This is one of the most popular podcast episodes - for good reason! Why does exercise feel so different after an autoimmune diagnosis? Activities that our bodies loved in the past can now cause an autoimmune flare. Yet, not moving at all isn't healthy either. So, what do we do? In this podcast, we get professional insight into this topic. My guest, Andrea Wool, is a fellow autoimmune warrior, certified personal trainer, and founder of Autoimmune Strong - a fitness website designed specifically for people with autoimmune disease. We all know exercise is good for us, but have you ever felt that actually, something about the way you're exercising and moving your body isn't feeling good for you?The whole premise behind exercise is that it's a stress that we put on our bodies, and it's that stress and consequent recovery that goes on to build strength and fitness. But in a body where chronic illness or auto immune disease exists, stress, in the very broad and multi-layered sense of the term, is something that's already very present, both as a pre-cursor to illness and disease, and as a result of it.So what does that say for the way we move our bodies and exercise, and how can we make sure that we're not overloading our systems, triggering flares or deeper or more recurrent illness, and how can we, in fact, do it in a way that feels good and supports our body's ability to heal?Today I'm speaking with Andrea Wool, personal trainer and founder of Autoimmune Strong; the first exercise program designed specifically for people living with autoimmune disease. Her exercise program has now supported thousands of people who love learning how to exercise safely, effectively and in a way that makes their body feel good.LINKS:Get Autoimmune Strong - Website - https://www.getautoimmunestrong.com/Get Autoimmune Strong - InstagramMY LINKS:Click here to sign up to the Your Chronic Illness Ally waitlistJoin the Reframing Chronic Illness newsletter here Hosted on Acast. Andrea Wool, the founder of Autoimmune Strong,  is a mom, a personal trainer, a nutritional therapy practitioner, an entrepreneur, and an autoimmune warrior. When Andrea started  Autoimmune Strong — the first and only exercise program designed specifically for people living with autoimmune disease — she never imagined she'd eventually hire staff and end up helping thousands of others. It started as an experiment, driven by a simple question: What can I do to feel better? As a former distance runner living with fibromyalgia and Hashimoto's, just getting a diagnosis was a challenge. Her next hurdle? Finding the energy to play with her kids at the park. When doctors couldn't help, Andrea took matters into her own hands. She knew there had to be a better way. With lots of research, some continuing education, and lots of trial and error, she found it.  Now she's using what she's learned to help as many people as possible—and she's taken up powerlifting along the way. Connect with Andreawebsite: www.getautoimmunestrong.comInstagram: @getautoimmunestrongFacebook @autoimmunestrongFor full details visit: https://pam-moore.com/2021/09/08/andrea-wool-autoimmune-strong-founder-on-thriving-with-autoimmune-disease/***If you enjoyed this episode, please consider buying me a cup of coffee***Have a question you'd like me to answer on the podcast?Ask it right hereSign up for my newsletter and get a FREE GIFT, a quick and dirty guide to beating Impostor Syndrome.Want to know my secrets for getting published in top publications? They're all in my e-book, 7 Pitches That Sold.
