Overwhelmed by your kid's meltdowns, tantrums and big reactions? When outbursts keep repeating, it's not bad parenting—it's a stressed nervous system. In this episode, Dr. Roseann Capanna-Hodge, expert in Regulation First Parenting™ and childhood emotional dysregulation, shows you how to calm the brain first and create lasting change. So many parents come to me feeling overwhelmed, walking on eggshells, bracing for the next explosion. When your child's meltdowns happen over and over, it creates fear, frustration, and emotional exhaustion. When meltdowns keep happening despite your best efforts, it's not bad parenting. It's nervous system overload. In this episode, I'll show you why tantrums repeat—and how to calm the brain first. Why do my child's meltdowns keep happening no matter what I try? Most parents think if they just find the right consequence, reward, or script, they can stop tantrums. But meltdowns aren't logic problems—they're biology. When stress spikes:The amygdala hijacks the brainStress hormones surgeThe thinking brain goes offlineNo reasoning. No listening. No learning. From the outside, it looks like defiance or a power struggle. Inside, your child's nervous system feels threat, loss of control, or sensory overload. It's not about effort—it's about order. Why do I feel so overwhelmed by my kid's meltdowns?Repeated tantrums and meltdowns create hypervigilance. You start anticipating the next explosion before it happens. That dread? It's real. Two dysregulated nervous systems in one home feels like chaos—because it is.You may notice:Emotional exhaustionBracing before transitionsFeeling overwhelmed even during calm momentsThis isn't weakness. It's biology. Here's the truth: You can't calm a child if your own nervous system is in fight-or-flight. Your regulation is the intervention. Why doesn't punishing or lecturing stop tantrums? You can't consequence your way out of a nervous system meltdown.Time outs. Threats. Removing screen time. Lectures. Most families try these. But during child's tantrums, executive functioning isn't accessible. No regulation = no access to problem-solving skills. That's why managing tantrums mid-explosion rarely works.Instead:Regulate first—you, not themDrop your shouldersTake deep breathsSoften your toneKids borrow your calm before they build their own.How can I stop tantrums before they explode? Here's where change happens: the yellow light, not the red.Meltdowns don't start with screaming. They start with:IrritabilityRigidityWhiningAvoidanceZoning outThese are clues about your child's triggers.Ask:Is there sensory overload? Are transitions abrupt? Is sleep solid? Is their stress cup already full? It's all about the total stress load. You shrink tantrums and meltdowns by lowering baseline stress, not by controlling behavior.

For more information on how to control your anger, visit angersecrets.com.In this episode, anger expert Alastair Duhs shares three practical steps to help you control your anger before it takes over. If you've ever said something you regret in the heat of the moment, or felt like your anger erupts before you even realise what's happening, this episode explains exactly why that happens and what you can do about it starting today.Rather than offering generic advice like "count to ten" or "take a deep breath," Alastair breaks down the real mechanics of anger: why it escalates so fast, what's actually driving it beneath the surface and how better communication can transform even the most stuck relationship patterns.Key Takeaways:You can't control your anger if you don't know it's happening. Learning to spot your personal early warning signs before anger peaks is the most important first step.Your anger isn't caused by what happens to you. It's caused by what you think about what happens to you. Changing the thought changes the response.Beneath every repeated trigger is usually a rigid belief, and once you can see it clearly, you can begin to shift it.Active listening is one of the most powerful anger management tools in relationships. When people feel truly heard, defensiveness drops and real conversations become possible. These are skills, not personality traits. They get easier with practice.Resources & Next Steps:If you'd like support controlling your anger and building calmer, more loving relationships:Visit: angersecrets.comBook a free 30-minute phone callAccess the free training on "Breaking The Anger Cycle"

The conversation pivots to Bill Clinton's deposition, where he visibly shakes through questions but ultimately clears Donald Trump of any wrongdoing connected to Jeffrey Epstein, facing tough questioning from Nancy Mace. The show then moves into “Kim on a Whim,” examining Missouri's teen driving crisis, the push to reinstate voluntary driver's education programs, and personal anecdotes on learning to drive, insurance impacts, and distracted driving dangers. And for single parents carrying the weight of structure, discipline, and emotional stability alone, that distinction matters more than ever.In this episode of Single Parent Success Stories, Irina Shehovsov sits down with Marine officer, author, and leadership expert OlaOlu Ogunyemi to explore how military leadership principles can transform the way we parent — without yelling, shaming, or power struggles.OlaOlu shares how discipline and emotional intelligence can coexist, why authority doesn't require intimidation, and how parents can lead their families with strength and compassion at the same time. This week on The Go-To Food Podcast, we are joined by Neil Rankin, the chef behind some of London's most talked-about restaurants: Pitt Cue, John Salt, Smokehouse, Bad Egg and, of course, Temper. We trace the slightly unconventional route that took him from a sandwich business and a proper career wobble into Michelin kitchens, then on to finding his true groove via BBQ, fire-cooking and big, bold flavours.Neil Rankin speaks candidly about the darker realities of the industry. Bullying versus brutality, kitchens that nearly broke him, and the moments where power, ego and silence caused lasting damage. There are stories here that are genuinely shocking, including one workplace experience he describes as the worst of his life, and others that reveal how close he came to walking away altogether. We also get into the headlines. Neil talks about publicly calling out Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White, what prompted it, and why he still stands by the wider point, even if the internet reaction was slightly more chaotic than intended. It is candid, funny in places, and full of the kind of context you only get from someone who has been in the middle of it.Neil is brilliant on what it actually takes to build hit restaurants, and what people never see. The reality of learning fast, long shifts, the difference between hard kitchens and outright bullying, and how a good head chef can change everything. ------Pre Order Ben's Incredible Book - All You Can Eat - By Clicking Here - https://www.amazon.co.uk/All-You-Can-Eat-British/dp/1805221523 Hosted on Acast. Temper your passion with wisdom, your frenzy with good sense,  Aim for Balance and Growth in your pursuits so you don't panic,  Or turn what once seemed fun into something far too intense,  But can develop naturally in a way that's healthy, sustainable and organic.   [full text below]   Ep. 422 - Love Happy We begin as always  with the Happy Creed. We believe in Happy,  in Balance and Growth,  of being Mindful and Grateful, Compassionate and Understanding. Yowza Haha My Happy Friends! I used to be in love with Love,  A state I was rather fond of, But Love can be a tricky thing, So, play it cool, and never cling. I was conditioned, you see,  Into thinking that persistence and grand gestures were key, That passionate, imaginative pitching of woo  Was all a suitor had to do! Alas, alack and mercy be,  I finally learned that ain't for me. The tragedy is not that you'll lose a Love you could've had, But, much worse--that you'll win the heart of someone bad, Because the promise of Love can cloud every thought, So that you realize too late what such folly has brought.  I used to chase after dates and show my affection with poems and gifts,  Without ever getting to know them first, through connection or trust,  I also used to love finding a new hobby, who doesn't love one that temporarily uplifts? But if it had no real staying power or substance it would wind up a bust. New things can be exciting, all mysterious and attractive and stuff, But if there's no compatibility, then it's doomed to breed discontent, Because no matter how much you try to force it, it'll never be enough, That's why when it comes to Love, you'd do well to start with mature intent. Is how you're behaving something you plan to sustain? Or is it just a big show that will be over far too soon? Then what will you do when pleasure turns to pain? Can you get over yourself after being over the moon? Love Happy means to temper your passion with wisdom, your frenzy with good sense,  To aim for Balance and Growth in your all interests and pursuits so you don't panic, Or get so carried away that what at first seemed fun becomes too intense, But can develop naturally in a way that is healthy, sustainable and organic. Haha Yowza

How are you handling your anger? Anger is something we all struggle with—but according to Jesus, it’s more serious than we often realize. In this episode, Pastor Chris Kipp unpacks Jesus’ powerful teaching from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:17–26), where He connects anger and murder in a way that challenges our hearts. Jesus’ words are both convicting and full of hope, offering a path toward true transformation from the inside out. First up, we look at the absurdities of modern leadership with goofy governance. Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has declared he won't attend Donald Trump's state banquet — a bold refusal of an invitation he never received. Mark and Pete explore what this reveals about the theatre of British politics and the problem of symbolic posturing in governance. Next, we turn to the tennis court. Daniil Medvedev lost his cool when a photographer strayed onto the court, showing how easily anger boils over in sport. But when is anger righteous, and when is it destructive? Pete reflects on biblical teaching about temper, from Jesus cleansing the Temple to Paul's warning not to let the sun go down on our wrath. Finally, posture comes under scrutiny. Scientist and BBC presenter Dr Xand van Tulleken has urged people to improve their posture for health's sake. Pete has tried this himself and shares why posture matters — not just physically, but spiritually, as Scripture calls us to stand firm in faith.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/mark-and-pete--1245374/support.
