The Miami Hurricanes have flipped 4-star ATH Collins Acheampong from his verbal commitment to Michigan. Collins plays to arrive to Coral Gables in January as an early enrollee. He's 6'7 255 lbs and will play edge rusher at The U. Miami never gave up on recruiting him after his initial commitment to Michigan back in July. Collins is now trying to recruit his friend Enow Etta, another Michigan commit, to flip with him to Miami.Host Alex Donno explains what makes Acheampong so special and tells his story about why he decided to leave #2 Michigan in favor of 5-7 Miami. Collins has the type of background and work ethic that Miami needs more of. Can Miami get his friend Etta, another 4-star defensive lineman, in for an official visit next month? Meanwhile, the Miami Hurricanes are trying to flip 4-star defensive back Ja'Keem Jackson from his Florida Gators commit. Jackson says Miami has been relentlessly recruiting him and that Cormani McClain wants them to play together on the Canes. Miami has lost safety Avantae Williams to the transfer portal. The former 4-star recruit has 3 years of eligibility left. Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal said “we're not gonna create drama or narratives” when asked about safety Avantae Williams, who indicated on his social media that he isn't happy about his lack of playing time. Mario spoke highly of Williams and says he met with Avantae personally to have a straightforward conversation. Playing time at Miami is earned in practice, not given. Williams still has plenty of time to earn opportunities on the field. Host Alex Donno talks about matchups and keys to victory for the Hurricanes this weekend. Miami is set to face Texas A&M on the road. The Aggies will feel tons of pressure to bounce back after getting upset at home by Appalachian State. The Hurricanes will need to start faster on offense than they have the first two games. The Aggies have looked vulnerable against the run, but Miami will also need to establish a downfield passing attack from Tyler Van Dyke and his receivers. Donno expects the Aggies to focus heavily on Xavier Restrepo, so others like Key'Shawn Smith, Brashard Smith and Jacolby George will need to step up. Plus, the tight end room will need to be better. Will Mallory and Elijah Arroyo should get a ton of targets this week. Alex discusses Miami's defensive approach for this week. No matter which quarterback the Canes face, Haynes King or Max Johnson, Jimbo Fisher's offense will not change. Miami will try to shut down the Aggies running game and force the quarterbacks to beat them. Miami will need to fix the soft spots in their secondary and hopefully see more positive play from Corey Flagg at linebacker and from the entire pass rush. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!LinkedInLinkedIn jobs helps you find the candidates you want to talk to, faster. The Miami Hurricanes have finished fall camp 2022, so we review the camp MVPs on offensive and defense. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, who finished last season on a record pace, looks to have picked up where he left off with improving accuracy and leadership. On defense, safeties Avantae Williams and James Williams have been major attention-getters, while Miami's defensive line has been consistently disruptive. Luke Chaney from AllHurricanes.com joins host Alex Donno to recap fall camp and which players stood out most. Luke also puts the spotlight on offensive tackle John Campbell, who has filled in admirably for injured starting left tackle Zion Nelson (expected back soon) and running back Jaylan Knighton who is playing like an absolute weapon out of the backfield. Luke updates Miami's current injury situation. Freshman running back TreVonte' Citizen has a significant injury, RB Don Chaney should only miss a handful of games, and OT Nelson should be ready by Texas A&M on September 17th. Donno shares a report from CaneSport about committed class of 2023 quarterback Emory Williams, who appears to be turning down visits from other Universities to stand firm with The Hurricanes. Competitions are brewing at Miami Hurricanes fall camp. Jacolby George has looked great so far and has been getting lots of time with the first team wide receivers. Frank Ladson and Xavier Restrepo (slot) have been primarily running with the starters, too. On defense, there's a lot to like about safety Avantae Williams, who may be in store for a true breakout season.Guest Luke Chaney from AllHurricanes.com on Sports Illustrated joins host Alex Donno to discuss progress through four days of practices. The guys break down Miami's offensive line with players working on zone blocking for the run game and most linemen cross-training at multiple different positions. With starting left tackle Zion Nelson likely to miss week 1, John Campbell is favored to be the opening day left tackle. Competitions are brewing at Miami Hurricanes fall camp. Jacolby George has looked great so far and has been getting lots of time with the first team wide receivers. Frank Ladson and Xavier Restrepo (slot) have been primarily running with the starters, too. On defense, there's a lot to like about safety Avantae Williams, who may be in store for a true breakout season. Guest Luke Chaney from AllHurricanes.com on Sports Illustrated joins host Alex Donno to discuss progress through four days of practices. The guys break down Miami's offensive line with players working on zone blocking for the run game and most linemen cross-training at multiple different positions. With starting left tackle Zion Nelson likely to miss week 1, John Campbell is favored to be the opening day left tackle. The Miami Hurricanes wrapped up spring 2022 with a solid outing at their spring game on Saturday April 16th at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Head coach Mario Cristobal noted his appreciation afterwards for his team's physicality and hopes they can make it sustainable. The offensive line looked sharp and opened things up for running backs Henry Parrish, Thad Franklin and walk-on Devon Perry to have solid performances. On the defense, true freshman Cyrus Moss and transfer Jacob Lichteinstein looked powerful and disruptive.Host Alex Donno notes the various improvements he saw in Miami's physicality in all phases of the game and how Cristobal's superb coaching staff can continue that development. We also saw improved coverage from defensive backs like DJ Ivey, Te'Cory Couch, Avantae Williams, James Williams and Isaiah Dunson. Donno also wonders how high of a standard new coaches like linebackers coach Charlie Strong, DB's coach Jahmile Addae and defensive analyst Jason Taylor can create.Donno dives into the unofficial stats for the quarterbacks and running backs from the spring game. Tyler Van Dyke led the offense with authority and made plenty of plays despite notable drops from some of his top wide receivers. The running backs performed well despite Jaylen Knighton and Don Chainey both missing the game due to injury. Can Miami take this momentum from spring to fall and continue to raise the level of their football culture? We continue to spread the positivity on the Miami Hurricanes football roster for the 2022 season. Yes, there are some flawed position groups, but there don't appear to be many flaws with the safeties and a handful of gifted wide receivers. Former 5-star recruit James Williams heads into his sophomore season as a Miami safety and possesses the talent and size to be one of the nation's best. He's complimented well by Avantae Williams and Kam Kinchens who also bring a ton of promise to the safeties room. Plus, the coaching from former Georgia DB's coach Jahmile Addae should help them develop well.Alex Donno also praises a great quote from sophomore wide receiver Xavier Restrepo who looks to become one of the leaders of the Miami Hurricanes offense. Miami has the ingredients to compete for an ACC championship, but how far can they go? Donno analyzes a recent prediction from the staff at 247 Sports on how many games the Canes will win in 2022 and whether they're too high on Miami's prospects or not high enough. We take a look at Miami's schedule and identify which games are easy wins, which ones Miami will need a little luck, and which look virtually un-winnable.Donno takes a look at the progress in practice from the early-enrollee freshman like Jacurri Brown, Cyrus Moss, Jaleel Skinner and Wesley Blissainthe who seem to be ahead of schedule so far. Orange Bowl BoysChapter #10: Lucky Number SevynShow NotesNot gonna lie, we love this episode! We start things off talking abolut our TV experience this past week and the mental issues that came with that for one of us. Then we went down to Greentree and talked about the Strong hire Mario made this week on the defensive side of the ball. The highlight though was our interview with the one and only Avantae Williams! Spent a solid half hour with him talking about football and life…really impressive young man. Finally, we did our offseason special 5 Questions! Hope you enjoy and have a great week!Lastly: SportsPodcastAwards.com has us as finalists in 2 categories: College Sports Podcast of the Year (Orange Bowl Boys) and Comedy Sports Podcast of the Year (Benched).
