This week at our Jackson Campus, Campus Pastor Mitch Johnson continues our new short sermon series titled “Heroes”—a journey through Old Testament heroes whose lives point us to the ultimate Hero, Jesus Christ. We hope this resource is a blessing to you. This week in our Heros of the Old Testament series, Janet reflects on a turning point in Abraham's journey—Abraham: Running Scared, based on Genesis 12:10–20. After bravely leaving everything behind to follow God's call, Abraham faces a famine and travels to Egypt. But fear takes hold, and he makes a decision that risks both his integrity and his wife's safety. In this honest and thought-provoking passage, we're reminded that even people of great faith stumble. Yet even when we get it wrong, God remains faithful. This week's message invites us to reflect on the tension between fear and faith, and how grace can meet us in our weakest moments.
This week in our Heros of the Old Testament series, Gemma reflects on the extraordinary calling of Abraham, drawn from Genesis 12:1–9. God tells Abraham to leave everything he knows—his country, his people, his family—and to set out to a place God will show him. No map. No final destination. Just trust. Abraham's journey begins with radical obedience. He says yes without knowing the full picture, showing us what it means to follow God even when the way forward is uncertain. His faith reminds us that God often calls us into the unknown so that He can lead us to something greater.

This week in our Heros of the Old Testament series, Phil reflects on the story of Noah, focusing on Genesis 6:9–22. Noah is described as “a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” In a world filled with corruption and violence, Noah stood apart by choosing obedience and trust in God. His faith led him to build an ark, following God's call—even when it made no sense to the world around him. This reflection challenges us to consider how we can live with that same kind of righteousness and trust today, especially when doing so sets us apart.

We've had in the past devotee appreciation days. We call them D.A.D. — Devotee Appreciation Day. We did it for maybe four years, and by the fourth year, I remember driving home and saying to Nirākulā, "How do you feel?" She said, "Alright." And I said, "Well, I don't feel quite right." We felt some anxiety. As we discussed it more, we realized that we were both feeling some anxiety, and we were able, finally, by Krishna's giving us intelligence, to understand what it was. We couldn't say enough about the devotees, although we tried. For those of you who were there during those times, the D.A.D.s, everyone would try. Some, the overachievers in our group, which is 99% of the population, would get up and try to exalt as many devotees as they could. In fact, in those days, it might have even been possible for the valedictorian, the 1600-SAT-type person, to think of everybody and say something about each one. But it was rare and hard, and for those of us who are not so capable, it seemed like "a dwarf," as Prabhupāda sometimes said, "reaching for the moon." Somehow, we felt unfulfilled that we weren't able to say enough. Or maybe that feeling when we fell asleep at night, we woke up at one in the morning and thought, "Oh, I missed somebody!" And it made us realize that it's not possible to fully express our gratitude to the devotees for their association. I'm saying for everyone involved, because I know other devotees felt like that, too. But we can express our gratitude to one another by holding space the way we've been asked to by Krishna and our spiritual masters: to show up for our services and set an example for others. And whenever we have the opportunity, when it comes naturally, to fully express, or as far as possible, express our gratitude to the devotees. (excerpt from HG Vaisesika Dasa's talk) We were in the U.K., and I was asked to speak with Jāhnavī Jīvana's mom, and who many of you have met, Guru Charaṇa Padmā. She's a lovely devotee. And we were talking about the six loving exchanges, and one realization I had was that a loving exchange can be something like, which was really valuable to me, was giving gifts and giving the gift of service to someone. I remember the devotees who have given me service, and it's a gift that, you know, as they say, keeps on giving. So, as you know, we have so many devotees that have been here for decades, and we're welcoming soon, so many new faces. Let's open our hearts to them as well and make them feel as loved and supported and appreciated and valued as we all feel for the devotees we know really well. And if we have some service that we can give to them, do it. It's the biggest gift that you can give to someone, because, you know, what's the saying? “Your sevā will save you." I'm sure all of you have experienced that somewhere in your lives already. I know we have, I continue to experience that. So, if you have the opportunity to encourage someone, especially someone new to the community, please, please do it. Let them feel the completeness, the acceptance, the care that we all give to each other who we've known for so long. That's one of the most valuable things that we have as a family and a community. If you've ever wanted to party in a magical forest where the trees are judging you and the weather is trying to kill you, this is your episode. A massive thank you to Dungeon Master Adamantine for sponsoring this episode! Whether you want to explore mythic Athens in person or dive into the underdark from your living room, Nick Fotopoulos—aka DM Adamantine—runs unforgettable sessions across systems including D&D, Call of Cthulhu, and Vampire: The Masquerade. Episode Summary: In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast, the crew ascends to the upper planes—specifically Arborea, the chaotic good realm of unfiltered passion, overflowing food, and wildly unpredictable weather. The discussion kicks off with character dynamics in tabletop RPGs, including the joys of playing support roles (bards get a lot of love), and meanders gloriously into an exploration of Arborea's distinct layers and their mythic, emotional, and environmental weight. From the fertile lands of Arvandor to the infinite-but-three-feet-deep ocean of Aqualore, and the ruin-scattered, chalk-dusted dunes of Mithardir, the hosts explore what it means to live—or afterlive—in Arborea. They compare the plane to California, invoke the chaotic energy of a 24/7 frat party to describe Sylvania, and debate whether your party name really matters. Along the way, you'll encounter sentient forests, eldritch food carts, mysterious spiriters, and a lot of strong opinions about weather patterns and campaign storytelling. Welcome to the final week of our Joseph reflections in our ongoing teaching series:Heros of the Old Testament – a journey through the lives of Joseph, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Moses. In a world where hurt and betrayal are common, Joseph's story of reconciliation is a powerful reminder that healing is possible through faith. His willingness to see God's bigger plan challenges us to consider: How might God be calling us to forgive?Where is He at work behind the scenes in our own story? This week's reflection invites us to embrace grace, mercy, and perspective as we move forward in our own lives.

Welcome to this week's reflection in our Heros of the Old Testament series, where we explore the lives and faith journeys of key figures from the Bible—Joseph, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Moses. Through their stories, we seek to understand how God worked through ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things, and what lessons we can apply to our own walk of faith. Over the past two weeks, we've been journeying through the life of Joseph. We began with Joseph the Dreamer (Genesis 37:1–11), reflecting on how God spoke to Joseph through dreams and planted purpose in him from a young age. Last week, in God With Us (Genesis 39), we saw God's presence with Joseph through betrayal and hardship, even as he was falsely accused and imprisoned. This week, Anne continues the story with Genesis 41:1–36, where Joseph is suddenly brought before Pharaoh to interpret a troubling dream. After years of obscurity, God opens a door no one else could. It's a pivotal moment that changes the course of Joseph's life—and that of an entire nation. Joseph's journey shows us that God opens doors at the right time, even when we've experienced long seasons of waiting. His story reminds us to remain faithful, to trust that God is preparing us behind the scenes, and to be ready when the opportunity comes. As we reflect on Joseph's experience, we ask ourselves: Where might God be at work in our waiting? How can we stay faithful and hopeful in seasons of uncertainty? Each week in this series, we delve into the lives of these Old Testament heros to discover how their faith, challenges, and obedience can guide and strengthen our own discipleship today.

In Part 2 of our conversation with Lynnsey Robinson, we go deeper into the woo (and the why) — decoding what our dreams are really trying to tell us, how to approach tarot as a tool for self-reflection (not fortune-telling), and how to actually use affirmations so they don't feel like empty words. We talk about what it means when you keep having the same dream over and over again, how tarot can help you get unstuck, and why slapping “I am confident” on your mirror isn't enough if your subconscious isn't on board. It's part intuition, part psychology, and all good vibes.---Follow Lynnsey RobinsonBook with Lynnsey---Stream Hannah's album, PHASES!Watch Emily's Short Film, All We Were!Emily's TikTok Shop---Lynnsey's Captivation: Rewatching TV shows like: Heros, How I Met Your Mother, Lost with her kidsEmily's Captivation: Something Beautiful by Miley CyrusHannah's Captivation: Deli BoysShop CLEARSTEM and 15% off with the code GALSGUIDE at checkout---Welcome to The Gal's Guide — a weekly dating and lifestyle podcast created to empower radical self-love and bold relationships. Today I am joined by my friend and fellow podcaster Brock Bevelle. Hes a retired police officer and a man in long term sobriety from opioid addiction. He also manages the Tiktok and IG accounts called @Fentanylprojectaz where he interviews people on the street in active addiction. We are going to talk about what its like to be in long term sobriety and actually get into some of our dark addiction stories that keep us sober that we dont normally talk about. I also wanted to bring awareness to Brocks work where he is actually in the streets trying to help people kick fentanyl addiction. He offers basics like hygiene kits, sunscreen, and water, but he also offers emotional and recovery resources. Not only that, he is literally saving lives on a regular basis. There are many videos on Tiktok where he Narcans people who are actively overdosing. Its heartbreaking, but also so inspiring to watch as he gives hope to so many people. The main reason I wanted to talk with Brock again is because I wanted to find out how we as a community can support people like him who are on the streets every day. If you are inspired by Brocks work and you feel called to help, Ill encourage you to send him some supplies through his amazon link. Ill leave it in the show notes at odaatchat.com, or you can also find it on IG and Tiktok under @fentanylprojectaz So without further delay, please enjoy this episode, and let me know what you think! =J

In this week's episode, the crew dove into the wildest debate lighting up the internet: *100 average men vs. one fully grown gorilla*. From breaking down the physical odds to arguing whether strategy or environment could shift the outcome, the conversation swung between hilarious and heated. The guys also discussed the kind of "average men" being imagined—whether beer-bellied uncles or part-time gym rats could even make a dent—and what animal 100 men *could* realistically take down. Then in the second half, things got real with a topic titled **"What Men Shouldn't Ask."** Sparked by a listener's email and Riskay's infamous “What are we?” advice, the crew unpacked why certain questions—from asking about money to emotional check-ins with the homies—can backfire hard when they come from a man. They even tackled the taboo of bringing up threesomes, time-of-the-month questions, and unrealistic barber requests. And to top it all off, they wrapped up the final, action-packed chapter of their *Choose Your Own Adventure* saga in the *Invincible*-inspired universe, where one member may not have made it out alive.

APRIL FOR THE UNION HEROS. 1/8: On Great Fields: The Life and Unlikely Heroism of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain by Ronald C. White (Author) https://www.amazon.com/Great-Fields-Unlikely-Lawrence-Chamberlain/dp/0525510087/ref=tmm_hrd_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1707433634&sr=1-1 Before 1862, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain had rarely left his home state of Maine, where he was a trained minister and mild-mannered professor at Bowdoin College. His colleagues were shocked when he volunteered for the Union army, but he was undeterred and later became known as one of the North's greatest heroes: On the second day at Gettysburg, after running out of ammunition at Little Round Top, he ordered his men to wield their bayonets in a desperate charge down a rocky slope that routed the Confederate attackers. Despite being wounded at Petersburg—and told by two surgeons he would die—Chamberlain survived the war, going on to be elected governor of Maine four times and serve as president of Bowdoin College. 1863 BREASTWORKS AT LITTLE ROUND TOP
BirdCare Aotearoa is a wild, native bird hospital that works to rehabilitate sick and injured birds back into the wild. For their upcoming event: ‘Bird Heros,' a part of EcoFest 2025 on the 6th of April, the workshop will look at the best practices on rescuing wild native birds, and will include a tour of their bird hospital, which is not usually open to the public. For this week's Green Desk, Producer Leilani spoke to the Hospital Manager at BirdCare Aotearoa, Pooja Dorle, about the rehabilitation processes of birds within their hospital ahead of their next workshop. Fellow Green Desk Producer Liam, and News and Editorial Director Joel, went to the previous workshop over the weekend, and spoke to the Chair of the organisation, Kevin Furgeson, and volunteer Marina, and had a tour of their facilities. Thanks EcoFest! BirdCare Aotearoa also has a fundraiser running to shed light on seabirds affected by street lights and brightly lit buildings across the city, affecting their migration patterns and causing birds, such as the protected Petrels, Shearwaters, and Prions, to fall and injure themselves. To support their clinical rehabilitation practices, you can support their campaign on givealittle.

What does it take to build a premium wellness brand in one of the world's most regulated, misunderstood, and competitive industries? In this episode, I sit down with David Hartigan, Founder and CEO of Hemp Heros, to talk about the real story behind his mission-driven CBD and functional mushroom company. From managing MMA fighters to becoming one of the few B Corp-certified hemp brands, David shares how a single moment of belief changed his life and how he's paying it forward through his business. David takes us behind the scenes of launching into the U.S. market, setting up U.S.-based manufacturing, creating pet products that win hearts (and tails), and building multiple brands with integrity. He's also inspired by his mother's health journey with a new mushroom line. He's proof that success follows when you lead with quality and purpose.
