Growing a quality, desirable crop with palatable input costs is an accomplishment. But, growing a quality crop with palatable input costs that consumers demand and that sells consistently is a whole different beast. As a fresh produce supplier, it seems developing quality relationships and rapport with produce buyers is the secret sauce to selling through and is something that more suppliers should lean into. That's the reason we had James Williams, the Business Development Manager at Intergrow Greenhouses, Inc. onto the #LeadersTalkCrops series of CropTalk podcast to share how, as a produce supplier, he develops and nurtures relationships with produce buyers. The insights James shares are extremely valuable, but even more so because he has served as both the produce buyer and supplier during his career. Until next time, #startcleanstayclean

Feeling down about sales? Truthfully, it can be overwhelming putting yourself and your offers out there for others to see (and purchase). I totally understand your reservations here, and I want you to know that you are definitely not alone. I think about how many people have incredible offers sitting in their hearts, minds, or computers but who let their fears or uncertainties about sales keep them from sharing their value with others. This episode is a great way to remind you that it's not just about having something to offer, but you have to know how to sell it before you can start using whatever that thing” is to impact the lives of others. So, this is a special episode all about sales, featuring my husband, James Williams. James is an impactful high-performance coach here at I Heart My Life. After he did this incredible training all about the secret to approaching sales with the I Heart Coaching students a few days ago, I knew I had to share it here, too. Sales is one aspect of business where entrepreneurs (especially coaches) are always looking for support. One of the (many) things I love and admire about James is his ability to break down this topic in a super simple way that has you feeling confident about your offer and guilt-free about putting it out into the world. Now, if you are someone who struggles with sales or feels sleazy charging for your products or services, this is the perfect episode for you. In fact, when James first started in the industry, the ideas of sales made him uncomfortable. Now he understands how imperative sales are to the success and longevity of any business and, in this episode, he shares some of his best tips for approaching sales in your business. Follow along as James explains why passion is at the heart of all successful sales. If you don’t believe in what you are selling, you can’t expect anyone else to believe (or invest) in it either. Luckily, in this episode, he reveals his entire recipe for successful sales. Whether you're showing up on Instagram, running a Facebook ad, or hopping on a sales call, he offers tangible advice that you can apply to your business and offers ASAP. Listen as he explains how you need to believe in what you are selling before you can expect anyone else to believe in it, reminding us that we are always our number one client. He even guides you through a series of questions you can ask yourself as a checkpoint before you put the offer out there. He then goes on to explain how to find the sweet spot for your sales. It’s all about honing in on your product or service and identifying (and truly understanding) your ideal client. Lastly, he offers advice about the delivery of your sales, especially when it comes to how you are expressing your offer on sales calls. You have to remember that your sales are about future value. If you continuously find yourself getting caught up in the stress of the moment of the sales call, remind yourself that you are there to offer a product or service that will make that person’s life better. There is so much insight to pull from this episode, but remember, it’s only as powerful as how you implement it in your business. In this episode… [04:23] Why you can stop feeling sleazy about sales. [06:48] To be a good coach, you have to be a good salesperson (and vice versa). [07:34] Believing in your offer is an essential component of sales. [08:57] Finding the sales “sweet spot” for your product or service. [12:00] Learn the importance of passion for your business and successful sales. [15:50] Understanding your ideal client (how it helps you sell them what they want and need). [20:54] Why you need to be able to explain the ROI. [23:18] Why sales expression matters (and how you can practice it). [27:55] A quick recap of the recipe for sales success. Quotes: “To be a business owner, no matter what level you're at and no matter what position you have, you have to know how to sell. “ -James Williams “It's really easy to passionately talk about something you believe in, right? If you believe in something, you can sell it. So what does that tell you? You need to believe in what you're selling." -James Williams “There's no trick here. Create something great. Believe it and sell it. That's simple.” -James Williams “It's your job to explain the ROI. It’s your job to explain how the investment is a small percentage of the overall game. Not only financially, but internally with confidence, more choices and freedom, relationships, everything.” -James Williams “Don't assume that they know what the ROI is because they might be just thinking of one little thing. They have no idea that, let's say you're a business coach, it's also going to allow them to feel confident and happy, which can improve their relationships and their health and how they show up and how they stand and what they wear and how they feel about themselves.” -James Williams “Really explain the ROI, which means that before any sales calls, you want to be writing down and have a full description of all the benefits of your program. Everything that you can possibly imagine. And then you line up those benefits, with what you've learned about your client before you get on that call.” -James Williams Links & Resources: Subscribe to the Podcast: I Heart My Life Show on Apple Podcasts I Heart My Life Show on Spotify Connect with Emily: I Heart My Life Website I Heart My Life on Instagram I Heart My Life on Facebook I Heart My Life on LinkedIn I Heart My Lifers Community Email: firstname.lastname@example.org Book a Call Episode Sponsor: Business Intensive Coaching Workshop

...And we’re back! In this episode, James and I review the rest of our top lessons from 2020. While this past year had its fair share of ups and downs, we cannot deny the endless opportunities to learn and the immense growth and personal development that took place. We’ve spent a lot of time discussing how changes and challenges help make us stronger and more resilient. They open important doors in the realm of personal and professional development. It’s what you do in the face of change and challenge that really determines the trajectory of the outcome. While we’re excited to be back and share our thoughts and lessons from this year, we encourage you to think about the lessons you’ve learned. To consider how you’ve grown. Whether some of your biggest lessons are the same as ours or not, we hope that in sharing these, you can head into the new year with actionable steps that will prepare you to step into your dreams in 2021. So, as you listen, consider what you can take away from our lessons and how they can inspire you to take action in your own life. Because that’s what it’s all about, right? Taking action? If James and I went through this whole year, especially the challenges, and chose not to do anything differently, chose not to make any changes, chose not to face the realizations or have honest conversations with ourselves and others, our business wouldn’t be thriving in the way it is today. We wouldn’t be fulfilled in the ways we are today. So, listen as we not only share more lessons from 2020 but how we took actions (or plan to) and made changes for the better. We encourage you to do the same because life is all about learning and growing. 2020 was a great reminder that, while we can’t control what life will throw at us, we can control how we respond to it. This two-part series is more than just the lessons we learned from 2020, it’s also a celebration. We celebrate each other’s growth. We’re proud of the growth of the business and the IHML Community. We want to celebrate yours too. We believe that no matter what 2020 looked like for you, you can reach your goals faster. You can have more joy in your life, improve your health, make more money-- whatever it is you desire. It starts by taking action. So tag us on Instagram @iheartmylife or email us at info@Iheartmylife.com and tell us how you are going to take action in the new year. If you don’t know where to start, we’ve got your back. And one of the things I think people can do to really check-in is just ask yourself, am I in alignment?” -Emily Williams “It's never about being this perfect human being. And I think that we will always fall off the horse and make mistakes, but it's about the bounce back.” -James Williams “As the years come to us in the future, we don't know what's going to be thrown at us. We don't know what challenges the world is going to face. The one thing you always have control over is how you respond to it.” -James Williams
I feel like 2020 has prepared us for just about anything life can throw at us, am I right? I mean, this year was definitely filled with many ups and downs, but they all served as lessons we could learn and grow from. As we look forward to the year ahead, I want to support you as you set yourself up for success. So, in addition to listening to this episode, I invite you to download our free (and incredible) New Year’s Guide. At IHML, we recognize the value in learning from our experience, including the good, the bad, and the ugly. No matter the year, our mission is to help you step into your dream and live your best life. Now, knowing that 2020 was filled with unexpected challenges and unprecedented change, we wanted to share some of the most important realizations we had and lessons we learned this year in hopes of inspiring you to confidently move into the new year. This is a special episode of a two-part installment where James and I share our top 10 lessons from 2020. In this episode, listen as James and I talk through the first half of our list of lessons from 2020. These lessons have helped us find success (personally and professionally) despite the chaos and change this year brought. The best part? These lessons can be applied to next year and beyond for continued growth and prosperity. We talk about everything from how the pandemic showed us the benefit of being able to pivot (and led to some amazing virtual events), the importance of getting clear around your purpose (and then staying true to it), and the perks of keeping it simple. We talk about why you need to show up as yourself, getting what you pay for, and why recovery is just as important (if not more) than putting in the effort. Seriously, there’s a lot of good stuff in there. You don’t want to miss it. I love to have you tuning into the show, but I want to remind you of the importance of taking action. I hope you can learn from what we shared today and I hope this episode inspires you to reflect back on the lessons you learned from your life in 2020. More importantly, I would love to see you implement some of these teachings in your own life and business. In fact, I’d love for you to email us at info.Iheartmylife.com and tell us how you are going to take action in the new year. We love hearing about the changes our community is making in their lives. Speaking of taking action, don’t forget to tune into our next episode of the IHML Show to hear the second half of our list! In this episode… [00:01] Hear about our new (and free) Near Year’s Guide! And self-care is how you take that power back no matter what is happening in the world.” -James Williams

When’s the last time you focused on what makes you happy? Do you worry that doing more for yourself is going to negatively impact the important relationships in your life? You aren’t the only one, my friend. So many of us get trapped in this idea that putting others first is the magical ingredient to successful relationships. That’s simply not true. In fact, the opposite is true. This episode is all about why and how the success of your relationships with others depends on your ability to put yourself first I know, it sounds counterintuitive. But it really makes a lot of sense when you dig deeper. So yes, I’m here to tell you that it is okay to be selfish. The truth is, the individual is just as important as the relationship. In romance, we get so caught up in this idea of finding the person who “completes” us that we lose sight of what makes us happiest and healthiest. We spend so much time worrying about how others are going to judge our decisions and trying to do what we think will create the least amount of conflict. However, if you think about it, successful relationships are about communication, not judgement. That’s why James and I recorded this episode. We wanted to talk about how focusing on and learning about ourselves keeps our relationship strong. We’ve been able to grow together as individuals and a couple and we hope the journey we’ve been on in our relationship can help you reflect upon your own. Oh,and don’t get caught up by the word “relationship” here. The advice we dive into in this episode is seriously for anyone. Our advice can be applied to relationships with friends, spouses, teammates (even spouses who are teammates), you name it. Taking care of yourself is the best thing you can do for any relationship. That’s why we use this episode to discuss just why it’s so imperative to be able to define what makes you happy and why you need to stop making yourself wrong for whatever that may be. We touch upon the importance of being honest and speaking your truth in relationships. We also look into how our relationships are actually a reflection of our relationship with ourselves (including the judgements and fears we have!). Lastly, we touch upon why having differences is okay (and how to know when a relationship is no longer serving you). We hope this episode can help you understand why creating a positive, strong, healthy relationship with yourself will open the door for you to have an incredible relationship with your spouse (or anyone else in your life). And if this episode inspires you and you are looking for more support in being true to your more authentic self and transforming your mindset, remember that the IHML Community is about so much more than business. Head over to iheartmylifebooking.com to book a call with us to learn about how we can help transform your business and life. In this episode… [02:37] Welcome back, James! [03:49] Hear why the individual is just as important as the couple. [05:47] What has James learned about himself over the years to lead to a better relationship? [08:12] “What makes you happy?” [09:16] Hear how not making herself wrong has improved Emily’s relationships. [10:20] Our fear of others’ judgements are really our judgments of ourselves. [12:09] Relationships don’t have to last together if they’re not right. [15:12] The importance of being honest and speaking your truth. [19:35] Our relationships are a reflection of our relationship with ourselves. [21:53] Understanding that it is okay to have differences. [26:44] Decoding the phrase “relationships take work.” [28:13] Why you should be more selfish. Because if you're not your everything, how on earth can you expect to be making the choices that are going to make you happy? If you can't be your everything, and you're putting that on someone else, you're taking your own power away to resolve the inevitable challenges that come along with life.” -James Willaims “I think we all have these rules in our minds about what relationships are supposed to look like, how we're supposed to behave. And then of course, there's gender roles. And it's just in our perspective, the most important thing has been to be honest, and to honor ourselves and to essentially put ourselves first.” -Emily Williams “All great teams are made up of individuals who are authentic and owning their mastery to the best of their ability. And then the skill is to take those individuals and match them in a way that creates a result.“ -James Williams
On this bonus episode of Behind the Pages, we speak with JEiE editors Sweta Shah and Ragnhild Dybdahl, who are leading the development of two special thematic issues that will be published in 2021. James Williams is one of the best High-Performance coaches that I know. A longtime friend from the High-Performance community, James and I have been on Facebook Lives together as The Socially Ambitious Chatterboxes. His insights here guide us to new heights! James reminds us not to believe the expectations that others have for us. He noted that though he stayed in a job too long, staying shaped who he became and that our history serves us. He noted that he got “average” because he was focused on average and that his life changed when he focused on more. He stepped into his purpose and began to build his legacy. Your purpose directs your thoughts. James challenges us to Live Consciously and notes that doing so can be exhausting. Letting go of judgment is important, especially if you choose to step into the life of the entrepreneur. Remember that no matter the situation, you always have a choice in how you respond to that situation. Your responsibility is to recognize your response-ability. Build “the business of me.” James reflects on hiking as a metaphor noting that when things are the hardest is when you’re about to breakthrough! EPISODE #339: Interview with author Eric K. Washington, author of “Boss of the Grips: The Life of James H. Williams and the Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal”. The Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal were a workforce of hundreds of African-American men who were an essential part of the long-distance railroad experience. Passengers relied on Red caps for more than simply grabbing their bags -- they were navigators, they helped with taxis, offered advice, and provided a warm greeting. In his 2019 book, “Boss of the Grips: The Life of James H. Williams and the Red Caps of Grand Central Terminal”, author Eric K. Washington tells the remarkable story of Williams, “The Chief” of the Grand Central Red Caps. He was a boss to many, a friend to thousands of passengers, and a confidant to celebrities, politicians… even occupants of the White House. He also tells the story of Grand Central Terminal, and specifically, of the Red Caps who worked here, especially during the Terminal’s heyday in the first half of the 20th century. And along the way, the book chronicles how New York’s African-American enclaves and communities developed and moved around the city. That huge story is told through the lens of this one, often underappreciated, and yet instrumental man -- James Williams. He was the chief of the Red Caps, but also an under-reported figure in the Harlem Renaissance. www.boweryboyshistory.com www.patreon.com/boweryboys Support the show: https://www.patreon.com/boweryboys See omnystudio.com/policies/listener for privacy information.
