This week on "Radio Architecture with Ilana Razbash", Ilana's special guest is Dr Ella Dreyfus. Ella is an award-winning photographer, visual artist, academic and Head of Public Programs at the National Art School, with a PhD in Fine Arts from UNSW. She is the writer, director and producer of the documentary film "Dreyfus Drei". The film is co-produced by the Goethe-Institut and co-directed by Janis Westphal, Sevenpeaks Films, Berlin. The world premiere of Dreyfus Drei was at the Delphi Theatre, Berlin and has screened at over 40 film festivals and cultural institutions, winning three Best Documentary Awards at international film festivals.

Chris Waters is a 20-year veteran of animation and television development and production for kids/family and adult audiences.  He currently serves as CPO of Playground Productions, an independent studio focused on development, finance and distribution of kids' and family content and co-founder of NounsFest, which funds and distributes independent animation globally. Prior to that, he served as head of development for nine-time Emmy® Award-winning Stoopid Buddy Stoodios (Robot Chicken, Crossing Swords, MODOK, Ultra City Smiths) and was co-founder of Oktobor Animation (Kung Fu Panda Legends of Awesomeness, Penguins of Madagascar, Robot and Monster). Chris lives in Los Angeles and wakes up early every New Year's Day to attend the Rose Parade, so making the “Shark Pickle Cone” documentary was a dream come true.   Neil Berkeley is an Emmy-nominated filmmaker. His third feature film, GILBERT, follows the life and career of beloved and intensely private comedian, Gilbert Gottfried. The film had its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017 and was distributed by Gravitas Ventures with exclusive SVOD on Hulu. His first feature film, BEAUTY IS EMBARASSING, premiered at SXSW in 2012 and chronicles inspiring artist Wayne White. The film won several Best Documentary Awards and was featured in PBS' Independent Lens in January of 2013. His second feature, HARMONTOWN, premiered at SXSW in 2014 and follows self-destructive TV writer Dan Harmon on an emotional, cross- country journey of self-discovery. Michael Webber is a motion picture producer/director who spent much of his early career producing scripted, theatrical films released by studios such as 20th Century Fox and Lionsgate. In 2010, Webber departed from the world of fiction films to pursue his passion project, a ground-breaking cine ma-verite  documentary about the underground exotic pet trade in the US titled, The Elephant in the Living Room. The film would go on to win 5 Best Documentary Awards, earning its place among the top-rated films of the year and releasing as the #1 Independent Film in the US.  Webber was awarded the coveted Genesis Award from the Humane Society of the United States for his contribution to animal welfare in his motion picture work.  He has been featured guest on countless television and radio talk shows, including appearances The Today show, ABC World News Tonight, NBC Nightly New, and Nightline.  His work was also the subject of an ABC 20/20 special. His most recent documentary is a continuation of his investigative work into exotic animal trafficking in the US, but from an angle that nobody saw coming.  Titled, The Conservation Game, Webber's new film blows the lid off America's most beloved television conservationists, exposing their secret connections to the exotic animal trade and their decades long ruse on the American public.  The film started off its world premiere with a bang, winning a Social Justice Award and has movie critics drawing comparisons to Blackfish. According to Variety, the film has recently scored a raft of international film sales and is just now releasing in the US after a limited theatrical run.

Zak Piper is an Emmy-winning Documentary Producer who previously served as Director of Production at Kartemquin Films for more than a decade. Most recently, Zak produced Saving Mes Aynak, which follows an Afghan archaeologist as he and his team race to save a 2,000-year-old Buddhist archaeological site in Afghanistan from imminent demolition by a Chinese copper mine. The film premiered at IDFA in 2014 and is being represented by Autlook Film Sales for international distribution. Zak also produced the critically acclaimed film Life Itself, which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and was an official selection of the 67th Cannes Film Festival. For this film, Zak received the Producers Guild of America award for Outstanding Producer of a Documentary Theatrical Motion Picture. The film was also nominated for a Gotham Award for Best Documentary and 5 Cinema Eye Honors. The National Board of Review and Broadcast Film Critics Association awarded Life Itself their Best Documentary Awards while Entertainment Weekly listed the film in its top 5 films of the year. Life Itself was released theatrically by Magnolia Pictures in the summer of 2014 and will broadcast on CNN in 2015.Zak also co-produced the critically acclaimed film The Interrupters, which premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival and went on to screen at film festivals worldwide, collecting two Best Documentary Awards and two Audience Awards in addition to a Special Jury Award at the 2011 Sheffield Documentary Festival and 2011 Full Frame Documentary Festival. In 2011, The Interrupters was released theatrically in the US, Canada, and the UK, culminating in television broadcasts on PBS Frontline, BBC Storyville, Canal Plus, and the CBC. The film received a 2012 Spirit Award for Best Documentary, was honored by the Cinema Eye Awards for Outstanding Achievement in Non-Fiction Filmmaking and was awarded Best Documentary by the Chicago Film Critics Association. The New Yorker, Chicago Tribune, Entertainment Weekly, and LA Times all hailed The Interrupters as one of the year’s best films.
