This week, we explored Genesis 40 and the life of Joseph, discovering that when life isn't fair, God is still at work. Joseph's example reminds us to serve faithfully where God has placed us, trust Him even when we don't have all the answers, and keep following Him when people disappoint us. Joseph's journey reminds us that God is often doing His deepest work in the seasons that seem the least significant. While Joseph was a slave in a foreign land, God was developing his character, teaching faithfulness, and preparing him for a greater purpose. The lesson is simple but powerful: be faithful where God has you today, because faithfulness in the little things prepares you for God's bigger purpose tomorrow. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. What do you do when you're trying to do the right thing and everything still falls apart? Joseph's story reminds us that faithfulness does not guarantee an easy life, but it does place us in the hands of a faithful God. When circumstances don't make sense, we can rest in the truth that God is working beyond what we can see, redeeming what is broken and accomplishing purposes far greater than we could imagine. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. This week we began our new series on the life of Joseph, one of the Bible's most compelling stories of faith, perseverance, and God's providence. Growing up in a deeply dysfunctional family marked by jealousy, favoritism, and conflict, Joseph's journey reminds us that no family is exempt from chaos, but God is faithful in the midst of it. Together we explored how jealousy can poison relationships and how what we tolerate today often shapes what we encourage tomorrow. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. A More Excellent Way1 Corinthians 13 20260531 AM.m4a
Every person carries a story, but true meaning is found when we recognize God as the Author shaping every chapter for His glory. We explore how God remains present in seasons of brokenness, invites us to come to Christ as we are, and uses every circumstance to form us for His purpose. Through the stories of Joseph and ultimately the cross, we are reminded that no chapter is beyond God's redemption and that our hope is found not in a perfect storyline, but in a perfect Savior. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. Making disciples isn't reserved for pastors or missionaries—it's a calling for every believer. In Matthew 28, Jesus reminds us that disciple-making is not dependent on our ability, but on His authority and presence as we faithfully live out our faith in everyday life. True discipleship happens through intentional relationships, sharing the gospel, and walking alongside others as we grow together in Christ. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. Seeking the Kingdom First
“Do I really have to worship?” misses the point—we all worship because it's part of how we're wired. The real question is "What do we worship?" We find that anything we elevate above God ultimately leaves us empty and unsatisfied. When our worship is rightly centered on Christ, it reorders our lives, reshapes our priorities, and grounds our identity. Worship is more than a moment on Sunday—it's a daily posture of the heart and life. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. Austin Ave in Hutto, TX. Sermon preached by Dr. B.J. Hutto at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
As we explore the question, “Do I really have to take communion?”, 1 Corinthians 11 challenges us to examine not just our participation, but our hearts. Communion is not merely a routine—it is an invitation to remember Christ, receive His grace, and pursue unity with others. Rather than something we have to do, it is a gift that draws us back to Jesus and calls us to come to the table with humility and sincerity. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. Sermon preached by Dr. B.J. Hutto at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
While Christians may differ on how and when baptism is practiced, Scripture consistently presents it as a response to personal faith—a public declaration of new life in Jesus. Baptism is not a burden but a gift, symbolizing forgiveness, identification with Christ, and the assurance of belonging to Him. Though not what saves us, it is a vital step of obedience modeled by Jesus and practiced throughout the early church. Ultimately, baptism tells a powerful story of transformation that both strengthens our faith and points others to Christ. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. Sermon preached by Dr. B.J. Hutto at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church on Sunday, April 19, 2026.
This Easter, we're challenged to simply consider Jesus—not religion or church experiences, but His life, message, and resurrection. In a culture that often claims all paths lead to God, Jesus stands apart with His exclusive claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. His ministry of compassion, His bold identity as the Son of God, and the historical reality of the resurrection demand a response. The invitation is clear: examine the evidence, and consider placing your faith in the One who offers forgiveness, purpose, and eternal life. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. “Do I really have to go to church?” often reveals something deeper than attendance—it exposes whether we approach church as consumers or contributors. Scripture reminds us that the church is not an event or a building, but a people—a body and family where each person plays a vital role in spiritual growth. When we disengage, we drift toward stagnation, but when we invest, we grow, find purpose, and help others do the same. Church shifts from feeling optional to essential when we realize we don't just attend—we belong. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. Austin Ave in Hutto, TX. Nothing in life is truly free—everything carries a cost, whether in time, energy, or sacrifice. On Palm Sunday, we reflect on the ultimate cost of salvation: Jesus willingly endured profound physical, emotional, and spiritual suffering, ultimately giving His life to pay for our sin. His sacrifice not only secured forgiveness but also opened the way for all people to have direct access to God. The question we're left with is this: if this is what it cost, how will we respond—and who do we say Jesus is?Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. This week we tackle the struggle of patience. Through the parable in Mark 12:1-12, we see God's patience as He sends prophets and finally His Son, Jesus, to connect with His people. This week's message from Mark 10 challenged us to examine what it really means to follow Jesus. Like the rich young ruler, many people look for something to do to earn eternal life, yet Jesus calls us instead to surrender our lives to Him. When we release the things we trust more than God, we discover the true treasure of following Christ. Salvation is not achieved by human effort but made possible through God's grace. Our regular service is at 10am on Sundays. We are located at 304 E. Austin Ave in Hutto, TX. Can't make it in person?
