Chris Waters, The Huntsman and I dive straight into the thick of it at Accurate Hunts HQ in New South Wales, kicking off Huntsman season two with a bang. Together, we peel back the curtain on the raw and unfiltered world of hunting podcasting. From the adrenaline of a challenging shoot to the nuanced art of guest selection, we offer an insider's look into the crafting of authentic and original narratives that resonate with both seasoned hunters and newcomers to the sport.Navigating the transition from shooter to hunter is a journey paved with both skill and emotion. This episode doesn't shy away from the gritty truths behind the hunt, discussing the ease of firearm acquisition and the critical role of mentorship and hands-on training in fostering responsible hunters. We also share a slice of life from the field, where the flick of a deer's ear can mean the difference between success and another learning opportunity. Through the lens of our guiding experiences and the running of a beginner hunting course, we underscore the value of education over mere trophy pursuit.Every hunter carries a trove of tales, and we're no different. Laughter erupts as we recount the lighter moments of password woes and the mishaps that befall even the most experienced among us. Yet, beneath the humor lies a profound connection to the land and to each other, a bond that we explore through shared frustrations, triumphs, and the quiet healing found in nature's embrace. I talk to Natalie Hawkrigg about a number of Swim - Run challenges she has completed. Based in the North Lakes, Natalie is the female record holder for the Frog Graham Round, a 40 mile run with four lake swims around the Lake District. She was also the first female to complete the Frog Graham in winter, and went on to do the Welsh Puddle Buckley challenge as well. In May 2023, Natalie became the second ever finisher of The Ring of Stirling, a 35 mile round starting and finishing in Shieldaig, Torridon, which includes 5 swims (one of which is tidal), 10 summits and traverses some remote and beautiful corners of Torridon. The round was conceived by Chris Waters as a tribute to his late friend Chris Stirling who loved the hills of Torridon and has won the Celtman triathlon previously. For her Stirling Round, Natalie had one failed attempt which finished at the frigid waters of Loch Coire Mhic Fhearchair (Beinn Eighe) but then returned the very next weekend to complete her round in 26 hours and 28 minutes. She talks through the process and gives her insights into this fascinating merger of hill running and open water swimming. In the introduction I mention the "It's Up to Us" campaign, a joint venture from Mountaineering Scotland and the Outdoor Access Trust for Scotland which launched earlier this year and aims to raise awareness of the need for investment in the repair and maintenance of Scottish upland paths. Go to www.savemountainpaths.scot for more info and to donate. For details of the Ring of Stirling go to: https://ringofstirling.wordpress.com/ And the Frog Graham info is at: https://www.froggrahamround.co.uk/ FrogMan (Full Bob Graham run plus swims): https://thefrogmanround.square.site/ Futher info/ corrections: 1. Lancaster bomber crash on Beinn Eighe 1951 - further info here: https://heavywhalley.wordpress.com/2021/03/13/38412/ (my grandfather John Hinde was not involved in this RAF mountain rescue search, I got the stories muddled) 2. Biodiversity precautions on the Frog Graham Round: In recent years, the threat posed by Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) has increased hugely and sadly, Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater have been compromised for some time, completely upsetting the lakes' delicate ecology and causing significant problems for lake users.  Crummock Water has also succumbed and is now infected with NZ pygmyweed. Only Buttermere remains untouched and the park authorities and WCRT are making strenuous efforts to ensure it remains that way. The Frog Graham Round Club is committed to supporting their initiatives. Please read the details on the biosecurity section of the Frog Graham website before attempting the round. https://www.froggrahamround.co.uk/biosecurity 3. Natalie realised she got a fact wrong at the end of the chat: "I said that Chris Waters had not completed the Ring Of Stirling - that is not true. He has completed it in time of 22hrs 42, it was the Puddle Buckley he has not completed - he devised the Puddle and recced it but never did the final version."  4. Finlay says Ring of Steall when he means Ring of Stirling, near the end

Christopher Waters has been writing about wine for two decades. He is the wine and spirits columnist at The Globe and Mail, education director of IWEG Drinks Academy and a WSET certified instructor at the Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, Brock University. For 21 years, he was the editor/co-founder of Canada's largest circulation wine publication, VINES, and author of the nationally syndicated column, Waters & Wine. An internationally recognized wine judge.  Chris has developed and conducted masterclasses and seminars and moderated panels for organizations, such as The Wine Marketing Association of Ontario, Wines of British Columbia, Wines of Chile, Wines of Germany and Wines of South Africa. That's what the bio says. Here's what it didn't tell you. Anyone with a passionate interest in all things wine has always sought out the wine column in The Globe and Mail. It has a history of getting the facts and figures right.  With not a whiff of hype anywhere, the column becomes a tutorial that can be trusted and held close. Yes, there are times it completely geeks out and becomes a wine version of Wordle.  That's to be expected because it's like a weekly master class on wine and wine culture. Chris Waters was the perfect person to take over the master class from retiring Beppi Crosariol. After tasting Q&A (Red Blend)  and Q&A MRV  (Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier) Chris requested a Zoom interview with myself, winemaker Michal Mosny (Winemakers Cut) and our partner Jason Priestley. [caption id="attachment_26785" align="alignnone" width="837"] tdm and jason Globe&mail[/caption] Michal and I get to tell the story of how he was convinced to move himself and his wife from Slovakia to Oliver, BC after watching our wine program Hollywood and Vines. Michael Mosny After listening to the Zoom audio recording,  I realized I was really liking a  very open and revealing Chris Waters.  Have a listen as Chris talks about how he finds the magic in the wines he tastes, how the wine world is going through rapid changes and what makes a wine truly special and what can make it truly not! Ps.. Chris gave Q&A 91 Points and MSV 92 points. “truly exciting” Enjoy Chris Waters Globe and Mail Wine Columnist Thanks to Michal Mosny and Jason Priestley. (and Chad Oakes. Producer of H&V)

What's the crack? Now everyone's had time to think on it, how are the lads feeling about the performance from Sunderland overall - including that mad 5 minutes or so that resulted in us taking one point rather than three;. Which players stood out - besides the obvious strike partnership of Stewart and Simms? Ballard break? As of the time of recording the lads couldn't confirm the severity of the injury but reacted to the likelihood that we won't be seeing our new CB for a while... Alex Neil's game management; there's been a little bit of criticism levelled at the manager after the removal of Simms and the change in formation, what do the lads think about it all? Is AN responsible for the madness at the end there? Steve Davison; Our COO seems to be struggling with the concept of running a large football club. Why have we not employed more staff when we're clearly short? Why is the club so far behind off the pitch? Is there a real desire to improve immediately from the board as well as Davison? Why has Chris Waters been left in the position of seemingly having to deal with all this again this year despite it not technically being his job to do? In this week's episode we're featuring the third album from one of the neo-traditional movement's shining lights: Holly Dunn's "Across The Rio Grande" (1988). In this reviewer's estimation, the late 80s saw only a handful of female country voices making honest-to-goodness roots-inspired country music, of which Dunn was one (another being Patty Loveless); and on this, her third album and final for MTM Records, Holly Dunn took on a much bigger production role. "Across The Rio Grande" was a mostly stripped-down affair compared to Dunn's previous offerings - there was barely an electric instrument to be seen (except maybe a bass, according to Dunn). There's some excellent songwriting with her brother Chris Waters as well as a couple of chart singles which did well enough, but the real strength lies in the heartfelt delivery of album cuts including the tender (and poignant, given Dunn's untimely passing) "On The Wings Of An Angel" and the yearning "Just Across The Rio Grande". A fine textured and multi-layered album from one of the neo-traditional era's finest young talents.

No matter how good we are, if we’re flying solo we will have to work more in order to earn more. This usually leads to a poor work-life balance, so how can we scale up so we’re working smarter, not harder? What’s the mindset change necessary to go from being an agent to an entrepreneur? How do we scale up our lead generation? In this episode, Chris Watters shares his journey from being an overworked agent to being a team leader. When you get to that place where you are in a leadership role, your success and failure is determined by the people around you. -Chris Waters   3 Things We Learned From This Episode Stay humble, stay coachable (25:00-25:50) One of the biggest traps we can fall into is to be self-sufficient and arrogant about our agent skills. The truth is that many mistakes can be avoided when we seek help. There’s no point in reinventing the wheel and losing time and money in the process.   Made the shift from production to business ownership (21:05:22:00) Having a team will help bring our work and personal life back into balance. As a single agent, we have to deal with every aspect of our business. Sooner or later, the burnout will hit. A team not only helps us get our free time back, but also multiplies our efforts. We can only deal with so many listings on our own. The advantages of lead generation as a team (23:00-24:00) Many lead generation tools work better when they’re used by teams. A good example is Zillo, a lead generation platform where you need tons of reviews and hundreds of past sales in order to succeed. Unfortunately, as a single agent, we can’t get as many reviews and past sales. A team can.   As a business owner and leader, our job is to assemble a team of people who have what it takes to help us succeed. Our focus will shift from the “what it takes to get more listings or buyers” to “who can do it in our place”. We don’t have to have all aspects of the business figured out-- we just need to find the right people for our team. Guest Bio Chris Watters an original Austin Texas native and founder of Watters International Realty.  In 2016, his team successfully closed over $100+ Million in sales and helped hundreds of families in the purchase or sale of a home. In 2015, Chris began opening branches across Texas and partnering with other successful agents and team leaders, assisting them in duplicating their success. In 1989, college senior Wendy Kopp was trying to figure out how to improve American public schools. For her senior thesis, she proposed creating a national teaching corps that would recruit recent college grads to teach in underserved schools. One year later, she launched the nonprofit, Teach for America. Today, TFA has 50,000 alumni, a budget of nearly $300 million, and continues to place thousands of teachers across the country. PLUS in our postscript "How You Built That," how a game of Secret Santa led Chris Waters to create Constructed Adventures, elaborate scavenger hunts for all occasions.
