Chad Cherry As the front man for The Last Vegas, Chad Cherry made his mark as one of rock's most charismatic lead singers (just ask Nikki Sixx, Alice Cooper or Matt Sorum). Today, his appreciation for Jagger and Stewart is front and center with The Claws, and his clothing line is worn by members of the Alice Cooper band, pop star Pink and others. Join us as he recalls touring arenas with Motley Crue, discovering horror movies and punk rock, and working with B-movie actress, Sybil Danning. Created and Produced by Jared Tuten
This episode was inspired by a dialogue Chad and Lauren had discussing their latest book club selection. In section 3 of Dare To Lead: Brave Work, Tough Conversations, Whole Hearts, author Brene Brown breaks down Daring Leadership vs. Armored Leadership. We pick out a handful of learnings that hit home and apply them to experiences in our own lives. Brene Brown does such a wonderful job using storytelling and providing language so we can articulate what we are feeling and experiencing! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To explore articles, book excerpts, videos, and guides, visit the Dare to Lead Hub at https://daretolead.brenebrown.com. Please excuse some of the audio quality issues. During the time of the pandemic, some of the niceties of recording studios are sacrificed for getting the information out timely. Chad and Lauren are reading Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff…and It’s All Small Stuff by Richard Carlson. They essentially formed their own book club, as described by Lauren. – I found this great article about the growth of book clubs during the COVID-19 crisis. Perhaps you will start your own book club. https://bit.ly/2UWMZK0 Lauren and Chad spoke of some of the lessons they considered in discussing books together, including the use of the word “fair”. I found this interesting article regarding defining “fair”. https://bit.ly/2w4D7FI Lauren speaks about trust and honesty as a foundational element of building relationships. I found these interesting conversation starters on the topic. https://bit.ly/3dLgPtI Chad is reading 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John C. Maxwell and related the messages therein to developing trust as a leader. Chad referenced Good to Great by Jim Collins and Level 5 Leadership. According to Collins’s website, Level 5 leaders display a powerful mixture of personal humility and indomitable will. They're incredibly ambitious, but their ambition is first and foremost for the cause, for the organization and its purpose, not themselves. While Level 5 leaders can come in many personality packages, they are often self-effacing, quiet, reserved, and even shy. Every good-to-great transition in our research began with a Level 5 leader who motivated the enterprise more with inspired standards than inspiring personality. For more see Collins’s website. Lauren explained she is currently reading books by self help author Brene Brown. You can find Brene here. Lauren is also reading a daily devotional A Year of Positive Thinking. Chad mentioned that Simon Sinek, author of Start With Why is starting a virtual book club about his book. It is being hosted on YouTube. Here is the link. Finally, I gave a shoutout to Northern Valley Regional High School, in Demarest New Jersey (Home of the Norsemen) where Simon and I both went to high school. Other notable alumni will be making appearances on this podcast this year so stay tuned for those.

Red and Jerry talk to The Last Vegas Singer Chad Cherry about what the band is up to.
Everyone has to start somewhere. Who better to ask for tips on the early days than super-successful Omni founder Tom McLeod? Telling it from the grassroots we have Florida chef Chad Cherry who teaches cookery in food deserts, Jon Dengler who works alongside local homeless people on a collaborative earn-a-bike scheme and Marisa Hamamoto who used her experience of temporary paralysis to create inclusive dance company Infinite Flow.
After being hospitalized in his 20's, Chad Cherry became passionate about eating organic food. Chef Cherry is the founder of Chef Kulture, a company based in Ft. Lauderdale that educates the community about healthy eating and is fighting food disparities in low-income areas. Cherry was one of the few chosen to be part of the Red Bull Amaphiko Academy for social entrepreneurs. He talks to Cocoa Fly host Jenee Darden about his passion to help the community and a special meeting with the Obamas.
From 2009: Joining me today is Chad Cherry, lead singer for a rising metal band called The Last Vegas. They won a national competition called the Guitar Center On Stage contest that attracted 8,000 entries and concluded with them being picked by the guys in the Crue for a contract with their record label and a spot opening for them on tour. And, as you’ll hear in a few minutes when I play their first single, “I’m Bad,” they’re pretty damn good.
