You have a new roommate named “Anxiety” and you never invited her to live with you. If one more thing goes wrong, you don't think you can take it. The circumstances in your life seem to be ganging up on you. But wait a minute. Is it the circumstances or is it something or someone else? Circumstances get way too much credit for the lack of peace. The real problem is often closer to home. It's the person in the mirror. And we all have a person in the mirror, so this episode isn't pointing fingers or playing the blame game. I am included in the list of suspects! We all tend to do things that rob our lives of peace, and it is often unintended. Busy people have the tendency to make mistakes faster! We're flying through life, trying to cram as much into each day as possible before going to bed. And then we wake up, lather, rinse, and repeat. Disturbing our own peace is a habit worth losing. This is a practical episode looking into three common areas where we tend to cause personal disturbances. You already know these things, but reminders often spark changes that were waiting to happen. Let's consider three things we can check and change to restore and protect the peace that God wants us to have. In Daniel 6:14–28, we witness one of the most powerful displays of God's faithfulness in Scripture. Daniel was falsely accused, thrown into a den of lions, and left for dead—but God shut the mouths of the lions and brought him out without a scratch. What the enemy meant for destruction, God turned into divine promotion. In this powerful message, discover how God uses pressure, persecution, and impossible situations to reveal His glory and elevate His people. Just like Daniel, you may be facing opposition, betrayal, or a den of lions—but your story doesn't end in defeat. It ends in victory. The same God who delivered Daniel is still delivering His people today. No matter what you're facing, you are not going under—you're coming out! You're an overcomer through the power of the living God.

Send us a textCarol and Jen welcome guest Wade Milyard.Fresh Step Laundry was founded by Wade Milyard in the summer of 2024. The inspiration for this initiative came from his experiences meeting unhoused individuals in Frederick during his time working as a police officer. He observed firsthand how essential having clean clothes was for their dignity and well-being. Recognizing this critical need, he decided to create a service that offers free laundry services for people facing homelessness. After his retirement in January of 2025, Wade began the process of designing and building a mobile laundry vehicle that could conveniently meet individuals wherever they were. Following the completion of the vehicle's upfitting and necessary preparations, Fresh Step Laundry officially began serving the community on September 4th, 2025. Welcome back to Build Your Bible Habit. This is a habit that you'll never want to break. The practical wisdom from daily Proverbs equips us to walk in wisdom, making us better in handling the multiple decisions and interactions that come our way. God left us a GOLD MINE in His Word, and all we need to do is read it and apply it to our lives. The peace of God is not related to our circumstances. It is a result of walking with Him. Friendship is one of many areas touched on in Proverbs 27, and verse 17 gives us a chance to consider friendship from two angles: the kind of friends we choose and the kind of friend that we are to others. God meant for us to keep each other spiritually sharp. Here's a great reminder verse for the week: "Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend." Welcome to an unusual episode on Keep the Heart. This episode, "When You Can't Find the Bed of Roses," was inspired by an email from a disillusioned letter writer. This young woman who wrote the email made this statement: “I feel like I was told before marriage, growing up, in my teens, and as a young adult, that living the Christian life is wonderful, and a bed of roses.” The key phrase in her statement is this: “I feel like…” Feelings are not the same as facts, and there are times when what we hear and how we perceive it are not the same. I am grateful that this writer did not say, “Someone told me that the Christian life would be a bed of roses.” Still, somehow this young woman got a faulty impression. This episode is dedicated to the young woman who sent the email, and anyone else who has discovered that the Christian life is not what you thought it would be. You may want to grab your journal to jot some notes. The email is being used as the basis for this episode with permission, and the letter writer remains anonymous. You may hear some things that you've been wondering about as well. VISIT THE SHOP AT KEEP THE HEART FOR BOOKS, BIBLE STUDIES & MORE! When I noticed today's guest, Maureen Miller, wearing pearl earrings during her interview, I remembered hearing pearls held meaning for her, so I asked her to tell me about them.Author and speaker Maureen Miller shared that she loves pearls because the adversity - the things we go through, the challenges we face - are similar to the sand that agitates an oyster. A valuable treasure - a pearl - is produced because of the agitation or challenge. And God produces a valuable treasure - us - as a result of the agitations and challenges we face.Maureen shares about the challenges she faced as a teenager and young adult (sexual impurity and an eating disorder), as well as the challenge of learning she would not be able to have children with God performing a miracle.Throughout each of these challenges, Maureen sought God, desiring to follow His will for her life. Notable quotes:* "The oyster is just this creature in the ocean, and a bit of sand gets in there and agitates the oyster. It's uncomfortable and it's not fun, I'm sure. Over time what is produced is this valuable treasure . . . the pearl."* "We were still making choices that were not God's best for us. And as we know, those ungodly choices hold consequences."* "God has us under a protective umbrella when we obey Him, but when we disobey Him it's like we've stepped out from under that umbrella."Bible verses:* Philippians 4:8* Hebrews 13:5* Genesis 2:24* James 1:6* Proverbs 26:11* Psalm 37:4* Hebrews 4:12Maureen's fight verse is Psalm 62:5, which reads, "My soul waits silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him." Welcome back to Build Your Bible Habit, where you can listen to a chapter of Proverbs in under five minutes! The practical book of Proverbs is an excellent way to draw closer to God while learning how to walk in wisdom. God uses the wisdom of His Word to guide and instruct us. This is especially helpful when we face situations that are puzzling or unexpected. God promises incredible rewards to the overcomer. The question is... who is the overcomer? Some say all believers are overcomer. Some say only faithful believers are overcomers. What does the Bible say? That is the key question. Join us in this episode of Wisdom from Above as we investigate the identity of the overcomer.

Pastor Davidson reminded us that God has called us to live as a spiritual people, walking in the Spirit so we can overcome the world. Through an everyday relationship with Him, we gain strength, power, and a deeper understanding of who we are and whose we are. Following Jesus is a daily choice, denying ourselves, picking up our cross, and fully surrendering to God's will. One powerful way to do this is through fasting, which helps us overcome the flesh and become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit leads, breakthrough follows. As the Church, we are entering a season that requires full surrender. Prayer and fasting stir our spiritual senses and prepare us for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God moves in a praying, seeking, hungry church. Let us pursue Him with humility, expectation, and faith, trusting that He will speak and move in powerful ways as we prepare ourselves and our hearts for the Daniel Fast. Welcome back to Build Your Bible Habit, your audio Proverbs series! Scientists disagree about how long it takes to build a good habit, with estimates ranging from 21 days to months! What that really means is this: they don't know the answer. God knows this: If we continue to read and eventually study His Word, applying what we learn as we grow, we will be transformed and improved habits will follow. God's key tool of transformation is missing when we're not in His Word. You renew your mind through the renewing power of the Bible. If you are tired of making messes in your life and dealing with the cleanup, it's time for change. Building your Bible habit will help!
