Rod Mullins started off our podcast talking about this past weekend's Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600, and NASCAR star Kyle Larson's second failed attempt at “The Double.” A sidebar story about a fan who tried to steal Ross Chastain's hat in Victory Lane at the 600 led to a lengthy discussion of ‘70s and ‘80s superfan Morganna the Kissing Bandit, and whether her on-field incursions were real or kayfabe. As you can tell, this week's show is a can't-miss.
Welcome back to a new episode of Planet One Radio with your hosts, John C and Greg Angello with the theme song from that famous school sitcom, "Welcome Back Kotter." I used to watch this show all the time. How about you?We make a small pun with all the media hype on Epstein, but this one is more about our kids in school, social media meltdowns; are your friends really your friends on FB, what you get is what you pay for, teacher cams, and what John and I have had to clean up in our bathrooms from our kids. It's a light-hearted show, nothing too serious, which is what our podcast shows are generally about. That being said, John gives a great closing statement at the end we all should take heed to. Your comments and what other topics on the next podcast are greatly appreciated. Please hit the like button and subscribe to the channel if you have not done so.Until next time.... we appreciate you all and thank you to all the subscribers and listeners here on Planet One Radio. You can also pick up it on many podcasts formats through Buzzsprout.See ya!! You know, I do miss Mrs. Crabtree! She was a great teacher!!
This week we try to think of two celebrities who have appeared as 3 different high profile comic book characters in movies while discussing the Spider-man Nior trailer. Then... You know its all about comics baby. Like the title suggests, we dig into Dan Slotts Superman, Zander Cannons Sleep, The Killer: Affairs of the State II, Whatever Happened to the Crimson Justice?, and Godzilla: Here There be Aliens. BONUS: Vargas missed last week so he catches us up on his take on Exquisite Corpses.
A lot of what has been dug up from the 90s, mostly by Gen Z, has kind of been a rude look into the mirror for Millennials, but acclaimed, veteran screenwriter Victoria Male has cooked up a comedy feature, Whatever Happened to Baby J?, that is taking a much more favorable look into the 90s, so much so that the one and only Jodie Sweetin (as well as Drew Seeley and stacked cast) is going to be part of a staged reading of Whatever Happened to Baby J? at Dynasty Typewriter on June 9th (tix available here). This week's TCB Field Report follows Victoria's journey all the way to doing this big time staged reading that will be support of the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children. Follow Victoria @victoriamale1 and get tix to Whatever Happened to Baby J @ Dynasty Typewriter on June 9th here. You may have become so used to them that you no longer notice, but snaking through downtown Indianapolis' northwest quadrant are the remains of a revolutionary public transit system that transported riders on elevated tracks 30-feet high. It was called the People Mover, developed for $44 million by Clarian Health Partners, the hospital system now known as Indiana University Health. From its launch in 2003 to 2019, it recorded roughly 6 million rider trips on a 1.4-mile track running between Methodist Hospital, University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children. The People Mover had the cooperation of city officials, who allowed the track to use public right of way along Senate Avenue, West 11th Street and University Boulevard. And the People Mover was filled with promise, as some predicted it could be expanded to a larger public transit system that would include Indianapolis International Airport. But tram came to screeching halt in 2019, when IU Health said it would begin offering shuttle buses instead and expected to save about $40 million over 10 years. That also was about the time IU Health began planning a massive facility consolidation and modernization project downtown. IBJ reporter Daniel Lee has a personal connection to the People Mover and recently began looking into what remains of the twin-track system and whether IU Health has any plans to resurrect it. In this week's edition of the IBJ Podcast, Lee also gauges support for a proposal that would transform the infrastructure into an elevated trail celebrating the heritage of Black communities on downtown's northwest side.

Society is intentionally being dumbed down and forced into segmented information cults, primarily through social media. With cliches that shut down thinking outside the box, Hegelian Dialectics, AI, and other tools, we are being force-fed ideas that are not true. It is brainwashing against imagination and thought processes that create creativity and give us many ways to think and share. It is a war of memes and themes—an era of uncontrolled Luciferian tactics. Those in power now have made mass mind control a staple in creating the herd mentality. Tonight on Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis, 7-10 pm, pacific time on groundzeroplus.com. Call in to the LIVE show at 503-225-0860. #groundzeroplus #ClydeLewis #memes #herdmentality #socialmedia #mindcontrol
The drummer and percussionist Billy Martin, whose name many Time Sensitive listeners may recognize—he created the Time Sensitive theme song—defies any boxed-in or limiting definitions of his work. Best known as a member of the band Medeski Martin & Wood (MMW), he's spent the past three-plus decades making experimental, boundary-pushing, and uncategorizable instrumental jazz-funk-groove music, shaping sounds that feel as expansive as they are definitive and distinctive. Across all his artistic output, Martin continually, meditatively searches for harmony. He is also a composer, a teacher, a visual artist, and a builder and craftsman. His expansive creative practice comes most alive at his home in Englewood, New Jersey, where he has cultivated a bamboo garden, crafted his own Japanese-style teahouse, and constructed a music studio. Martin is someone for whom rhythm is not just something heard, but also seen and felt.On the episode, he talks about his MMW journey at length, his concept of “rhythmic harmony,” and why he views sound creation as a sacred act.Special thanks to our Season 11 presenting sponsor, Van Cleef & Arpels.Show notes:Billy Martin[7:31] Medeski Martin & Wood[7:31] John Medeski[7:31] Chris Wood[7:31] “Not Not Jazz” (2024)[10:12] Iggy Pop's “Avenue B” (1999)[10:12] Don Was[11:27] “The Lover” (1995)[11:27] “Friday Afternoon in the Universe” (1995)[11:27] “Old Angel Midnight” (1973) by Jack Kerouac[13:44] Ra-Kalam Bob Moses[13:44] John Scofield[13:44] David Baker[15:57] “Shuck It Up” (1993)[15:57] “It's a Jungle in Here” (1993)[18:12] “Latin Shuffle” (1998)[18:12] “Combustication” (1998)[18:12] Frankie Malabe[18:12] Art Blakey[33:25] Thelonious Monk[33:58] “Life on Drums” (2011)[38:32] John Bonham[38:32] Charlie Watts[38:32] Stewart Copeland[38:32] Elvin Jones[38:32] Max Roach[38:32] Danny Richmond[38:32] Charles Mingus[38:32] Jack DeJohnette[38:32] Joe Morello[38:32] Roy Haynes[38:32] Stan Getz[38:32] Airto Moreira[38:32] Naná Vasconcelos[38:32] Babatunde Olatunji[39:58] Gus Johnson[39:58] “Whatever Happened to Gus” (1998)[39:58] Steve Cannon[40:54] “Chubb Sub” (1995)[40:54] ”Uncle Chubb” (1992)[46:41] “Shack-man” (1996)[47:06] “Drumming Birds” (2004)[54:48] “Bamboo Rainsticks” (1999)[54:48] Amulet Records[1:00:23] Creative Music Studio

At Tangle, we've recently been reflecting on our coverage from the past five years, identifying stories that we covered once or twice, thought could reshape our lives, and then… they didn't. And we're asking: What happened to that story? So today, we're trying to figure out how one story in particular has panned out. The topic should be familiar to most: the 2022 baby formula shortage. As we'll get into below, the story combined pandemic-era challenges with existing supply chain issues (and a bit of bad luck), raising fears that millions of infants across the U.S. were facing a nutritional crisis. But did those concerns come to bear? And are the underlying issues actually resolved? This is a preview of today's special edition. The recent federal election was the formal turning of the page from the premiership of Justin Trudeau to the one led by Mark Carney. For long-time political observers, the difference between the two men in both style and substance is stark, but there's no doubt that the change in leadership in March is at least half the reason the Liberals got a near majority last week. And yet, the question remains: What happened to Trudeau-mania? The date was February 7, 2013. The location was the Brass Taps, the pub on the second floor of the University Centre at the University of Guelph. Packing them in that day was Justin Trudeau, then a candidate for federal Liberal leadership. At this point, the Liberals were in the political wilderness, but there was a new kid on the block who had different ideas. The pundits didn't really take Justin Trudeau seriously, but the young people in the Brass Taps that day did. They really, really did. How did the excitement about Justin Trudeau and his “Sunny Ways” sour so completely that his mere removal from the ballot made the party he revived competitive again? Was it the right-wing smear job? Was it the rise of Trumpism and anti-woke sentiment? Was it the lingering social and economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic? It could be all three and it could be none of it, but it's one of the great questions of this political era, and this episode of the podcast. To answer it, we're joined by Mustafa Zuberi, who was, for a time, the president of the Young Liberals at the U of G and served as the Liberal candidate for Guelph in the recent provincial election. Zuberi was one of the thousands of young people drawn to politics by Trudeau and his idealism, so he will help us understand how he inspired so many young people, why that youthful energy started to move to the right in recent years, and how Trudeau might have been more of a victim of circumstance than ability. So let's talk about the rise and fall of Justin Trudeau on this week's Guelph Politicast! You can follow Mustafa Zuberi on Instagram. You can check out the coverage from Justin Trudeau's stop at the Brass Taps in 2013 on the original Guelph Politico Blogspot. And obviously, we will be keeping up with the latest developments from the new Canadian Prime Minister every Thursday at 5 pm on Open Sources Guelph on CFRU 93.3 fm or cfru.ca The host for the Guelph Politicast is Podbean. Find more episodes of the Politicast here, or download them on your favourite podcast app at Apple, TuneIn and Spotify . Also, when you subscribe to the Guelph Politicast channel and you will also get an episode of Open Sources Guelph every Monday, and an episode of End Credits every Friday.

Send us a textCultural anthropologist Barbara Garrity-Blake takes us into the world of North Carolina's menhaden fishery — a once-thriving industry built by coastal communities, African American crews, and the haunting work songs they sang. In this episode, we explore how this small but vital fish fed both the economy and the environment, and what was lost when machines replaced people and tourism replaced tradition. It's a story about labor, race, ecology, and memory, deeply tied to North Carolina's coastal heritage.Barbara Garrity-Blake teaches marine fisheries policy at the Duke University Marine Laboratory. She has written books like "Living at the Water's Edge: A Heritage Guide to the Outer Banks Byway" with Karen Willis Amspacher, highlighting the culture of North Carolina's Outer Banks. Another notable work, "The Fish Factory: Work and Meaning for Black and White Fishermen of the American Menhaden Industry," examines the experiences of menhaden fishermen.Menhaden are small, oily fish essential to the Atlantic coastal ecosystem. They filter plankton from the water and are a key food source for larger fish, birds, and marine mammals. Historically, they were harvested on a massive scale for fertilizer, animal feed, and bait. Today, debates continue about how to balance their ecological role with commercial interests.Support the showwww.shoresides.org

In July of 2002, former NBA star Bison Dele (Daily), his girlfriend Serena Karlan, and a boat captain named Bertrand Saldo vanished while sailing the South Pacific Ocean. The only person to return from the trip was Bison's older brother, Miles. When Miles arrived alone in Tahiti, the boat had been repainted and renamed. Authorities suspected Miles had murdered the other three while at sea so that he could assume his brother's identity, but with no bodies ever found and with Miles' death in 2002, the fate of Bison and his companions remains a mystery to this day. It's citrus season in the northern hemisphere, and fruit trees are bursting with oranges and lemons. But CrowdScience listener Jonathan wants to know what happened to the tangerines he ate as a child in the 1960s? He remembers a fruit that was juicy, sweet and full of pips, found each Christmas at the bottom of his stocking. Tangerines today, he thinks, just don't compare. Crowdscience tries to track down this elusive fruit. Presenter Anand Jagatia traces the tangerine's origins back to Ancient China, as botanist David Mabberley explains that the name ‘tangerine' comes from a fruit that made its way from Asia, to Africa and the Moroccan port of Tangier, before arriving in the US in the early 1800s. Professor Tracy Kahn from UC Riverside tells us about the hybridisation process that goes into breeding modern tangerines, but says that while the season for these fruits has been dramatically extended, there's a cost in terms of diversity and flavour. Who better to help us track down this missing mandarin than a fruit detective? Well, that's one of pomologist David Karp's other job titles, and he reveals exactly which cultivar we might be looking for: the Dancy. So where can we find one? Over on Friend's Ranches in Ojai, California, Emily Ayala shows us two trees planted by her late grandfather, and explains that nothing grown since really matches its unique flavour. So what will listener Jonathan think when we send him a box?
