient myths and modern day applications Why myths are road maps Superman is a God and why we can’t relate to him Why The Joker is Batman’s most formidable enemy Both sides of evil within ourselves Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face Why you need to face our dragon Why Aadam loves the Anti-Hero Suffering and struggle: there is nothing more important in the world Why we need the metaphysical Arete and Apotheosis After we end on the discussion of The Matrix, we dive even further into the importance of what myths and the stories in fiction can reveal to us as humans. In part two we discuss: The Emperors Blades Why books, myths, or movies always speak to us Your brain picks up patterns subconsciously Gut feelings and urges Read more books --- period Accepting your call Slay your fucking dragon
**NOTE: This is a two-part episode. Please make sure to listen to Part 1 first or you'll be lost.** Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Buddha, Christ, Gilgamesh, they all follow the same story line archetype. What Joseph Campbell came to call The Hero's Journey. According to Dr. Jordan Peterson, myths are a road map for how to live a virtuous life. They show us how to live a good life, what is right and wrong, connect us with our humanity, and teach us lessons that science cannot. In this episode, Tanner Baze, Nick Sorrell, Aadam Ali, and I break down The Hero's Journey, how it applies to life, and how it can guide you to live a more virtuous and moral life. But this episode is more than that. We talk about facing your dragon (or demons) and why this is the most important thing you can do in life, period. We break down thoughts from Dr. Jordan Peterson about why myths show us that, “Getting to where you want to go is not what you want, it’s to make sure the voyage is worth it.” First and foremost, all of us can't stress enough how much of an influence John Romaniello and his knowledge of Campbell has meant to us. Without Roman, there would be no Tanner Baze, Robbie Farlow, or Aadam Ali. We owe much of our desire to get in shape and improve lives through writing and creating "good art" to Roman. So for that, thank you sir. And if you've never read his book, you should. It's required reading, actually. (check the notes below for a link) In Part 1 of this episode we discuss: Dr. Jordan B. Peterson (Podcast, Joe Rogan Podcast) John Romaniello (His book Man 2.0 is based off The Hero’s Journey) “Getting to where you want to go is not what you want, it’s to make sure the voyage is worth it.” Ancient myths and modern day applications Why myths are road maps Superman is a God and why we can’t relate to him Why The Joker is Batman’s most formidable enemy Both sides of evil within ourselves Harvey Dent’s transformation into Two-Face You either die the hero or see yourself become the villain Did Tolkien mean to tell the inner deep meanings of his stories?
