The Government is shutting down its road cone hotline early, saying it's done what it needed to do. Dave Tilton, chief executive of traffic management firm Parallax spoke to Corin Dann.
From the moment she was arrested, Ghislaine Maxwell pursued an aggressive strategy to keep proceedings against her shielded from public view. Her legal team repeatedly sought to seal filings, close hearings, restrict media access, and limit the release of court records, arguing that publicity would prejudice her right to a fair trial and endanger her safety. Motions were filed to keep discovery materials confidential, redact filings referencing third parties, and prevent the unsealing of documents connected to the Epstein network. Maxwell also fought subpoenas and challenged disclosure efforts that could expose names, communications, and financial details beyond the narrow scope of her criminal charges. That secrecy campaign extended beyond trial logistics to the broader record of the case. Maxwell attempted to block the release of grand jury materials, oppose the unsealing of civil deposition transcripts, and resist public access to evidence already referenced in court. Judges repeatedly pushed back, emphasizing the strong presumption of public access in criminal proceedings, particularly in a case of extraordinary public interest. While some limited protections were granted, the courts largely rejected Maxwell's efforts to litigate in the shadows. The result was a steady erosion of her attempt at secrecy, reinforcing the principle that the prosecution of a central figure in one of the most consequential trafficking cases in modern history could not be insulated from public scrutiny simply because exposure was inconvenient or dangerous to powerful interests.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com
The Government maintains its road cone hotline has been worthwhile. The pilot, which encouraged the public to report excessive cone use, ends tomorrow, six months ahead of schedule. Site visits found 86% of work sites were already compliant. Workplace Relations Minister Brooke Van Velden told Heather du Plessis-Allan the hotline has found there are issues with the traffic management plans councils design. She says the people on the ground putting the cones out aren't the problem. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Labour's calling the Government road cone complaints hotline a complete waste of public money. It's wrapping up six months early - after site visits showed 86 percent complied with the rules on cone quantities. Labour Transport Spokesperson Tangi Utikere says the pilot cost $150,000 by September, after beginning in June. He says there were and more effective solutions to the issue. "They should have picked up the phone, had a conversation with councils, worked with them to get the information that they needed - it certainly wouldn't have cost them more than $150,000." It's thought there are few silver linings to come from the Government's road cone hotline. The pilot, which encouraged the public to report excessive cone use, ends tomorrow, six months ahead of schedule. Site visits found 86% of worksites were already compliant, and Workplace Relations Minister Brooke van Velden says the trial has done what it needed to do. CEO of traffic management company Parallaxx Dave Tilton told Andrew Dickens some of the data collection may be useful. He says it brought the road control authorities including NZTA, WorkSafe, and councils together well. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

What if a great business was built like a handmade mixtape? A lovingly crafted experience that is as much a love letter from its founder as it is custom-tailored to its audience. Before Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams became a household name, Jeni Britton was a 22-year-old art school dropout scooping her ice cream creations at a farmers market in Ohio. She didn't have investors, connections, or a playbook. What she did have was a vision - not just for ice cream, but for connection.Jeni believed her bold ice cream could be a conduit for something bigger: a place where people feel seen, conversations happen naturally, and strangers become community. Over the next two decades, she bootstrapped her way from a small counter to a nationally recognized brand by doing everything the slow, hard, old-fashioned way — one customer, one flavor, and one act of service at a time. She refused shortcuts. She prioritized people. And she built her company like a handmade mixtape — crafted with intention, risk, rebellion, and love.In this conversation, Jeni explains what true entrepreneurship really is: not hype, not hyper-growth, and not chasing venture capital, but the courage to follow a vision long enough for it to start leading you. We talk about the creative process, the power of service, the lessons learned from young employees, the myth of “scalable ideas,” and how walking in the woods helped Jeni discover her next chapter - Floura.Jeni's story is a reminder that the best things in life - and in business - take time, heart, and a willingness to make something beautiful even when no one is watching. This is A Bit of Optimism.---------------------------This episode is brought to you by the Porsche USA Macan---------------------------Visit Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams: https://jenis.com/Check out Jeni's newest venture — Floura: https://www.floura.com/
This week, Mike is joined by Ben Johnson, CEO and Founder of Particle 41, for a sharp, energizing look at what it really takes to lead in today's tech world. With more than 20 years of software experience and over $30 million raised across five startups, Ben brings the hard-earned lessons only a seasoned builder can offer. Ben breaks down the traits of effective tech leadership—setting a clear vision, empowering teams, and avoiding micromanagement. He shares candid stories from his early days as a founder, including a memorable misunderstanding of "burn rate." He explains why learning to speak the language of investors is essential for every entrepreneur. The conversation dives into what it takes to build strong, predictable teams through communication, structure, and proven frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, and the "Cone of Certainty." Ben also highlights the importance of starting with an MVP, validating demand, and iterating quickly—illustrated through the growth of Forte, an online music lesson platform that found success through smart, agile execution. Ben also opens up about the four pillars that ground his life—faith, family, fitness, and finance—and shares a touching story about helping his son conquer a fear of heights, a moment that shaped his own philosophy on courage and leadership. Ben then previews Particle 41's new AI Transformation service, designed to help companies integrate AI through smarter workflows and human-like digital agents. His perspective is clear: AI isn't a threat—it's a tool every business can harness to unlock its next level of performance. Packed with practical insights and inspiring lessons, this episode is a must-listen for anyone building products, leading teams, or stepping into the future of tech. IN THIS EPISODE:
On this episode, I had the privilege of sitting down with my dear friend Christina Cone in her home here in East Nashville. I knew she would be the perfect person to talk with about how to maintain one's creative and artistic identity while simultaneously diving headfirst into motherhood. Christina fronts the band Frances Cone along with her husband, Andy. She also founded Phases, a boutique creative agency for independent artists, earlier this year. She and I spoke about the terror and magic of motherhood, the necessary price we pay to live in community, the journey of healing from religious trauma, dismantling the legacy burden of codependency, and strategies for keeping the creative flame burning all the while. Combo is joined by Cone of the ThreeCone YouTube channel for a fresh look at what's driving OKC's start. They get into the idea of a 73-win chase, how the team keeps rolling without Jalen Williams, and why the Thunder's defensive identity feels more sustainable than people realize. From there, Combo and Cone unpack AJ Mitchell's emergence, how Chet compares to Paolo right now, and what SGA's continued evolution looks like after an MVP and Finals MVP season. They take a step back and look at the bigger picture: how OKC matches up with contenders, what Denver looks like, and what actually translates come playoff time. Yankees meltdown dominates the hour—fans fantasize about a dream team of Mattingly, Girardi, Cone, Randolph, and Jeter, while others just want hitters who can hit. Calls flood in, and Al shoots down Jeter-for-manager chatter. Jays clinch at Yankee Stadium, Jeter defends Boone, who admits it's been a rough year, and Lucy Burdge grills Schlittler: “and then what happened?” Over in the NFL, Daboll, Sirianni, and Glenn weigh in on Eagles struggles, and Belichick sparks buyout rumors at UNC, leaving everyone asking: is he even hirable?
The Yankees' season wrapped in chaos, and the reactions were just as wild. Boomer slammed the starting pitching—except Cam Schlittler—while the offense vanished when it mattered most. A-Rod called the roster one of the worst ever, Jazz Chisholm bragged about winning the World Series then blew a key double play, and Judge shined but Vlad stole the spotlight. Fans flooded the lines, debating everything from Cashman's job to who should manage—some dreaming of Jeter, Mattingly, Girardi, Cone, and Randolph, others just pleading for hitters who can hit. Postgame drama included the Blue Jays' manager taunting “start spreading the news bitches,” Schlittler breaking down the clubhouse mood, and Volpe reflecting on a rough postseason. Across the hour, every Yankee misstep was dissected, from petty celebrations to coaching critiques, leaving fans angry, confused, and begging for a team reboot.
Yankees meltdown sparks wild fan ideas—some want a sarcastic dream team of Mattingly, Girardi, Cone, Randolph, and Jeter, while others just plead for a lineup that can swing the bat.
In July 2023, the ACOG released a Practice Advisory stating, “Based on data on the benefit of adjunct HPV vaccination, ACOG recommends adherence to the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for vaccinations of individuals aged 9–26 years, and to consider adjuvant HPV vaccination for immunocompetent previously unvaccinated people aged 27–45 years who are undergoing treatment for CIN 2+”. The possible beneficial effect of peri-treatment HPV vaccination goes back to the early 2010s. But science is always changing, and MEDICINE MOVES FAST. In September 2025, the Lancet's Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Women's Health journal published the VACCIN trial to test that guidance. These authors found that, “Although previous studies, including meta-analyses and observational studies, have shown that adjuvant HPV vaccination reduces the recurrence of cervical dysplasia after surgical treatment, our trial suggests that adjuvant HPV vaccination is not effective in reducing the recurrence of CIN 2–3 lesions, contradicting the conclusions of previous works”. They have also called for a REVISION to prior guidance. This is FASCINATING. Listen in for details. 1.
