Have you faced profound extraordinary painful like Job in the Bible, circumstances in your life? Are you in need of encouragement and a testament of faith that will help you rise again with God? In our authentic conversation, special guest, Juliet Dawn, shares her "Born-to-Be" God Story of her devastating heartbreak over the past 35 years which has included a difficult marriage, four miscarriages, the loss of her twin boys, poisonous spider bites, a car crash during her pregnancy with her eldest son and two nervous breakdowns and how God remained her anchor as her faith was tested. Juliet is a British singer-songwriter whose powerful voice and poignant storytelling reflect a life marked by both extraordinary pain and unshakable hope. A former X Factor contestant who has performed at the Royal Albert Hall, now at 56, Juliet channels her story of redemption and resilience into her new album, Born To Be, recorded in Nashville with producer Billy Smiley. Blending soul-stirring vocals with heartfelt lyrics, the album captures her message of beauty from brokenness. Its debut single, Arise & Shine, has already begun inspiring listeners. Enjoy listening to Juliet's inspiring God story and her singing acapella parts of her favorite song!
This powerful message centers on a transformative truth from Isaiah 60:1-2: we are called to arise and shine because God's light has come upon us, even as darkness covers the earth. The sermon challenges us to move beyond simply receiving spiritual impartation to actually becoming conduits of God's presence in a world desperately needing hope. We're reminded that the anointing we receive isn't meant to be hoarded like a precious possession, but rather to flow through us like a river bringing life wherever it goes. The message draws a striking contrast between darkness—represented by hopelessness, injustice, and fear—and the light of Christ that shines through believers. We're confronted with an honest question: are we hiding our light under a basket, or are we boldly positioned on a stand for all to see? The sermon emphasizes that our primary work is simply to believe, and God's work is to accomplish His purposes through us. This isn't about our personal strength or reputation; it's about dying to self-reliance and allowing the Holy Spirit to work powerfully in and through us. We're called to be life-givers, not puddle-makers, letting rivers of living water flow from our hearts to bring healing, restoration, and hope to everyone we encounter.

In a world of darkness we are called to be the Light of Christ. What does that look like? This week Debbie Lester speaks to us about being the light in the darkness and shining bright with the love of God. This is the Timberlake Church Online podcast... thank you for joining us this week!
Arise and shine! As much as morning is not very welcome to a night owl, because our natural tendency, as not a morning person, is to draw the curtain of the sunlight, drown in the darkness, back to sleep. The same is true in the spiritual. We tend to draw back, but when we welcome the light of the dawn, we cannot miss the beautiful sunrise and the life waiting for us. Wake up and experience the fullness of the life that God, our Father has promised to each of His children.
I'm smiling as I release this episode as it is a little difference. I've been using AI for ideas, definitions, and other things the last few months, and I'm so intrigued with how it just knows things – it remembers and it does research so fast. Anyway – the last few weeks I've not gotten any inspiration coming my way for episodes. I've gone through a lot of challenges with support for the work I'm doing in Utah and it has just made life heavy this year. It is hard to be inspiring on this podcast, when I'm not feeling inspired. I need to do better.Just for fun, I asked Copilot to give me some text for an "inspiring 10-minute podcast script for my podcast Unleashing Sister Saints, which is for women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints." It came back with 4-5 segments, and then I asked it to expand each one, so this is what I've got. Copilot has named this episode “Arise and Shine: The Power of Sisterhood in Christ.” So, for this episode I read what AI produced, and it was pretty good, actually! I felt a little inspired myself when I was reading it! :)

This Sunday we celebrate Epiphany, the manifestation of Christ's divinity to the nations. In our first reading, the Prophet Isaiah exhorts God's people saying, “Arise! Shine!” (Isa 60:1). What does it mean for God's people to “shine,” and what happens when they do? Come and see. You can view the whole service here: https://youtube.com/live/ERBNkmCqjvs

DATE: Sunday, January 5, 2025 TEXT: Isaiah 60:1-6 SPEAKER: Pastor Craig Jennings
Our world is a messy, broken place filled with messy, broken people. But if the birth of Jesus tells us anything, it tells us that God is not afraid of a mess. Born in a stable, wrapped in rags, and laid in a feeding trough, the Son of God began His life in a mess. Later, His life ended in a mess, wrapped in rags and nailed to a cross. In between, He mostly hung out with pretty messed up people, and it didn't bother Him one bit! He just kept on loving them, teaching them, and showing them a better way. When He went to the cross, Jesus willingly took all of our messiness – our sin, our junk, our mess – and paid the penalty for it. And He will enter into your life – no matter how messed up it is – if you'll only ask Him. In fact, nothing would give Him greater joy than to hear you say, “Lord, I know I'm messed up. Please come into my life. Forgive me and help me. Fix my brokenness and heal my messiness.” That decision will change your life. The Bible uses a metaphor to describe this change. It's that of light coming into the darkness. In foretelling the coming of the Savior, the prophet Isaiah wrote: “The people walking in darkness have seen a great light… for unto us a child is born; unto us a son is given…and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Is. 9:2, 6)The darkness he talks about isn't a literal night, it is a darkness that covers the soul. But the Good News of Christmas is that the darkness doesn't have the last word. A light has dawned and His name is Jesus. For those who open their hearts to Him, the light of His grace, mercy, and forgiveness will rise in your heart and never stop shining. The light has come! That's good news! But what do we do with that? The same prophet, Isaiah, gave this counsel, “Arise, shine, for your light has come.” (Is. 60:1) Have you received the light of Jesus? Then shine that light to the world around you! As one whose messiness has been cleaned up, arise! Shine! Spread the news! Share the hope! Isaiah 58 tells us that to shine your light is to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke. It's to share your food with the hungry and clothe the naked. And if we do, then God's blessing, provision, and deliverance will appear in our own lives. So, arise, shine, for your light has come! Text: Isaiah 9:2, 6-7; 60:1-3; 58 Originally recorded on December 24, 2006, at Fellowship Missionary Church, Fort Wayne, IN
Isaiah 60:1–3 says this... “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” May we all shine God's light today!

Because the LORD has caused His glory to come to His people, they rise and shine so that nations are drawn to worship the LORD. All the wealth of the world is put into the service of the LORD as He calls sinners to His salvation because He loves people as His treasured possession. The safety of the LORD's kingdom is complete; no enemy shall threaten His people. The abundance of the LORD's kingdom is overwhelming; His people will lack no good thing. The light of the LORD's kingdom is glorious; He Himself will be their Light. Rev. Steve Andrews, pastor at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Lee's Summit, MO, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Isaiah 60:1-22. "The Fifth Evangelist” is a series on Sharper Iron that goes through Isaiah 40-66. Though Isaiah lived one hundred years beforehand, he writes to the people of God in exile in Babylon to assure them that their God reigns and will rescue them through the work of His servant. These promises are fulfilled in Jesus Christ, whose work Isaiah proclaims vividly seven hundred years beforehand.

Christ is our hope. He was the Light, He was the Hope of the Jewish people, but He was also the Hope of the Gentiles. As the people of God, the Messiah is our Light; He is our hope. We have a significant responsibility to ensure those who do not yet know God have an opportunity to experience and know this same Hope.
