After a summer hiatus, I am more than happy to be back with my podcast bestie Ali Damron. This was inspired by some BS we both keep seeing on Instagram. We are going to dive into his 4 Pillars of Goal Achievement, which are 1. Physical 2. Willpower 3. iOS 4. Future Self I recently heard Mike speak at a coaching event and this was by far my favorite one. I also believe that when someone has actually gone through all the things(chronic diet, body dysmorphia, orthorexia) you know they've done the work. We talk about both of our journeys and we go into detail about the 4 Pillars above. When it comes down to it, the nutrition and the working out are the easy part, its the mindset shift. When the conditions stay the same, but your behavior changes then there is progress! Celebrating when bad shit DOESN'T happen. I think you guys are going to love this as much as I did. I cracked the code! I realized why so many women are eating 1500 calories and I'm spilling the beans.Yes, 1500 is better than 1200, but it's still not enough friends. In this episode I cover: What maintenance is and why it is so important to spend time eating at your maintenance level calories Why you might *think* you're only eating 1200 or 1500 calories, but you're not. What you need to do to actually maintain in maintenance. Why I am prioritizing teaching about maintenance over perimenopause. Today on the podcast I'm talking with my friend Joe Eiben, this is his fourth time on the podcast. We are talking about polarity in fitness and nutrition. I just love Joe and his perspective on all things. Joe is a Psychotherapist, Professional Coach, Holistic Nutritionist, Writer and yogi. We dive into how our cultural is living with anxiety and overwhelm as a base and we can't exhale. We are at war from an internal and external standpoint and it's due to a lack of meaningful connection with others. We can't eliminate it, we have to figure out how to work around it. We have to have a lot of patience and grace with ourselves. We talk about steps to help ourselves and the first is acceptance of yourself, second is to act like the person you want to be, and most importantly try not to over complicate things. This is an amazing conversation, Joe is so insightful and knowledgeable and I think you're going to love it and relate to it. When we know better, we can do better and embrace what we can control and have a say in. If you want to work with Joe, the best place to do so is his website and you can find that HERE. Today on Far From Perfect we are talking to nutrition coach Lisa Deluca, who also happens to be a coach within Elemental Coaching, on what's the deal with gut health? How does it effect us as a whole. You don't know how good you can feel, until you do!! Lisa goes over the two ways to help/"fix' you gut; restoration or an elimination diet. Restoration is going to do an overall haul of your gut and require a stool sample. An elimination diet is a great place to start just to see how you feels. She tells us about Good bacteria(which should occupy about 80%) and Bad bacteria(which should occupy 20%). How most people have this reversed, so you can understand where the problem lies, when your rations are out of whack. She give us a few suggested supplements, with the advice of 'you get what you pay for'. Keeping in mind that a probiotic doesn't need to be refrigerated, but should be spore based. Gut health and nutrition can go hand in hand, and while correcting your nutrition can move mountains, sometimes there are underlying issues that need to be addressed. Jocelyn is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, pelvic floor specialist and Level 2 Crossfit Trainer. She specializes in helping women get back to fitness after a hysterectomy, myomectomy or endometriosis excision without pain, prolapse or peeing themselves. Jocelyn was inspired to do this work through her own experience with uterine fibroids. Having 3 open abdominal surgeries between 26 and 32 years old, she saw the lack of resources for women healing from these major operations. Women deserve better support. Today we are discussing all the things you guys! We start off talking about hysterectomies, endometriosis, adenomyosis, what these are, and that having these surgeries doesn't mean you life is over, you can find a path back to life, lifting and all the things, and that's where Jocelyn comes in. We also discuss prolapse, what It is, when it begins and what we can do about it. How and where hormone therapy fits in. To be clear hormone therapy can't work if you're not supporting yourself with adequate nutrition. Strength Training is the magic pill!!! Paul has co-authored studies outlining the effectiveness of chronic disease prevention through lifestyle modification and believes that evidence-based interventions are the key to sustainable behavior change. Paul has been a competitive, drug free bodybuilder for the past 15 years, earning his professional status in 2018. Using evidence-based methods, he has worked with competitive bodybuilders, a wide range of strength and endurance athletes, as well as people looking to maintain fat loss and improve their quality of life. . In this episode of Far From Perfect I wanted Paul to give us insight into what it really takes to step on stage as a body building competitor. Whether that's as a female doing bikini or figure to a man doing classic physique and men's physique. We as lay people see these bodies on social media all the time and many think those bodies are #goals. Paul explains what it actually takes and if the sport is a good fit for you. There are definitely some trade-offs. . In addition to our bodybuilding chat, we talk a lot about purpose and values and living in alignment with who you truly want to be.
