Razkošno leto kulture in umetnosti, naslovljeno Evropska prestolnica kulture GO!2025, je zaključeno. Odprlo je spekter širine v umevanju humanističnih pojmovanj in rezino kolača namenilo tudi glasbi v najširšem pomenu te besede. Kakšno glasbeno izkušnjo je ponudil program Evropske prestolnice kulture? Koliko pričakovanj je dejansko uresničil? Kakšen je bil pomen glasbe in kakšna je bila njena vrednost? In slednjič – je bilo v ponudbi izkustvo, ki se bo vtisnilo v zgodovinski spomin? O tej tematiki se je Simona Moličnik pogovarjala z ambasadorjem EPK Alexandrom Gadjievim, z ustvarjalci Rossinijeve opere Potovanje v Reims in s skladateljem nove skladbe za projekt Simfonični gozd / Drevesni orkester Matejem Boninom. Teden je zaznamoval Ta veseli dan kulture, ko je minilo dve sto petindvajset let od rojstva pesnika Franceta Prešerna in smo izvedeli, kdo so letošnji Prešernovi nagrajenci in nagrajenci Prešernovega sklada. Slavnostno se je zaključilo leto Nove Gorice - Gorice 2025, evropske prestolnice kulture. Kako živijo in delajo slovenski kulturni ustvarjalci je pokazala raziskava Poligon, na Vodnikovi domačiji v Šiški pa je mogoče obiskati sejem ilustracije. Grad Črnomelj je prenovljen in so ga ta teden odprli za javnost, Mestno gledališče Ptuj praznuje tri desetletja delovanja. Če bi si ogledali več kot šestdeset del od Picassovih pa v času nazaj vse do Van Gogha, jih boste našli v muzeju svete Katarine v Trevizu.

Evropska prestolnica kulture v čezmejnem prostoru na Goriškem se prvi petek v decembru uradno končuje s predajo naslova slovaškemu mestu Trenčin in finskemu Ouluju. V desetih mesecih se je na naši strani zvrstilo 870 kulturnih, gastronomskih, športnih in drugih dogodkov, kar je dvakrat več od načrtovanega. Skupno pa je prva čezmejna kulturna prestolnica Evrope gostila prek tisoč 600 dogodkov, med drugim ugotavljajo nosilci projekta. Poleg tega so samo uradne programske vsebine privabile več kot milijon obiskovalcev, tri milijone je bilo ogledov spletnih vsebin. Kakšni še so učinki in izkušnje Evropske prestolnice kulture na Goriškem ter kako v čezmejnem povezovanju in sodelovanju naprej, o tem v tokratnem Studiu ob 17-ih. Danes po vsej državi praznujemo Ta veseli dan kulture. Na obletnico rojstva Franceta Prešerna kulturne ustanove že tradicionalno odprejo svoja vrata in obiskovalcem ponudijo brezplačen vstop. Novosti letošnjega veselega dne sta nova grafična podoba in razširitev dogajanja na več dni. Drugi poudarki: - Po petih urah ameriško-ruskih pogovorov iz Moskve sporočili, da bo pot do miru v Ukrajini še dolga. - Ameriški kongres ugotavlja, ali je vojni minister Pete Hegseth zagrešil vojni zločin. - Invalidi ob svojem mednarodnem dnevu opozarjajo, da enako kot drugi državljani prispevajo k razvoju družbe.

Na današnjo obletnico rojstva pesnika Franceta Prešerna vsako leto obeležujemo neformalni praznik Ta veseli dan kulture. Obletnico Prešernovega rojstva je tudi letos pospremila novinarska konferenca Upravnega odbora Prešernovega sklada, ki je prinesla nova imena prejemnic in prejemnikov Prešernovih nagrad ter nagrad Prešernovega sklada 2026. Kreativni center Poligon pa je pripravil in objavil peto raziskavo o delovnih in življenjskih pogojih delavk in delavcev v slovenskem kulturno-ustvarjalnem sektorju.

A New Sustainable CultureThrough the rise in pop culture, climate change awareness has increasingly been integrated into the entertainment industry. Particularly in the Black community, multimedia cultural campaigns are used to increase interest in environmental movements with the use of light-hearted, fun content. Artists, musicians, and influencers are leveraging their platforms to highlight the impacts of climate change and promote sustainable practices, which, in turn, provides easily accessible resources and information to marginalized communities that empower them to participate in the fight against climate change. Black Communities and Environmental JusticePopulations of color face disproportionate energy burdens caused by climate change. A study conducted by Rice University found that Black communities were more prone to live in vulnerable areas, a generational problem caused by the history of Black gentrification. Even now in 2024, Black communities in Georgia are forced to pay higher electricity bills, despite having lower rates compared to other states, due to old and inefficient household systems. According to the National Black Environmental Justice Networks, African Americans were also found to breathe in 56% more pollution than they cause, whereas their White counterparts breathe in 17% less pollution than generated. African Americans are also 75% more likely than White Americans to live in polluted communities, leading to 13.4% of African American children suffering from asthma, compared to 7.3% of White children. Starting in the 1970s, some black musicians included environmental themes in their productions. Artist Marvin Gaye released “Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)” to tackle discussions about oil spills and mercury waste; funk group Earth, Wind, & Fire released “Burnin' Bush” to bring awareness about the global destruction of Mother Earth. Those themes continue today in  music produced by Black artists, such as in the popular single “Feels Like Summer” by Childish Gambino, which conveys worries about uncertain impacts caused by global warming. Additionally, artists such as SZA have partnered with brands to promote sustainable merchandise, encouraging a societal paradigm to rely on eco-friendly products. Representation and EducationWith more than 50% of the world's population active on social media, people are continuously exposed to the influx of information circulated by entertainment. Through the entertainment industry, climate news has become increasingly accessible and engaging, allowing communities to educate themselves on sustainability and mobilize action. Although hip-hop and rap were once considered controversial music genres due to themes of violence, drugs, and misogyny, there is a growing effort to utilize the storytelling aptitude of these genres for social and environmental commentary. Artists use rhymes and flow in hip-hop and rap to effectively share the living conditions, natural disasters, and climate injustice that people face. This empowerment of entertainment has motivated marginalized people to strengthen their community bonds and collaborate in fighting against climate change. The widespread influence of entertainment is fostering inspiration for a new culture promoting climate equity and agency, as well as the normalization of environmentalism in society.  Who are the co-founders of Klean Energy Kulture?Corey Dennard and Michael Hawthorne Jr. (Akachè Marcino) are the co-founders of Klean Energy Kulture, a non-profit environmental entertainment company.
